Bir(1899-1985) was the inventr f the ballpint pen. He was brn in Budapest, Hungary. In the 1930s, when he wrked as a newspaper editr, he used a funtain pen almst every day. Hwever, he had t refill it all the time. The ink als did nt dry easily, and it smetimes made a mess n the paper. Bir wanted a better pen. His brther, Gerge, helped him develp a special ink. The ink dried easily. Then they develped a new type f pen.There was a tiny ball at the tip f the pen. The ball rlled ink nt paper as it mve. They called it the “ballpint” pen.
The ballpint pen was a great success. Everyne lved it. Nw millins f peple use it all ver the wrld every day.Peple will always remember Bir fr his inventin. Tday in many English-speaking cuntries, peple still use the wrd “bir” t refer t any kind f ballpint pen.
