The General Idea f This Perid:
This perid aims at training students’ tw skills—understanding general idea and getting detailed infrmatin by getting familiar with tnes and intnatin in spken English and learning t grasp the key wrds t help the students t finish the relative exercises.Als in this perid students can meet the theme f this unit again.
Teaching Aims:
1.Make sure the students knw the usage f tnes and intnatin in spken English and grasp the methds f getting the general idea and detailed infrmatin.
2.Help the Ss learn sme key wrds and expressins.
3.Help the students learn hw t master the patterns that can be used t describe cultural relics by listening.
Teaching Imprtant Pints:
1.Make sure the students knw the imprtance f tnes in spken English.
2.Help the students learn hw t grasp the key wrds that can help the students t answer questins.

Hw t help the students t imprve their listening ability.

2.Ding sme writing exercises when they are listening t imprve the students’ cmplex ability f English learning.

A tape recrder,a multi-media cmputer and a blackbard.
Teaching Prcedures:
Step 1 Revisin
1.Greetings.
T:Last class we learnt sme drills t discuss which persn gives the best evidence,and hw t express yur agreement and disagreement,nw I want t ask sme students t tell me all the drills.
Ask sme students t tell the drills,the teacher can write what the students say n the blackbard.
T:Last class I asked yu t write a letter as yur hmewrk,nw please take it ut,I want t ask sme students t read yur letters t us.
Ask sme students t read their letters,ther students try t find ut the mistakes and crrect them.
Step 2 Listening (P41)
1.Listening fr main idea
T:Listen t the tape,try t remember the main idea and sme key pints f the listening passage.
After the students listen fr the first time,ask sme students t tell sme key pints abut what they listened,when they are telling,the teacher write the key pints n the blackbard,it can help the students t finish the fllwing exercises.
2.Listening fr detailed infrmatin
Listen again t the tape that talks abut a temple in Egypt,and then answer the questins n Page 41.
First,students check their answers each ther.Later,the teacher asks sme students t read ut their answers,and the teacher shws the suggested answers n the screen.
T:As we knw,the Aswan Dam is ne f the ancient cultural relics made by the peple in the ld times.Nw,there are als sme well-designed buildings that may becme cultural relics in the future.Fr example,The Bank f China Building in Hng Kng designed by I M Pei.D yu want t knw the stry f the designers?Next,we’ll listen t a tape abut I M Pei,a famus architect.
Step 3 Listening Task (P44)
T:Nw please listen t the tape,yu have three times.At first time,try t get the main idea and sme key pints just like in the last part.At secnd time,try t finish Exercise 2 n Page 44.At the last time,make sme ntes abut I M Pei’s life,and try t finish Exercise 1 n Page 44.
After the last time,the teacher gives the students three minutes t make a shrt dialgue accrding t the ntes they tk,then ask sme pairs t act ut their dialgue.
