Tm wke up and lked arund. Fr a mment, he wasn’t sure where he was. Then he remembered. He and his sister, Lucy, were visiting Aunt Gwen. Yesterday they spent seven hurs helping Aunt Gwen clean her basement. Tday they wuld have time t play.

“Hi, sleepyhead(貪睡者),” said Aunt Gwen. “Lucy has already eaten her breakfast. She’s utside.”

A shrt time later, he zipped up(拉上拉鏈)his cat, put n his bts, and walked ut f the frnt dr. The sun made the snw sparkle. He lked arund. He didn’t see his sister, but he saw smething else. There were strange ftprints left in the snw acrss Aunt Gwen’s yard.
“They’re far t big t be Lucy’s. They lk like they belng t a dinsaur,” Tm said. Then he added, “But that’s silly. Dinsaurs are nt arund anymre.”
He lked clser: The ftprints were the shape f a very large val(橢圓)with a stem. “Maybe they belng t an elephant r a hipp that escaped frm the z,” he thught. He held his breath and listened. He didn’t hear anything.
He remembered a bk he’d seen earlier n Aunt Gwen’s shelf. It was a bk abut animal tracks. He dashed inside t get it. The bk had pictures f animals and the tracks they made. He turned the pages ne by ne, but nne f the phts lked like the ftprints in Aunt Gwen’s yard.
He stared at thse ftprints again. An animal that made such big tracks wuld have t be heavy. Its tracks shuld sink far dwn int the snw. Yet these ftprints seemed t skim acrss(掠過)the tp.
Hw can that be? He wndered.
Tm nticed smething else. The tracks never left Aunt Gwen’s yard. Instead, they turned and went arund the huse. “Maybe the animal is still here,” he whispered.
