Hw wuld yu feel if yur child were being tutred by a rbt? It's believed that scial rbts culd becme as cmmn as paper and whitebards in schls. Thse rbts have been used t read stries t preschl students in Singapre, help 12- year-lds in Iran learn English and imprve handwriting amng yung children in Switzerland,
As a prfessr f educatin, I study the different ways that teachers wrldwide d their jbs. T understand hw scial rbts culd affect teaching, I intrduced a rbt called " Pepper" int a public elementary and middle schl in the U. S. and fund many prblems with the current generatin f scial rbts.
T get the rbt t perfrm, ur students had t master the directins that came with the rbt. Sme students quickly figured ut that the rbt culd respnd nly t certain basic rutines. They kept trying t interact with the rbt as if it were a persn but gt very frustrated with its nnhuman respnses. When a rbt filed t answer a questin, r respnded in the wrng way, students realized t h rbt wasn't really understanding them and that the rbt's dialgue was preprgrammed.
Als, I have fund that these are nt limited t schl settings. Service rbts in sme health care facilities have been prgrammed t deliver medicine, but this requires special sensrs and prgramming. Stres and restaurants are experimenting with delivery and cleaning rbts. But when a grcery stre in Sctland tried t use“ Pepper” fr custmer interactins, the rbt was fired after a week.
While the scial rbts currently used in schls are limited in functins, they can still prvide useful learning experiences. Students can use them t learn mre abut rbtics and artificial intelligence. Struggling with a rbt's limitatins gives students real insights int the cmplicated nature f human scial interactin. The pprtunity t d hands- n wrk with a scial rbt shws students hw difficult it is t prgram rbts t cpy human behavir. As Al becmes a bigger part f ur wrk and lives, we need t teach students t think critically abut what it means t live and wrk with scial machines.

A. Rbtics still has rm fr imprvement.
B. Technlgy has changed the way we wrk
C. Many fields are pen t experimenting with rbts.

There seems t be a wealth f ptins at ur fingertips. But hw d we knw the ptins that pp up in frnt f us really are the best deals, and hw might algrithms (算法) help r hld us back?
Algrithms, simply put, are mathematical instructins which tell a cmputer hw t slve prblems. When shpping is invlved, what is the prblem they slve? Well, they instruct a cmputer which advertisements t shw and which prducts a user is mst likely t buy. By analyzing the things we bught r lked at previusly algrithms can predict what gds we' re mst likely t be attracted by.
Fr sme peple, the idea f smething guessing yur preferences culd sund a bit wrrying. But first, let's lk at the psitives. By telling a cmputer t shw us what we are interested in, it can nt nly save us a lt f time, but als help us find the best deals. Hwever, there are sme peple wh have cncerns abut the impact f algrithms n ur shpping experience. It is pssible that algrithms may nly select ptins frm a limited number f brands, r may favur prducts frm certain cmpanies. There are als cncerns that we aren't always shwn the cheapest r best deal, even thugh that's what we' re searching fr.
S, the takeaway frm this is that algrithms are here t stay, and it's wise t knw they exist. Whenever yu are shpping, be it; nline r ff, make sure yu shp arund fr the best deals. The first thing yu see might nt always be the best fr yu.

A. The previus cnsuming recrds.
B. The mst advertisements they see.
C. The frequency f visiting the stre.
D. The amunt f mney they spend.
30. What des the authr think f algrithms used fr nline shpping?
A. Dubtful. B. Beneficial.
C. Negative. D. Wrrying.
31. Which message des the authr want t cnvey in the last paragraph?
A. Many hands make light wrk. B. Actins speak luder than wrds.
C. Only the feet tell if the shes fit. D. Only cmparing can see the gap.

In additin t the direct impact f pllutin, the resulting climate change has caused heat waves that have killed mre than 24,000 peple in the cuntry since 1992, accrding t a study published by the University f Cambridge.
Amit estimated that maybe 100 f the twers wuld be required t filter the air acrss central New Delhi, thugh further research and a“ full- scale mdel” wuld be required t calculate mre figures. The devices are als designed t be easily transprted, with the hpe that they can be adpted n a larger scale.
The filters, which need t be changed every three t nine mnths, are partly recyclable. Nise generated by the twers is, at a maximum f 75 decibels, similar t that f a standard kitchen exhaust fan (排風扇). T reduce Vert's envirnmental impact, Studi Symbisis installed energy- efficient smart fans that vary accrding t lcal cnditins, slwing dwn when pllutin is lw, r when strng winds prvide natural air flw.

A. Cst- effective. B. Uniquely- designed.
C. Ec- friendly. D. Cmpletely- recycled
35. What is the best title fr the text?
A. The air cleaning twer in India B. The bad air quality in New Delhi
C. The filtratin twer's glbal trend D. Smart fans' envirnmental purpse
