Blues, a type f music, develped during the late 19th century in the United States. It was started by African American perfrmers. We can say blues music started arund 1890, thugh we dn’t have many recrds abut the early histry f blues.
The first publicatin(發(fā)行) f blues sheet music was Hart Wand’s “Dallas Blues” in 1912. Then ’s “The Memphis Blues” fllwed in the same year. The first recrding by an African American singer was Mamie Smith’s “Crazy Blues” in 1920.
Wrld WarⅡmarked the changing frm acustic(原聲的) t electric blues and great pening f blues music t many peple, especially sme white listeners.
During the 1930s, the blacks travelled nrth twards Chicag. They brught with them blues music, and sn the sund f it filled night clubs in the city. Chicag became the center f blues music. A new type f blues was made—Chicag blues and it was mre pwerful than all types befre.
Blues music became even mre ppular in the late 1950s. In 1958 the Kingstn Tri recrded the number 1 hit, Tm Dley, which was ranked(排名) first at American flk sngs ranking list. Fr eight years, frm 1958 t 1966, the Newprt Frk Festival intrduced flk and blues music t the white American peple. Finally, it became ppular amng the whites.
After this time, blues was fast merged(融合) with rck music t frm the rck blues bands f the 1960s and 70s. The Rllings Stnes, Jhn Mayall, Led Zeppelin and thers were all famus fr their blues music. Blues als directly r indirectly influenced mst f ppular music during the 20th century, such as jazz, rck, and R&B.
