錢學森，1911年12月11日出生于上海。三歲時由于父親到教育部任職遷至北京。
Qian Xuesen was brn in Shanghai. At the age f three he left fr Beijing when his father btained a pst in the Ministry f Educatin.
Qian attended the Chia Tung (Jia Tng) University in Shanghai in 1934 where he received a degree in mechanical engineering with an emphasis n railrad administratin.
1929年考入了上海交通大學機械工程系，學習機車制造專業(yè)。
In August 1935, Qian left China t study mechanical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute f Technlgy, where he earned a Master f Science degree after ne year.
1935年進入美國麻省理工學院學習機械工程，次年轉(zhuǎn)入美國加州理工學院航空系學習，成為世界著名空氣動力學教授馮·卡門最得意的弟子。

1925年到1955年錢學森在美國從事空氣動力學、固體力學和火箭、導彈等領(lǐng)域研究,并與導師共同完成高速空氣動力學問題研究課題。
Qian became the subject f five years f secret diplmacy and negtiatin between the U.S. and China. As a swap fr 11 U.S. airmen held captive by China, Qian returned t China in Sep. 1955.
經(jīng)過周恩來總理在與美國外交談判上的不斷努力,以俘獲的美軍高級將領(lǐng)作為交換，錢學森同志終于沖破種種阻力回到了祖國。
In 1956, he became the directr f the Fifth Academy f the Ministry f Natinal Defense, tasked with ballistic missile and nuclear weapns develpment. Qian als influenced ther areas f study---systematics and science and technlgy.
錢學森受命組建中國第一個火箭、導彈研究所---國防部第五研究院并擔任首任院長。他還在其他很多領(lǐng)域有積極影響。
Qian retired in 1991 with a lt f hnrs. Qian’s research was used as the basis fr the Lng March rcket.
1991年10月, 國務(wù)院、中央軍委授予錢學森“國家杰出貢獻科學家”榮譽稱號和一級英雄模范獎?wù)隆?br/>Qian and leaders f the PRC
On Octber 31, 2009, Qian died at the age f 97 in Beijing.
錢學森2009年10月31日逝世，享年97。
