Dad mixed the milk and flur t make the dugh. The first step almst exhausted my patience. Next came the mst difficult but amusing part — ding nthing. We waited fr an hur fr the dugh t slwly swell and duble in size. Then we beat the risen dugh dwn t let the air ut, divided it int tw and waited fr anther hur. “Take yur time. The waiting time was nt as lng as I had imagined befre. In the ven, the rdinary and even ugly dugh gradually turned int a laf f inviting bread.
When I tasted the bread, I seemed t understand the meaning f “bread spirit”. All the waiting was wrthwhile the mment I saw the result. Curving int a bright smile, I held the bread and uttered, “The prcess f baking is similar t the swimming practice, and the mst essential part f ‘bread spirit’ is the patience.” Upn hearing my wrds, my dad smiled with relief and gave me a thumbs up.
