Wearable technlgy has ther uses, t. It allws peple t play vide games n devices like VR headsets. And peple in the medical industry have develped implantable devices. These devices are placed inside f yur bdy. One example is a pill that sends health infrmatin frm inside yur stmach t a smartphne.
Isn't all this wearable technlgy tday interesting? If yu think s, yu may find the future f wearable technlgy even mre exciting, such as self-pwered shes. Scientists are develping smart shes. A few years ag, I did research n mss (苔蘚)t make a living. Once I accidentally mentined my jb t my barber, he laughed at me. Then every time I gt my haircut, he culdn't get past it. My example certainly isn't a ne-ff situatin. Researchers acrss all fields f science have had similar experiences. But I feel plant scientists are frced t g thrugh such situatins especially regularly.
Many peple ask me why I am nt ding mre "useful" studies—n things like cancer(癌癥)r dementia. My answer t their questins is simple. Plant science can help feed the wrld. Millins f peple wrldwide die f hunger every year. It's nt that we aren't prducing enugh fd; it's just that we are wasting a lt f it. Plant science can help t reduce this waste. One example is apples that brwn slwer. They are less likely t be thrwn away. Plants can als help us prtect ur envirnment. They are imprtant in ur fight against climate change. Mrever, discveries in plant science have als paved the way fr studies in many ther areas f science. In shrt, plant science isn't useless at all.
At an event at a lcal secndary schl, I was surprised t learn that nne f the teenagers aged frm 14 t 15 culd recgnize the rice plant. This perhaps shws the level f interest in plants amng tday's yung peple. It's very wrrying. If students aren't interested in plants, they are unlikely t study them in the future. They will never knw hw imprtant plant science is.
Schls culd and shuld d mre t change their ideas. The Rcket Science campaign(活動) was a great example. It saw six hundred thusand children becme space bilgists. The pupils swed and grew seeds that later spent six mnths n the Internatinal Space Statin. Such events are able t drum up students' interest in plant science. Unfrtunately, there are t few f them.
Plant science is much mre useful than many peple think. I hpe that mre peple, especially yung students, will take a secnd lk at it.

N ne knws wh invented the buttn (扣子). It might have appeared as early as 2,000 BC. When it first started, it was just smething beautiful sewn (縫上) nt yur clthes. What is mre imprtant than the buttn is the buttnhle (扣眼). Abut 3,000 years later, smene finally invented the buttnhle, and buttns were suddenly useful.
Befre buttns, clthes were bigger—they had n fixed shapes. Because f the buttnhle, the fashin mved clsers t the bdy when we discvered uses fr the buttn. It was the very way t make clthes fit well fr the bdy. Peple feel safer like it’s never ging t pen.
The size f the buttn depends n its use. Shirt buttns are generally small, and they are clse t each ther, while cat buttns are larger and farther apart. Fr example, the standard buttns f men’s shirts are 10.16 mm and f suit jackets are 20.32 mm.
In mdern clthing and fashin design, buttns are mstly made f plastic but als may be made f metal r wd. Buttns can als be used n wallet bags. They can be shwn as examples f wrks f art.
A buttn can be used fr a lng time. It’s ne f the mst lasting designs in histry, because it really wrks t make peple feel safer. Zippers easily break and are hard t fix. Hwever, if a buttn breaks, yu just need t sew anther n. And yu can sew mre buttns if needed.

Lasting fr abut an hur, the space lecture was given t millins f students. Three astrnauts, Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu shwed hw they live and wrk n the space statin and did sme interesting experiments. This space lecture was greatly different frm the ne 8 years befre. The “classrm” was bigger. It was China’s first extraterrestrial (地球外的) lecture series.
Plants in space —The lab f the space statin has many cnditins that the Earth lab des nt have, such as the weightless envirnment. The imprtant jbs fr astrnauts included cell (細胞) bservatin and “feeding” plant life. In the lecture, Ye shwed experiments abut cell grwth in a weightless envirnment. As early as 2016, Chinese scientists tried t grw rice n the Tiangng II space lab t study hw plants grw withut an Earth-like envirnment.
Use it r lse it —The human bdy grws with the pull f Earth’s gravity (重力). But in space, ur bnes and muscles (肌肉) dn’t need t supprt ur bdy’s weight. This will cause bne and muscle lss. Astrnauts can lse up t 20 percent f their muscles after a cuple f weeks. That is dangerus fr astrnauts because they will be t weak t wrk.
Astrnauts have different ways t precent this. Zhai intrduced a special unifrm called “penguin suit”. Wearing it, astrnauts use their muscles t stretch the bands in it. This keeps their muscles strng. Wang als shwed students hw she walked n a machine, and rde a bicycle. Astrnauts exercise like that every day t prevent muscle lss.
Yung vices -Students were really interested in the lecture. A 13-year-ld by frm Tianjin said, “The mst exciting thing I learned is that astrnauts “fly” all the time because there is n gravity.”
Yin Peixin, an 11-year-ld girl frm Hubei said, “My favrite experiment is the ne with the table tennis ball. Wang put the ball int a glass f water, but the ball didn’t flat (漂浮). This was s magical!”
Lk! It was an eye-pening experience that wuld light up students’ interest in science, wasn’t it?
