The flwer desn’t use verbs r adjectives t tell a pllinatr (傳粉昆蟲) that it lks pretty when the pllinatr flies by, at least nt as far as we knw. But plants d respnd t the sund f bees buzzing thrugh the air, greeting them with mre sweet nectar (花蜜) in hpes f attracting them t land. It is a petic and practical language that increases everyne’s chances f survival. Scientists increasingly believe that animals and plants cmmunicate with each ther. Thanks t a new study n “natural language”, nw there’s additinal evidence that measures hw evening primrses (月見草) respnd t sund.
The research team played sunds like that f bees’ wings beating t evening primrses. The flwers vibrated (振動(dòng)) when they heard the sunds. It’s as if they were listening. Other sunds, played at different frequencies, didn’t lead t the same result. The flwers vibrated, but didn’t increase the sweetness f their nectar prductin. The average sugar cncentratin was 20% higher in flwers expsed t pllinatr-like frequencies, but remained stable at the sund f higher frequency recrdings and silence.
These findings led the researchers t argue that flwers functin as a plant’s ears, infrming the plant as a whle f what’s ging n nearby and when it’s time t attract a pllinatr. Plants have t be sensitive t the sund f pllinatrs because they have an interdependent relatinship with ne anther. The plants rely n the pllinatrs fr reprductin, s they prduce a sweeter nectar as a kind f seductin. And the bees eat the nectar, which means they’ll be adjusted t what the flwers are ding and drawn t the sweeter fd. It pays fr flwers t be able t distinguish between the sund f bats as cmpared t bees, fr example, and fr the pllinatrs, it’s wrthwhile t find the best fd in the least amunt f time.
While this study is just a first step in understanding hw plants respnd t sund, and studies n ther species must be dne next t better understand hw flwers listen.
28. Hw did the researchers d the experiment?
A. By vibrating the flwers.B. By expsing plants t pllinatrs.
C. By imitating the sund f insects.D. By increasing the sweetness f nectar.
29. What des the underlined wrd “seductin” mean in paragraph 3?
A. Prductin.B. Attractin.C. Value.D. Adjustment.
30. In which aspect d plants benefit frm listening?
A. Saving resurces.B. Prviding mre fd.
C. Knwing different species.D. Prmting the reprductin.
31. What des the study mainly fcus n?
A. Hw certain plants react t sund.B. Hw t interact with plants.
C. The languages used in nature.D. The methds f survival fr plants.

China’s telescpe, planned t be launched at the end f 2023, is expected t prvide humankind with fresh knwledge abut distant galaxies, mysterius dark matter, and the past and future evlutins f the universe.
Chinese Survey Space Telescpe (CSST), als knwn as Xuntian Space Telescpe, is a space-based ptical (光學(xué)的) bservatry fr astrnmers t carry ut sky surveys, capturing a general map r images f the sky.
The CSST is a bus-sized facility with a length equal t that f a three-stried building. It has an aperture (孔徑) f tw meters, a bit smaller than the Hubble Space Telescpe, but its field f view is 350 times larger than Hubble in area. “The field f view is the area f the sky a telescpe can see at ne time,” said Li Ran, prject scientist f the CSST Scientific Data Reductin System. “Hubble’s field f view is apprximately ne percent f the size f a fingernail at an arm’s length, thereby the telescpe, in its thirties, bserved nly a tiny part f the sky.” Li added.
The telescpe, during its nrmal bservatins, will fly independently in the same rbit as China’s space statin but will maintain a large distance apart. Li said the telescpe was designed, in its initial plan, t be placed n the space statin, but there wuld be disadvantages such as vibratin, ptential pllutin and line-f-sight blck frm the space statin. The CSST can land n the space statin fr refueling and servicing as needed.
“The telescpe can bring China’s research in ptical astrnmy t the frefrnt f the wrld and help cultivate (培養(yǎng)) wrld-class Chinese scientists,” Li nted. “It can als take breathtaking visible pictures, allwing the public t directly feel and understand the universe.”

33. What is paragraph 3 mainly abut?
A. The visual field f Hubble.B. The usable life span f a telescpe.
C. The advantages f the CSST.D. The size f the aperture f Xuntian.
34. Why des the CSST fly independently in space?
A. T learn hw t fly safely.B. T land accurately.
C. T get higher quality pictures.D. T avid ptential negative influence.
35. What is the significance f the CSST?
A. It can help t train the wrld’s astrnmy scientists.
B. It will prmte China’s ability in ptical device making.
C. It will give the public chances t bserve the universe directly.
D. It will help China hld a leading psitin in ptical astrnmy.
