Althugh he’s riginally frm Buffal, New Yrk, Kelley said he cnsiders himself a “Sutheast guy”. He always thught his lve fr phtgraphy grwing up was just a hbby, nt smething he culd turn int a career. Australia is a natin f car wners with a rapidly ageing ppulatin. Drivers aged ver70 have nearly dubled in number in the past 20 years. The trend is the same fr hspitalizatin and deaths due t accidents invlving lder drivers. It can be difficult t knw what t d if yu have cncerns abut smene’s driving.
Many changes that happen with advancing age can affect a persn’s ability t drive safely. Eyesight r hearing can have an effect n sme f the mre bvius skills needed fr safe driving. Advancing age can als lead t dangerus driving, including ur ability t plan effectively, think quickly and react prperly.
S, shuld regular health exam f drivers ver a certain age be mandatry (強(qiáng)制的)? Sme Australian states require it, while thers dn’t. Hwever, early research shwed ld drivers in regins with strict rules were nt likely t be injured r killed in a traffic accident than peple in states with vluntary reprting requirements. This finding pints t the need fr multi-tiered (多層次的)—rather than simply age-based—judgement fr recgnizing lder at-risk drivers.
Australia’s natinal driver medical guidelines nly utline the lwest standards that peple shuld meet t be cnsidered medically safe t drive. The guidelines dn’t utline hw we can help lder peple recgnize the signs f declining driving ability. Requiring lder drivers t cmplete an advanced driving test wuld clearly shw whether they are fit t drive. Hwever, these tests are very expensive, impractical and difficult.
Cgnitive screening (認(rèn)知篩查) tests are a practical slutin t test fr a decline in many functins needed fr driving, such as visin, cgnitin and mtr abilities. This apprach might help prvide a standard way t quickly recgnize Australian drivers wh are mst at risk. Chsing a vehicle that prvides the best prtectin can als make a difference.

B. Sme lder drivers fund it hard t understand sme difficult traffic rules.
C. Vluntary helpers cntributed a lt t the safety f lder drivers n rads.
D. Age-based judgement wasn’t enugh t help recgnize lder at-risk drivers.
31. What might be the mst practical way fr Australia t test a persn’s fitness t drive?

C. Making an advanced driving test a must.D. Carrying ut cgnitive screening tests.

Increasing the numbers f a small parasitic wasp (寄生蜂) culd help cntrl the brwn marmrated stink bug (茶翅蝽), a harmful pest endangering crps including apples, cherries and crn. The wasp, which is frm Eurpe, lays its eggs inside thse f the pest, where its yung develp by feeding n the hst egg.
Alessia Lacvne at Biplanet, an Italian bicntrl cmpany, and her c-wrkers released (釋放) 325,000 f the wasps ver the summer f 2020. This tk place at the places where fruit trees are grwn and the pest was knwn t be present.
The team then cllected stink bug eggs t find ut hw many had been discvered by the wasps and hw effectively they had been attacked. At release sites, a wasp discvered 31 percent f the stink bug egg masses and adult wasps came ut frm 17 percent f the discvered eggs, while at cmparative sites where n release tk place, these rates were 1.7 and 1.2 percent, respectively.
In additin t these increases, the researchers fund that the release f a wasp had n effect n parasitism (寄生) by naturally ccurring wasps f the same species, as well as by Trisslcus mitsukurii, anther harmful wasp species that als targets the bug’s eggs. Iacvne says the true effect f the wasp release is likely t be even greater than simply lking at successful parasitism suggests, since the adult wasps als feed n the stink bug eggs.
“A wasp is a cmmn egg parasitid (卵寄生蜂) in parts f Eurpe and this reprt is encuraging, shwing that increasing releases f this species imprve parasitism f brwn marmrated stink bug egg masses,” says Glen Pwell at the Ryal Hrticultural Sciety.
32. What can be learned abut the brwn marmrated stink bug frm paragraph 1?
A. It lays its eggs inside the wasp.B. Its feeding list includes fruits.
C. It develps by eating hst eggs.D. It cmes frm Eurpe riginally.
33. Why did the team cllect stink bug eggs?
A. T judge stink bugs’ living ability.B. T knw the result f wasp attacks.
C. T explain why the eggs ccur in masses.D. T find where stink bugs lay their eggs.
34. What’s Pwell’s attitude t the findings?
A. Wrried.B. Objective.C. Supprtive.D. Uncaring.
35. What’s the best title f the passage?
A. Wasp Release Cntrls Stink Bug AttackB. Parasitic Wasps Increase Harmful Pest
C. Parasitic Wasp Strategy Benefits Stink BugD. Egg-Laying Wasps help Crp Pests Out
