定冠詞the通常對所修飾的名詞有限定作用,表示“這個、那個、這些、那些”。“Am I nw n the mn?”中的mn是獨一無二的事物,獨一無二的事物前的冠詞必須用the。
定冠詞the的其他用法:
如:The girl in blue is my sister. The ruler n the bx is mine.
2.用在形容詞前,表示一類人。
如:We shuld help the blind. The yung shuld respect the ld.
3.用在上文提到過的人或物前。
如:I have a bk. The bk is n the desk. Tm saw a film last night. The film is abut animals.
4.用在序數(shù)詞或形容詞、副詞最高級前。
如:July is the seventh mnth. Mary is the yungest teacher in ur schl.
5.用在某些專有名詞前。
如:the Peple’s Republic f China the United States
6.用在表示樂器的名詞前。

8.用在姓氏的復(fù)數(shù)形式前,指家庭或夫婦。
