Teaching prcedure：
Step 1: G ver the wrds
1. Read the wrds in the bxes.
(If sme students knw sme f the wrds, yu’d better ask them t explain in English.)
2. Cmplete the sentences.
Say: Please study hw the wrds in the bxes are used in the stry, then use them t cmplete the fllwing sentences.

Step 5: Ask and answer.
1. Why did Captain King and his crew members land n an unexplred planet?
They were running ut f fd.
2. Where did they land?
They landed in a valley clse t a great cliff f smth, black rck.
3. Hw did they knw it was the hme f a mnster?
The furniture inside was earth-type, but huge! Peple culd play tennis n the bed and have a bath in the bwl n the bedside table.
4. What did the mnster lk like?
It lked almst human except that is had a single, huge, red, glwing eye.
5. What pulled their guns frm their hands?
A pwerful magnet did.
Step 6: Qute the wrds.
Say: After the interview, the reprter gives sme pinins abut the stry. D yu want t knw the evidence he has fr these pinins? Please read the stry and qute the wrds that give the evidence.

4. Grk's rar frightened the captain and crew.

Grk said that it was their custm t kill all aliens.
6. Grk was cruller t the captin than t the rest f the crew.
Grk said t the captain, "yu'll be the last ne t die".
7. Peters was frightened.
The stry says that his vice shk when he spke.
8. The captain was sure that he culd save his men.
He said, 'Trust me'.
Step 7: Fill the blanks accrding t the stry.
Peters and his crew members landed n an unexplred planet. They gt ut f the spacecraft and fund they were in a valley near a great cliff. In the cliff there was a cave f tw streys high.
They went int it and fund the things inside were very huge. They realized they were in the hme f a mnster. Just at that time, a giant, single-eyed mnster appeared. He was Grk. When Grk saw them he rared with anger. Grk said it was their custm t kill aliens in this valley. Grk trapped them in a cage and used a magnet t take their guns away.
All the crew members were very frightened. They thught the mnster wasn’t friendly at all. Captain King tld Grk his name was Nbdy because he had already had a gd plan. He als tld the crew members t trust him.
Step 8: classrm discussin
Say: Captain King and his crew members were caught by Grk, but Captain King wasn’t afraid. He tld Grk his name was ‘Nbdy’. Why did Peters say his name was 'Nbdy'? Nw let’s have a discussin. Please discuss in grups f fur, and then each grup gives class a reprt.
