Thugh diet and exercise are recmmended as ways t imprve health, new UC Riverside research in mice is the first t examine the lng-lasting, cmbined effects f bth factrs when they are experienced early in life.

Mice started their diets immediately after weaning (斷奶), and cntinued with them fr three weeks until they reached adulthd. After an additinal eight weeks f “washut”, during which all mice were hused withut wheels and n a healthy diet, the researchers did a behaviral analysis and measured levels f several different hrmnes (激素).
One f thse they measured, leptin, is prduced by fat cells. It helps cntrl bdy weight by increasing energy cnsumptin and signaling that less fd is required. Early-life exercise increased adult leptin levels in adult mice, regardless f the diet they ate.
