Watching the flag-raising ceremony at Tian’anmen Square, visiting the Palace Museum, walking in old Hutongs…You may think this is a typical week-long journey to Beijing. In fact, some people “punch in” all these places just within 48 hours. They are not common travelers, but “tourist special troops(旅游特種兵)”.
The Global Times found that some young people, especially college students, spend the night at 24-hour restaurants like McDonalds’ and Haidilao hotpot rather than booking a hotel room to save money. Some also use night time to transport and the day time for walking around. They even manage to catch their classes the day after finishing the trip.
Ruotong, a junior year student, has just spent such a “crazy” weekend with her friends. She told the Global Times, “Last time I felt so tired was after the military training(軍訓(xùn)). It was crazy but of much fun. Because of COVID-19, I have missed many travels in the past two years.”
In some people’s eyes, such a travel style is too hurry to really experience a city. But for “tourist special troops”, it is time-saving as well as economical. Wei Xuanyu, a fresher of Wuhan University, punched in nearly all of the main spots of the city during one weekend break. “I may not have a long time to travel around, but at least I can enjoy a full trip on weekends. I spend time checking the places and reading others’ travel notes to make the best travel plan for myself. My body could be tired, but the joy of seeing fresh things beats the tiredness. What’s more, it helps save money,” explained Wei excitedly.
19.How do the “tourist special troops” travel?
A.By taking many short trips with a break.
B.By traveling around a city with no hurry.
C.By visiting several places in a short time.
20.Who will join in the “tourist special troops” most?
A.Local people. B.College students. C.Special armies.
21.What does the underlined word “economical” probably mean?
A.經(jīng)濟(jì)實(shí)惠的 B.記憶深刻的 C.身心俱疲的
22.What can be inferred(推斷)from the passage?
A.Big cities are always the favourite for tourist special troops.
B.The “tourist special troops” travel style is popular in China.
C.Tourist special troops would spend much time making travel plans.
23.What’s the best title of the passage?
A.New Travel Style Draws Attention
B.Travel the World to Find Yourself
C.Tourism Welcomes Fast Development

Have you seen new plants starting to grow? Have you noticed that the days are getting longer? 24 It tells us that no matter how dark or cold things might be, better days are on the way.
What is hope? Bernadette Russell, who wrote the book How to be Hopeful, says, “Hope, on one hand, is the knowledge that things can get better. 25 ”
Russell speaks of people who have got over very difficult moments, such as firefighters who deal with wildfires in Australia. They say, “ 26 ” What they say and what they do show us the importance of taking actions. “From winning the World War I to people traveling thousands of miles away to build a new home, there is a long history of taking actions with hope,” says Russell.
27 Scientists say that having hope in difficult moments can help you worry less, feel calmer and improve your feelings. And it can also help reduce pain.
How to be hopeful? Experiencing disappointment and feeling bad are part of life. If it’s possible to see hope in those moments, you should. If it isn’t, don’t worry. Try to keep eyes on good things instead of those bad moments. For example, you can’t change the fact that someone is bad to you. 28 Even in the most terrible situations, you can decide what you say and do to each other.
A.These are signs of spring.
B.Why is hope good for you?
C.It’s easier to say than to do.
D.And on the other, it is also about taking actions.
E.If we don’t fight it, there’s no chance of it stopping.
F.But you can do something kindly instead of making things worse.

More people in China, especially younger ones, are losing themselves in “digital pickles (電子榨菜)”. They refer to interesting, funny, or relaxing short videos, dramas or sitcoms that people watch while eating.
Between busy work schedules, many people have few chances to enjoy conversations with friends or family members at the dinner table. Instead, they find themselves eating alone. Then, they began to watch TV shows or short videos on their phone, computer, or television, which makes the 20- to 30-minute meal time more comfortable.
Many people even find that it’s impossible to enjoy a good meal without digital pickles. Popular choices include classic dramas and sitcoms like Empresses in the Palace and My Own Swordsman. Short videos are also welcomed. Most of them often have attractive titles like, “Watch the Oscar winning film The Shawshank Redemption in 5 minutes and what happened in the book Little Women? Let me tell you in this 3-minute video”.
As a result, many low-cost, independently-made videos have been created. However, people have different opinions about such videos. Some people question the value of such videos. They also point out that such videos spoil (糟蹋) good films and books. But others see nothing wrong with some harmless fun during a meal after a long day of work. “The true meaning of food is the happiness it brings. Just imagine a bowl of delicious hot tofu rice cake, my favourite fried chicken fingers, together with my digital pickles after a tiring workday—Life couldn’t get any better," shared a Weibo user.
More people in China are losing themselves in “digital pickles”. Why? With busy work schedules, they 29 talk with friends or family members at the dinner table. So they often eat alone. To make the meal time more 30 , they began to watch something interesting, funny, or relaxing while eating, including classic dramas and sitcoms, and short videos. Dongpo culture is an important part of traditional Chinese culture. It is the culture related to Su Shi, the well-known poet of the Northern Song Dynasty (960~1127). During his lifetime, Su Shi created about 130 great poems, which has become the common spiritual wealth of the Chinese people.
When Su Shi was punished to serve in Huangzhou, he tried to enjoy life in the countryside. He farmed a piece of land which he called “Dongpo”. This is why people call him so. It’s said that he invented Dongpo pork there.
Su also invented many other famous dishes along his footprints, like Dongpo pork hock (東坡肘子) in Hangzhou, roasted lamb scorpion (烤羊竭子) in Huizhou, and baked oysters (烤生蠔) in Danzhou. These foods, as part of Dongpo culture, are still popular today.
In order to spread Dongpo culture, kinds of activities have been held around the country. A survey of 2,000 young people aged 15-30 was done during the first Hainan Dongpo Cultural Tourism Festival this February. The survey result shows that excellent traditions represented by Dongpo culture have attracted more young people.
Peng Tong, a researcher of Dongpo culture, says he is very pleased to see more young people falling love with Dongpo culture. He adds, “More young people need to get strength from traditional Chinese culture.”
What Young People Say
Wang Wenxi, 21, took part in the first Hainan Dongpo Cultural Tourism Festival this February.
What I see in Su’s poems is his open-minded attitude (態(tài)度) toward life. There are many people who like Dongpo culture around me. We will organize more activities to promote it.
Xu Yue, a senior student of Sichuan University, took a cultural trip to Dongpo’s hometown this March.
Su’s poems and spirit, as the valuable treasure of China’s traditional culture, have had a great influence on Chinese people. Su’s spirit will be better spread in the future, and Dongpo culture will pass on more power to us.
Liu Tairan, 27, a director and music producer, attended several discussion salons with the theme of Dongpo culture.
I’m Su’s big fan. Dongpo culture gives me cultural confidence, and also provides inspiration and materials for my creativity. My favourite lines of Su are “So let us wish that man will live long as he can! Though miles apart, we’ll share the beauty she displays.”

55.One possible version:
What will you choose after finishing junior high school, a normal high school or a vocational school? A survey was made among 500 students of Grade 9 in our school. It shows that half of the students choose to go to a normal high school while the other half prefer going to a vocational school. People who choose a normal high school think they can get all-around knowledge, and people who choose a vocational school want to get more practical skills. As for me, I decide to go to a vocational school.
When I was a little kid, I enjoyed making clothes for Barbie dolls. Later, in my spare time, I developed the habit of drawing new styles of clothes on the paper, which was very interesting. So I’m thinking about learning professional knowledge on designing.
In order to realize my dream, I must make great efforts from now on. First, I will work very hard to practice basic skills every day, such as designing and painting. Then, I plan to take part in some professional skill competitions. Many people may think it’s not a good idea to choose a vocational school. However, I believe anyone can be successful through hard work.
