With the intentin f investigating hw PDE4B might affect the brain, the UK team genetically mdified (改造) mice with Alzheimer’s t reduce PDE4B activity. The results are astnishing.
First, the mice with Alzheimer’s and nrmal PDE4B expressin shwed memry lss in the sense f directin, a distinctive characteristic f AD. But thse wh had the genetic mdificatin t have less PDE4B activity shwed n damage at all. The team als bserved that inflammatin (炎癥), anther hallmark f AD, decreased t sme extent in the brains f mice with less PDE4B activity, cmpared t thse with mre f the enzyme.
Because all f these effects were fund in the mice that already had Alzheimer’s but had significant imprvement in symptms, the researchers say that further investigatin int hw t limit PDE4B in human patients with the cnditin culd lead t new treatment pathways.
