Orbital structures are becming increasingly imprtant fr wrldwide cmmunicatins and a new generatin f technlgies. But scientists are warning that the danger f space debris (碎片) is rapidly increasing . Space debris can include pieces f ld rckets, nn-peratinal satellites, lst tls and ther parts. These pieces f wreckage present a risk t spaceships, satellites and space statins.
In an effrt t reduce the amunt f debris rbiting the Earth, sme experts suggest creating “rbital-use fees.” A grup f ecnmists at the University f Clrad at Bulder prpsed a yearly fee, r tax, n satellite peratrs fr their use f an rbital path. The grup’s study n the subject appeared recently in the publicatin Prceedings f the Natinal Academy f Sciences.
Matthew Burgess helped write the study. He said in a statement: “Space is a cmmn resurce, but cmpanies aren’t accunting fr the cst their satellites impse n ther peratrs when they decide whether r nt t launch. S we need a plicy that lets satellite peratrs directly factr in the csts their launches impse n ther peratrs.”
Akhil Ra was the lead writer f the study. He said mst prpsed answers t the prblem have been based n using technlgy t clear away the debris. Sme suggestins, fr example, call fr nets r ther devices that capture the space wreckage. But, Burgess said that remving debris nly means that peratrs will launch mre satellites. He said an internatinal treaty calling fr a yearly fee r tax wuld push cmpanies t be mre mindful abut launching mre bjects int space.
Christpher Newman is a prfessr f space law at Nrth Umbria University in Britain. He tld the Thmsn Reuters Fundatin that carrying ut a space tax culd be tricky. Newman nted that such a cst culd be seen as a restrictin n the free use f space. That freedm is guaranteed in the Outer Space Treaty f 1967.The United Natins dcument has been signed by mre than 100 natins. A human heart is s much mre than an rgan. N ne says they left their pancreas (胰腺) in San Francisc, fr example, r that tw kidneys (腎臟) beat as ne. Yet mst f us believe that tw hearts can beat as ne, and that the heart reveals ur real emtins. Nw there’s sme evidence that such flk wisdm is true.
When peple listen t the same stry—each alne in their wn hme—their heart rates rise and fall tgether, accrding t a new study published last mnth in Cell Reprts. Prfessr Lucas Perra, a senir authr f the study, said, “It’s the stry that drives the heart.”
This finding crrespnds with a muntain f research shwing that ur brains synchrnize (同步) when we interact in the same lcatin r participate in the same activity. The new study ges ne step further; it tests whether ur heart rates becme synchrnized while taking in the same narrative—even thugh we’re nt in the same rm nr even listening at the same time as ther listeners.
Marcel Prust wrte at the turn f the 20th century, “the heart des nt lie.”Data tells us much the same: The heart’s cnnect in t the brain is s tight that when we hear the same stry, ur heart rates synchrnize. Subjects in the same grup prduced synchrnized heart rate patterns that rse and fell at rughly the same times during the narrative.
The results are “heartwarming,” said Prf. Perra. “Heart rat crrelatin (關(guān)聯(lián)) between subjects des nt require them t actually be interacting, r even be in the same place. It’s nt the interactin between peple but the stry itself that des the trick.”
The pint, he said, is that when we listen t the same radi prgram r watch a Netflix shw, ur hearts beat tgether, shwing that “we’re nt alne.”

D.The same stry can make listeners have the same heart rates.

In the frest, trees ften give each ther space t reach fr the sky, a habit that humans can learn frm when it cmes t setting persnal bundaries.

Yu culd think f yur bundaries as a mat (護城河) arund yur castle, cmplete with a drawbridge that can be lwered r raised. As the gatekeeper f yur castle, yu decide wh and what cmes in and when.
