Just when we thught we had seen all the magical things that 3D printing can d, here cmes anther—a wrking artificial leg has transfrmed the life f a little Canadian duckling(小鴨) called Dudley, wh had been struggling t get by after lsing a leg.
The stry began n August 19th, 2013, when the newly-brn healthy Dudley and his brther were placed inside a chicken cp(籠子) at the K9-1-1 Animal and Rescue Services in Sicamus, British Clumbia. Within a few hurs, an aggressive chicken attacked the tw, killing Dudley's brther and leaving him with a disability!
While Dudley culd swim with his single leg, he had a hard time walking n the firm grund. Determined t help him, Dug Nelsn, the wner f the shelter decided t cnsult Terence Lring, the funder f a design firm that amng ther things als ffers 3D printing designs.
Given that he had just launched 3 pillar designs, Terence smewhat hesitated t take n a duckling as his first client(客戶). But as sn as he saw brave little Dudley walking arund n ne leg, Terence knew he had t d smething. Using his bimedical engineering training, Terence spent the next few weeks creating a 3D template(模板), after he fund ut hw ducks' legs wrk in YuTube vides abut ducks.
