The dg screamed in surprise but stpped struggling, sensing the help. With the dg secure, Richard turned his attentin t the girl. She was pale and shivering. With a mighty effrt, he wrapped his arm arund her waist, pulling her clse t him.
“Hld me tight!” he said, carrying the girl in the water. The girl’s arms wrapped arund his neck, her grip tight and desperate. Richard kicked harder, using all his strength t battle the raging river. Inch by inch, they made prgress. Finally, they made it t the shre. Exhausted, they lay nt the bank, cughing up water and gasping fr breath. The dg shk the water ff, rubbing against Richard’s face t shw gratitude. The girl lked at him, tears rlling dwn her face, and whispered, “Thank yu.” Richard was glad that he shwed up and saved them in time.
