In this unit, students will learn hw t fcus n identifying their wn strengths and weaknesses. They will learn t analyze and discuss their interests and dreams and find ut what makes each ne f them unique. They will als learn t address things they want t imprve n and explre different ways f imprvement. Students will practice giving advice based n encuragement and evaluatin.
Ⅱ. Analysis f students’ backgrund:
The students are the eighth graders, and they are interested in stries, and have the ability f thinking mre deeply.
Ⅲ. Teaching bjectives:
1.Aims f the knwledge:
①Enable the students t handle the target wrds and phrases in the text.
②Enable the students t handle the basic reading skills.
2. Aims f the abilities:
①Enable the students t master the quickest way t knw abut a text with the help f skimming.
②Enable the students t imprve their reading speed with the help f scanning.
③Enable the students t better understand the writer’s writing purpse.
3. Aims f the emtin:
①T fster the students’ sense f lving and helping the peple arund them.
②T encurage the students t make imprvement.

Step 1: Warming-up:
Shw the students an e-mail frm my student, Tan Le. He has sme truble in studying English. The students and I will wrk tgether t find ut Tan Le’s prblem.
Step 2: Presentatin:
1. Shw them the new wrds and phrases by using sme sentences.
2. Train them t knw the meanings f the wrds and phrases frm the cntext, with the help f wrd-building and sme pictures.
3. Use the skimming way t read the text. Students can knw the main idea just by reading three parts: the title, the first paragraph, the last paragraph. And after skimming, let the students try t predict what the stry is abut.

4. Read the text fr the secnd time with the methd f scanning. The students just need t read the questins first and try t find ut the direct infrmatin related t these“W” “H” questins.

5. Read the text fr the third time with the methd f careful reading. It aims t let the students have a better understanding f the writer’s writing purpse.
6. Guide the students t translate a lng and difficult sentence little by little.
7. T check the students if they have fully understd the text by retelling wrk (put sme key wrds n the blackbard t help them).
8. Use a chart t help the students knw Peter better and mtivate them t perfrm better in their future life.
