After schl, I returned hme and dragged t my rm. Feeling a stab f guilt verwhelming me, I threw myself n the bed and buried my face in the pillw, tears f regret rlling dwn my cheeks. With my friend's wrds lingering in my mind, I felt my stmach tightened and kntted badly frm the shame. Staring at the my drawing f the bike, I gradually realized that I needed t fix it and made up my mind t cnfess and return the bike. Hwever, nt knwing where he lived, I gathered all my curage and came up t mm t ask fr help, telling her everything with uneasiness. T my surprise, instead f giving me a gd sclding, mm just ndded apprvingly and patted me gently n the head.
"I knw Tyler's huse," Mm said. "I'll drive yu there." Carrying the bike and heading twards his huse, s nervus did I feel that my thrat tightened and my palms kept sweating. When we finally arrived, hesitant thugh I was, I clenched my fists and kncked at the dr. Seeing Tyler cming ut with his face lit up by the bike, I immediately explained in a weak vice and made a sincere aplgy. Surprisingly, instead f getting mad at me, he frgave me with a brad smile, hugging me sftly and even ffering t lend me his bike. A wave f relief welling up in my heart n the way hme, I came t realize that t live a life f hnesty and integrity is a respnsibility f every decent persn.

M: It’s a small twn abut a six-hur drive frm here. There is an ld-style main street just like ne in the gd ld days, yu knw. It was really amazing. Alng the street, there are many ld shps, and the peple are very friendly.
W: I’m nt sure I’d want t travel back in time. It desn’t sund very exciting.
M: It was nt as lively as sme places I had been t, but I enjyed the ld shps, the sincere peple and the true friendliness.
W: What did yu d there?
M: Fr an entire week, I visited the shps, ate at the family-wned restaurants, and learned abut the unusual histry f the twn by chatting with the ld-timers at the lcal bar.
W: But that sunds like a bring place t me.
M: Then I guess yu wuldn’t want t g back with me this summer fr their music festival.
W: Did yu say music festival? Maybe I shuldn’t dismiss small-twn appeal quite s quickly.

M: Sure, I had a really gd stay here.

W: Well, nw let me tell yu what I’ve been ding in recent years. In 2015, I retired frm my pst as a designer fr a furniture cmpany. And since then, I’ve been wrking as a vlunteer. In 2017, I jined Green Wdpecker — an rganizatin that prmtes envirnmental prtectin. At the beginning, I mstly wrked in public squares near the west railway statin, helping the traffic plice and giving directins t passengers. Then my wrk fcus changed. When ur city adpted the new tbacc cntrl rules in June, 2018, I began a new task: persuading peple nt t smke in public places. In additin t the railway statin, I have been ging t places where there are many restaurants and bars. We wrk in grups f three, and try t stp peple frm smking. Frtunately, mst smkers are supprtive and put ut their cigarettes when we ask them t, but that was nt the case in the early days — sme smkers culd becme quite vilent.
I like being a vlunteer. The wrk is exciting and makes me feel yung. It has nw becme part f my life.
