Suddenly, a scratching sund emerged frm the attic (閣樓). Rb assumed that it might be sme kind f animal. Curisity gt the better f us, and we ventured twards the surce f the sund.
I cautiusly pened the attic dr in the hall. The nise ceased abruptly. I climbed up the stairs, Rb fllwing my lead. There behind the ty bx near the chimney std the animal—black with a distinct white stripe dwn his back. Was he scared and trembling? I believe s, at least that’s what I remember. Instinctively, I retreated, fearing the ptential spray r bites frm the creature. “Hey, Rb,” I whispered urgently, “It’s a skunk. Let’s g t the kitchen and figure ut a way t get him ut f here.”
