I’ve been keeping an hnesty jurnal fr the past several mnths. The day I started the jurnal, my 6-year-ld daughter asked me if the cat really went t sleep last year, and if that actually meant that I had killed him. I sighed, wndering if I shuld wait t start this hnesty prject until she was grwn-up. But I braved it and tld her that I had made the chice fr him t die, because he was suffering and I wanted him t be at peace. She lst interest abut halfway thrugh my explanatin.
It struck me that the chice t lie r be hnest was ften a chice between tw equally undesirable things. Telling my daughter the truth did nt make me happier, but lying wuldn’t have either.
Over all, I fund that I struggled mre with the small instances f hnesty, rather than the big. S, when a client accidentally paid me twice fr a prject, there was n internal debate. It was $1,000, s bviusly, I ntified the client. But when the McDnald’s drive-thrugh cashier gave me an extra dllar in change and the line had been s lng and my kids were acting crazy in the back seat... it was a different stry. Even thugh I gave the dllar back, I almst didn’t, because an extra dllar was such a small thing and seemed smehw justified.
Even thugh hnesty felt like a struggle, I started t like hw it felt. When I was mre hnest, I tended t feel better abut my relatinships and myself. I like the saying, “Everybdy wants the truth, but nbdy wants t be hnest.” I didn’t always want t be hnest. But I wanted the truth, and this fcus n hnesty helped me feel that I was ding my part.
The bttm line is that fcusing n hnesty is a way t actively engage with the wrld, instead f passively cmplaining abut it. It might even make yu feel like yu have gld in yur brain.

Fr years, dctrs have given bld t patients wh need it t survive. These transfusins usually include giving red bld cells t patients.

The scientists have used stem cells (干細胞) frm a bld sample t grw billins f brand new red bld cells.
This culd be even better than a regular bld transfusin. Fr ne thing, they can be adjusted fr peple with different bld types. That’ll be extremely helpful fr peple with rare bld types. Als, a nrmal transfusin has red bld cells f all different ages, which means nly a small part f them are brand new. T test its safety researchers have given a cuple f teaspns f the bld t tw healthy peple, bth f whm seem t be ding just fine after the transfusins. In all, they’ll be tested n 10 peple, and cmpared t nrmal transfusins. The new prcess desn’t indicate that nrmal bld transfusins will disappear. Meanwhile, grwing red bld cells in a lab is extremely expensive. And a lt f wrk and testing still need t be dne. But if it’s successful, the prcess culd make life much easier fr patients wh ften need transfusins-even thse with rare bld types.

B. They’re cllected frm seriusly ill patients.
C. They’re specifically fr a single bld type.
D. They’ve never existed in any human bdies.
33. What is the disadvantage f nrmal bld transfusin?
A. Bld reserves are ften inadequate.
B. It ften takes the patient a lt f time.
C. Mst nrmal bld cells dn’t live lng.
D. It’s unfit fr thse with rare bld types.
34. What can be inferred abut the new prcess f red bld cells?
A. It will have a lng way t g.
B. It’ll replace nrmal transfusins.
C. It will separate rare bld types.
D. It’ll reduce bld research csts.
35. Which can be a suitable title fr the text?
A. Bld Transfusins Get Easier
B. Rare Bld Types Are Nt Rare
C. Rare Bld Cells Need Dnating
D. Scientists Test Lab-created Bld
