The schl prvides an pen space serving as a platfrm fr the visually-challenged students t play, perfrm, r celebrate festivals and the students are easy t rient themselves accrding t the sund, smell, sight and tuch. “The idea behind the design was t make the schl mre accessible t the students,” Snecha says, “They cme frm remte villages and twns in Gujarat, and I am eager t help them.”
During the cnstructin, Snecha used cntrasting clrs s that students culd easily distinguish between the elements. Blue was used fr all classrm drs, yellw fr the entrance gate, black fr switch buttns, and yellw and green fr the furniture. All these clrs cntrasted with the white walls f the schl, helping the students lcate different elements. Different areas are f different height and width, which makes the sunds and nises change accrding t the ech (回音) prduced in these spaces. Furthermre, he cperated with fellw landscape architect Lkendra Balasaria t plant mre than 1, 000 plants f 37 species. "A fish ut f water." "A bike withut a chain." There are many metaphrs fr culture shck, all f which attempt t describe the unique experience f being far frm ne’s hme cuntry and culture.
Scientists have studied culture shck fr ver a century. Rather than fcusing n the purely negative aspects, psychlgists describe it as a prcess f stress and adjustment. The first stage is the hneymn phase, when we are filled with excitement abut being in anther cuntry. Eventually, as daily challenges arise, we enter a state f crisis and anxiety, harbring (懷有) unfriendly feelings abut the hst culture. The lnger we are immersed in the culture, we adjust and recver frm thse negative feelings. Finally, after sme time we adjust even mre and fully accept the new culture.
One f the factrs that determine hw we react t cultural stress is ur persnality. Nt surprisingly, extraverts (外向者) tend t have an easier time adjusting t new cultures. That is because being in a new cuntry means meeting many new peple and spending a lt f time arund them, and extraverts thrive in these situatins. But intrverts simply prefer t be alne after spending time in grups, and nly have limited energy t spend in scial settings.
Cultural intelligence, r CQ, als plays its part. Cultural intelligence is defined as the capability f an individual t functin effectively in situatins characterized by cultural diversity. It has t d with ur interest in interacting with peple frm culturally diverse backgrunds, and ur ability t adapt t new cultural cntext. It is argued that the higher ur CQ, the lesser the effect f culture shck n ur ability t cpe in new situatins.
Many effective cping strategies are interpersnal. A recent study fund that relating t thers with empathy is significantly assciated with lwer stress levels abrad. The mre we are able t take n ther peple’s pints f view, the mre psitive ur interpersnal relatinships and thus ur adaptatin t the stress f culture shck.

10. Wh will mst prbably be affected by the cultural shck?
A.An active by interested in anything new.
B.A shy by unwilling t scialize with strangers.
C.A quiet girl pen t diverse cultural backgrunds.
D.A cmmunicative girl fluent in the lcal language.
11. What is imprtant fr dealing with the cultural shck?

A few days ag, I watched a vide f myself talking in perfect Chinese. I’ve been studying the language n and ff fr nly a few years, and I’m far frm fluent. But there I was, prnuncing each character just as a native speaker wuld. “My favrite fd is sushi,” I said — w zui xihuan de shiwu shi shusi.
I’d created the vide using sftware frm a Ls Angeles-based artificial-intelligence start-up cmpany called HeyGen. The technlgy, which nly needs a single selfie and a script t generate deep-fake vides f real peple "saying" almst anything, is evidence f the advancements in AI language tls. This gt me thinking abut the declining interest in language learning with fewer students enrlling in freign language curses and the decrease f English prficiency(精通) amng yung peple in sme places.
AI translatin, integrated int scial media and messaging platfrms, seems t be
everywhere. Even language-learning apps are using AI-generated cntent in their marketing. Hwever, language translatin is an art rather than a science. Smething enrmus will be lst in exchange fr that cnvenience. As Anne, a Chinese translatr, said, "Building a ladder between widely different languages, such as Chinese and English, is smetimes as difficult as a dctr building a bridge in a patient’s heart. "
Language learning fsters cultural awareness, a skill that AI cannt simply cpy. Learning a different way t speak, read, and write helps peple discver new ways t see the wrld. N machine can replace such a prfundly human experience. Debrah Chn, a language prfessr, emphasizes that language learning is actually abut understanding and cnnecting with different cultures. Instead f abandning language curses in favr f AI, sme educatrs advcate fr emphasizing the intercultural aspects f language learning. Paula Krebs f the MLA pints ut that even with a "universal translatr", smetimes the greater meaning f peple’s utterance ( 言辭) remains a mystery.
In essence, while AI language tls ffer cnvenience, they lack the depth and cultural insight that cmes frm human language learning. The challenge and beauty f learning a language are in understanding the cultural tapestry (織錦) that weaves thrugh wrds, smething AI has yet t achieve.

⑤本段的主題是"Stp cmparing yurself t thers",即不要拿自己和別人比較。下文"One persn is beautiful in ne way, and the next persn in sme ther way.(一個人在某一方面很美,另一個人在另一方面很美)"可知,選項應解釋不要拿自己和別人比較的原因:每個人都是不同的。故C選項"人有各種身材和大小"切題。故選C項。
