(Let students watch the 6 words. ) At last, the teacher and the students say together: we can add –ful or –less to some nouns to form adjectives. The suffix –ful means “full of”. The suffix –less means “without”. 板書:n.+ful=adj. n.+less=adj. Step Ⅱ Practice 1. Can you remember any other words like them? (Let students think freely.) n. n.+ful=adj. n.+less=adj. colour colourful colourless harm harmful harmless thank thankful thankless …… Read these words and finish A on page A39. 2. Let students read the answers. Q: All the words above have suffixes –ful and –less? You can use your dictionaries. S: …… T: Yes, “sleep” and “end” don’t have the suffix –ful. And another word “wonder” can be changed into “wonderful” but not “wonderless”. 3. Read the words and master their meanings. (use dictionaries) Then make sentences with these words. For example: They are telling tasteless jokes in the tasteful room. (You can also use them in 2 sentences.) 4. Finish the exercises B on page 39. Check the answers. Let students underline some important phrases. Step Ⅲ Continuation We can add –ful or –less to some nouns to form adjectives. What can we also add to any other nouns to form adjectives?
