If you get into the forest with your friends, stay with them always. If you don’t, you may get lost. If you really get lost, this is what you should do. Sit down and stay where you are. Don’t try to find your friends—let them find you by staying in one place.
There is another way to help your friends or other nearby people to find you. Give them a signal (信號(hào)) by shouting or whistling (吹口哨) three times. Any signal given three times is a call for help.
Keep up shouting or whistling always three times together. When people hear you, they will know that you are not just making noise for fun. They will let you know that they have heard your signal. They give you two shouts, two whistles, or two gun-shots (槍聲). When someone gives you a signal, it is an answer to a call for help.
If you don’t think that you will get help before night comes, try to make a little house---cover up to the holes with branches (樹(shù)枝) with lots of leaves. Make yourself a soft bed with leaves and grass.
What should you do if you get hungry or need drinking water? You would have to leave your little house to look for a river. Don’t just walk away. Pick off small branches and drop them as you walk so that you can find your way back. The most important thing to do when you are lost is—stay in one place.

Two inventors took a completely new method. They designed a special textile(紡織品)that could take in body heat and then send out the energy. This new textile cools both the objects and things around them through a technology. This means that a T-shirt made of this textile looks like a normal T-shirt, but actually it is a device(設(shè)備)that works like a mirror.
Although the technology is not new and has been used for years to design plastic films and special paints, its use in the textile industry for the good of wearers is very special and exciting. That is because, in the past, the methods we used to deal with heat through clothes were only the suggestions on wearing light colors and choosing breathable textiles. But even when these suggestions can actually help you feel cool, they are simply not enough in the hottest season. The new textile, however, can reflect all kinds of light and this can contribute to the cooling process. So this discovery is a real advance.
Right now, researchers still need to test the new method to know how effectively(有效地)the new textile works while the wearers are standing or walking, and not directly facing the sky. They also need to text how well it works when T-shirt are not close to the skin. But it’s still a great success.
The two inventors are now looking out for clothing brands that are interested in using their textile. One inventor said,“The new material will increase clothing producing costs by just 10 percent. We can make it with large production. Everybody can afford a T-shirt made of this textile and the cost is basically the same as a normal T-shirt’s. It can do good to everybody.”
( )52.What can the new textile do?
A. Make wearers feel cool. B. Make wearers fashionable.
C. Get wearers’ health information. D. Test wearers’ body temperatures.
( )53.What do the underlined words “contribute to” mean in Chinese?
A.減緩 B.促進(jìn) C.接收 D.擾亂
( )54.What are the two inventors doing now?
A. Making money by selling the textile.
B. Trying to use the textile in other fields.

D. Looking for clothing brands to use the textile.

Courage is often thought to be one of the most important spirits everyone needs. Then what is courage? 56 One isn't necessarily born with courage, one is born with potential(潛力). Kids build courage as they are growing up.
Many people talk about connections between courage and fear. 57 If there is no fear, there is no need for courage. That is to say, courage is the ability to do what makes you feel afraid. Courage doesn't only mean great actions such as saving one's life or taking a big risk. 58 For example, we show courage when we raise our hand to answer a hard question during class or try a new sport.
Courage is in everyday choices we make. Can you be kind to the new kid in class? 59
Or can you stand up for someone in need? 0ften, these things don't come with praise, but they need courage.
60 When we become brave enough to face failure, we'll be more willing to try new things and try again after we fail, Courage doesn't always shout. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, “I'll try again tomorrow."
A.You should learn to speak in public
B . It is the ability to do something difficult
C. Courage always stands side by side with fear.
D . Can you listen to the new person in your group?
E . Learning to fail is another important part of courage
F. Courage also means the smaller actions of our everyday lives.

Listening in class is a skill, which means you're going to have to practice it. Just as you would have to practice basketball to be a better player, you also have to practice listening. How to listen in class? Here are some suggestions.
One of the things you’ll need to do is to make sure that your mind doesn’t wander(神游). It’s easy to start thinking about other things, especially when you're not interested in the subject. So make yourself pay attention to what the teacher is saying.
Next, listen to the main ideas. If you want to catch every little piece of information, you'll be exhausted. It's too much work and it's impossible to do. You'll also need to look at the teacher. Not only does this show respect to the teacher, it also helps prevent your mind from wandering. There are too many distractions(使人分心的事) when you have class. It might be a friend who is trying to pass you a note. Or it could just be someone talking to his neighbor. It can even be some birds outside the classroom window. Or a group of kids who are talking loudly as they pass the door of your classroom.
At last, you need to take notes because you will not remember every thing the teacher says in class. So you’ll have to have a notebook to write down the key points so that you can study them later. Taking notes also makes you focus on listening.
Listening isn’t always easy, but if you follow these simple steps, you'll be much more successful in your classes.
( ) 49. Listening in class is just like playing basketball, you must ________.
A. Learn about it B. practice it C. be good at it D. like it
( ) 50. The underlined word “exhausted” in the passage means ________.

B. We should take the suggestions and practice our listening in class.
C. We had better look at the teacher because it shows respect to others.
D. We should take down whatever the teacher says in class.

C
Knowing about yourself means not only that you find out what you're good at and what you like, it also means discovering what you're not good at and what you don't like. Both help you to see your aim (目標(biāo)) in life.
Although most students would be unhappy if they found that they had failed a very difficult physics course, they have in fact learned a lot about themselves. They know that they should not become engineers or physical scientists. So failing can help a student to live a much happier life if he or she draws something out of the failing. They may then decide on their aim and choose the kind of work they would be fit for and they would like to do.
It is impossible to decide whether or not you like something until you have tried it. If you decide that you would like to play the piano, you need to take more than one lesson before you can know whether you are really interested in it or you are able to do well.
It is not enough to want to be a great pianist. You also have to like the hard practice and long training before you become one. If you would enjoy being a great pianist but hate the work, forget it.
It's a good plan to try as many ideas as possible when you are still young. And then you will be able to find out what your true interests (興趣) are.
( )52. If you say you really know yourself, _________.
A. you know what you are good at.
B. you have got the whole picture of yourself.
C. you keep in mind your aim in life.

C. if your decision is right
D. if you learn something from it
( )54. The example of "playing the piano” paragraph 3 and 4 implies that ________.
A. if you don't like music, don't practice the violin
B. it takes more than one lesson to learn to play the violin

D. you can become a great violinist only after hard and long training
( )55. Which of the following is NOT true according to the passage?
