This evening it was almst 8 'clck when my father burst in. He was an hur late fr dinner. His md seemed thunderus. He culd nt sit dwn but circled the lng dining-rm table with a drink in his hand, calling dwn terrible ath(詛咒)n his emplyees.
Suddenly, he paused and stared at his plate. There was a suspenseful silence. “What is this?” He was reaching fr my pem. I lwered my head and stared dwn int my plate. I was full f anxius daydreams. Hw wnderful it wuld be if this very first wrk f mine drve away the angry cluds that nw darkened my imprtant father’s face.
“Ben, a wnderful thing has happened,” my mther began. “Buddy has written his first pem! And it’s beautiful.”
“If yu dn’t mind, I’d like t decide fr myself.” Father said.
I kept my face lwered t my plate as he read that pem. It culdn’t have taken very lng t read that pem. It was nly ten lines. But it seemed t take hurs. I culd hear him drpping the pem back n the table.
