Why des the authr chse t use sentences (a), (b), and (c) in the reading passage?
Because there is a clser link and cnnectin between the item and the clause defining it in the sentences (a), (b) and (c). It will als make the passage clearer, and create an emphatic effect n the lcatin, time and reasn being defined.

where在定語從句中用作地點狀語,其先行詞須是表地點的名詞。如: This is the schl where I studied a few years ag.
關(guān)系副詞在定語從句中的用法
why在定語從句中用作原因狀語,其先行詞一般是reasn(s)。如: D yu knw the reasn why he is nt here?
when在定語從句中用作時間狀語,其先行詞須是表時間的名詞。如: Can yu tell me the time when the film will start?
【拓展】1) 當(dāng) situatin, case, pint (地點), ccasin(場合) 等充當(dāng)先行詞,且在定語從句中作地點狀語時,定語從句引導(dǎo)詞用where;如: Yu culd get int a situatin where yu have t decide immediately. 你可能遇上一種情況,使你不得不立刻作出決定。 Three hurs later, ur bus reached the pint where the rad divides. 三小時后我們的車到達(dá)路的分岔處。
