Last year, as my then-9-year-ld sn, Lepld, and I were preparing fr a mm-sn ski trip t Keystne, Clrad, I came up with a rule: We wuld say yes t everything.
Lepld is a picky eater and can be hesitant t try new things. Accrding t him, it's because he has fears, including heights, spiders and the dark. I was hping t find a slutin. S I brrwed the idea f a Yes Day, after watching the mvie f the same name. Befre the trip, Lepld and I agreed we wuld say yes t everything, especially new nes.
Settled at ur htel, I tk Lepld t meet his snwbarding instructr. Thugh he had basic lessns in Cnnecticut, this was his first time n a larger muntain. While he learned, I skied by myself, chsing an easy green run n day ne. Inspired by Lepld's bravery n the chairlift, I challenged myself t ski a mre demanding blue run the next day. It was steep(陡峭的), but with careful turns, I made it dwn in ne piece, feeling prud f cnquering a new challenge.
Later that afternn, when Lepld and I were reunited, he asked if we culd g in the utdr ht tub(浴池). Mind yu, it was a 20-degree day, and the nly thing I hate mre than being cld is being cld and wet! When I started t bject, Lepld reminded me f the rule.
Yes, it was cld, and yes, I was wet. But it was als refreshing t feel the cld air n my skin, and the warm water f the ht tub felt that much better nce we gt in. Getting ut was a different stry, but the experience was a delight as Lepld and I braved it tgether.
Develping a sense f adventure helps us live life t the fullest even if yu smetimes wind up cld and wet.

Switching fd and drink purchases t very similar but mre envirnmentally friendly alternatives culd reduce the greenhuse gas emissins frm husehld grceries by mre than a quarter (26%), accrding t a new Australian study frm The Gerge Institute published in Nature Fd. Making bigger changes—like swapping a frzen meat lasagne (寬面條) fr the vegetarian ptin—culd push the reductin t as much as 71%.
Lead authr Dr Allisn Gaines said, “Dietary habits need t change significantly if we are t meet glbal emissins targets, particularly in high- incme cuntries like Australia, the UK, and the US.” But while cnsumers are increasingly aware f the envirnmental impact f the fd system, they lack reliable infrmatin t identify the mre envirnmentally friendly ptins.
Researchers calculated the prjected emissins f annual grcery purchases frm 7,000 Australian husehlds in The Gerge Institute’s FdSwitch database and glbal envirnmental impact datasets. Mre than 22,000 prducts were assigned t majr, minr and sub- categries f fds(e. g. ‘bread and bakery’, ‘bread’ and ‘white bread’, respectively) t quantify emissins saved by switching bth within and between grups. Making switches within the same
sub-categries f fds culd lead t emissin reductins f 26% in Australia, equivalent t taking ver 1.9 millin cars ff the rad. Switches within minr categries f fds culd lead t even bigger emissin reductins f 71%.
The results f the study shw the ptential t significantly reduce ur envirnmental impact by switching like-fr-like prducts. “It shwed that yu can switch t lwer emissins prducts while still enjying nutritius fds,” Dr Gaines added.
A free app, called ecSwitch, has been develped currently available in Australia, based n this research. Shppers can use their device t scan a prduct barcde and check its ‘Planetary Health Rating’, a measure f its emissins shwn as a scre between half a star(high emissins) t five stars (lw emissins).
“While ecSwitch is a much-needed first step in prviding envirnmental transparency (透明度) fr grcery shppers, the visin is fr cmpulsive display f a single, standardised sustainability rating system n all supermarket prducts,” cncluded prf Neal, Prfessr f Clinical Epidemilgy at Imperial Cllege Lndn.
    28. What des the authr want t shw by listing numbers in paragraph 1?
    A. The impact f fd industry. B. The need f changing daily diet.
    C. The status f envirnmental prblems. D. The influencing factrs f gas emissins.
    29. Why d researchers make a detailed classificatin fr prducts?
    A. T set up a cmprehensive database.
    B. T figure ut the detailed fd categries.
    C. T identify emissins reduced by switching fd.
    D. T ensure less air pllutin caused by fd ptins.
    30. What d we knw abut ecSwitch?
    A. It is ppular in high- incme cuntries.
    B. It checks the emissins f star prducts.
    C. It is a measurement system fr a supermarket.
    D. It ensures wiser chices fr fd purchase.
    31. What des the text mainly talk abut?
    A. EcSwitch makes custmers aware f fd risk.
    B. Fd swaps cntribute t envirnmental sustainability.
    C. Envirnmental prblems accunt fr less fd nutritin.
    D. Greenhuse gas emissins have an effect n fd safety.

The state f Maine is famus fr its delicius wild blueberries. The blueberries grw well n barren muntaintps, in abandned fields, alng rural radsides r where mst ther plants dn’t. They are als decidedly native as they have been grwing in this landscape fr mre than 10,000 years.
At David Dickey’s small farm, farmers harvest blueberries, packing a burst f sweetness int tiny purple package. They’re als harvesting sunshine. A grid(格子)f slar panels stands a few feet abve fur hectares (10 acres) f the land. The electricity these generate pwers a few hundred nearby hmes. Under and arund these panels are extending fields f the lw, thick blueberry bushes.
Slar panels generate electric pwer withut sending ut the carbn dixide and ther greenhuse gases that fssil fuels release as they’re burned. Fixing slar panels n farms helps slve anther majr prblem: finding the space t cllect enugh sunlight t prduce enugh supply f electricity.
This cncept is called “Agrivltaics”. The wrd cmbines “agriculture” with “phtvltaics (光伏)”. Phtvltaic materials — such as slar panels — generate electric current frm sunlight.
Grwing crps requires hard wrk—ften generating nly a lw incme. Agrivltaic prjects can benefit farmers by giving them a secnd crp: electric pwer. Als, farmers can pick up sme extra cash by renting their land t pwer cmpanies that will fix their wn slar panels n the site.
At the University f Maine in Orn, Dr. Calderwd fcuses n finding ways t grw better berries. Her wrk includes studying hw the bushes can be planted t prduce delicius berries despite the shade cast by the slar panels at Dickey’s farm.
“Althugh the idea behind Agrivltaics has been arund fr decades, it’s really just explded ver the last few years. Arund the wrld, farmers and slar cmpanies are wrking tgether t cmbine farming with the prductin f electricity,” Calderwd says.
Hw is the secnd paragraph develped?
A.By giving descriptins. B.By making predictins.
C.By making cmparisns. D.By ffering suggestins.
    33. Hw d the slar panels make a difference in generating electricity?
A.They take up less space. B.They prduce n pllutin.
C.They blck ut direct sunlight. D.They avid the waste f electricity.
    34. What is the main advantage f Agrivltaic prjects?
    A.Increased agricultural prductivity.
    B.Reductin in greenhuse gas emissins.
C.Additinal surce f incme fr farmers.
    D.Prmtin f sustainable farming practices.
    35. What can we learn abut Agrivltaic prjects?
A.They are a creative idea. B.They are in a grwing trend.
C.They are nly useful t farmers. D.They are a traditinal farming.
