【答案】18. C 19. C 20. C
【解析】
【原文】I’ve been sharing flats in the past four years. I had to admit my first experience was a disaster. My first roommate seemed really nice, but I changed my mind about her a few days after I moved in. One day I came home and threw my books and jacket onto the sofa. She shouted at me, “I hope you’re not going to leave those there!” It was then that I realized we could never get along, as I’m definitely not the world’s tidiest person. So I moved out soon. Then I shared a big house with three other foreign girls. It was great because the house was always full of young people and we had lots of parties. But it was almost impossible to do any work because the house was so noisy. The biggest arguments we had were always the day when the electricity bill arrived!
After a year the foreign girls went home, and I decided to share a flat with a good friend. We’ve been getting on really well. It’s great to have someone else help pay the rent and share dinner with you when you’re too exhausted to cook. And best of all, when you have a bad day you know there’s always someone to talk to.

Derek and Shirley walked out of the airport building and into the bright sunshine. Looking up at the brilliant blue sky and then at the faraway mountains rising above the swaying palm trees, they couldn’t wait to start their holiday.
A taxi pulled up swiftly and silently. Derek dropped their suitcases into the boot and joined Shirley in the back seat. “Palm Trees Hotel, please,” Derek said excitedly. “Certainly, sir,” replied the driver, as he turned around with a flashing white smile. Derek and Shirley gave each other a puzzled look as the taxi eased smoothly into the traffic. “Excuse me, er, your face seems very familiar-in fact, you remind us of that famous film star, Rocky Overton... but of course, you can’t be.”
Derek and Shirley sat in silent disbelief as the driver explained that he was not a real person, but a robot made to look like a famous actor. A broken heart. A sad ending to a love affair. That’s something most of us have experienced, or probably will. After all, it’s part of human life; needed, at least one time, to become more fully adult. But no question, the experience can be painful, even destructive.
But research shows there are pathways through the heartache. Listening to sad music is a major one. It can help you begin to feel joy and hopefulness about your life again. It can activate empathy(同理心) and the desire to connect with others — both roads through the prison of heartache and despair.
Sad music can help heal and uplift you from your broken heart.
A recent study from Germany found the emotional impact of listening to sad music is an arousal of feelings of empathy, compassion(同情), and a desire for positive connection with others. That, itself, is psychologically healing. It draws you away from the prison with yourself, and possibly towards helping others in need of comfort.
Another experiment, from the University of Kent, found that when people were experiencing sadness, listening to music that was “beautiful but sad” enhanced their mood. In fact, it did so when the person first consciously embraced their awareness of the situation causing their sadness, and then began listening to the sad music. That is, when they intended that the sad music might help, they found that it did.
These findings link with other studies that show embracing your sad situation emotionally — accepting reality as it is — activates healing and growth beyond it. In short, acknowledging your full experience arouses hope — another seeming paradox. For example, research from Cornell University, described here and published in Psychological Science, found that embracing discomfort about a life experience or new situation, and viewing it as a step towards growth and change, create motivation to find a pathway through it, beyond it. As Churchill famously said, “If you’re going through hell, keep going.” That discomfort points you towards creating a plan, a new action. It fuels hope.
28. Which is NOT the benefit of listening to sad music?
A. Making you full of sadness.
B. Activating your feelings of empathy.
C. Healing your broken heart.
D. Giving you a desire to connect with others
29. How does the author mainly develop this passage?
A. By giving examples.
B. By telling experiences.
C. By presenting research findings.
D. By quoting a famous saying.
30. Who are most likely to be helped by the “beautiful but sad” music?
A. People who have a broken heart.
B. People who are suffering great pain.
C. People who accept their sadness.
D. People who like beautiful music.
31. What could be the best title for the passage?
A. Listening to Music Brightening Your Life
B. Listening to Sad Music Healing Your Broken Heart
C. The Power and Beauty of Sad Music
D. A Study on Listening to Sad Music
【答案】28. A 29. C 30. C 31. B

細(xì)節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)第三段“Sad music can help heal and uplift you from your broken heart.(悲傷的音樂可以幫助你從破碎的心靈中治愈和振作起來)”及第四段中“A recent study from Germany found the emotional impact of listening to sad music is an arousal of feelings of empathy, compassion (同情), and a desire for positive connection with others.(德國最近的一項(xiàng)研究發(fā)現(xiàn),聽悲傷的音樂對情緒的影響是激發(fā)同理心、同情心,以及與他人建立積極聯(lián)系的愿望)”可知,悲傷的音樂可以激發(fā)同理心、治愈受傷的心靈且讓人渴望與他人聯(lián)系,A項(xiàng)“讓你充滿悲傷”不是其好處。故選A。
【29題詳解】

【31題詳解】
主旨大意題。根據(jù)全文內(nèi)容,結(jié)合第三段“Sad music can help heal and uplift you from your broken heart.(悲傷的音樂可以幫助你從破碎的心靈中治愈和振作起來)”可知,本文主要講述了研究表明,悲傷的音樂可以治愈受傷的心。故選B。

Yang Le Ge Yang, which roughly translates to “Sheep A Sheep” is a new game available on WeChat’s mini program and has gained national popularity in the past few
This sheep-based passthrough mini-game was developed by a Chinese start-up, Beijing Jianyou Technology, which boasts that “no more than 0.1% of players can get through all levels” in the game’s introduction, with the second level being the most difficult to pass, according to eager players who have already taken the challenge. This has aroused the desire to win among many other young users, resulting in this Internet fever.
The game allows those who turn into a sheep to change their skin covers after a successful match, and its comic-like art design coupled with earworm background music has become another appeal to China’s Gen Z users.
The game creates a strong sense of belonging by categorizing players based on the provinces they are from, motivate individuals to win and bring honor to their regions. In addition, game tools are another traffic driver as users are encouraged to share the game on social media in exchange for desired tools to aid their play, which has furthered its digital reach.
Although the game is free to play, game equipment plays a crucial role in bringing profit for the developer through its close ties to advertising. Users also have to watch in-app advertisements to win more powerful tools to get rid of obstacles in the matching process.
“The popularity of Sheep A Sheep indicates a consumer appetite for Hard Fun, (difficult to win) style content in China,” said Liao Xuhua, cultural consumption analyst at the industry research institute Analysis.
However, concerns have also arisen around the sustainability of this hyped(炒作的) game, due mainly to its low bar entry and low development cost. This allows copycats to soon follow, which has been proven by many similar mini-games.
32. What do we know about the users of the game Sheep A Sheep?
A. They are unlikely to get through all levels.
B. They can change their skin covers at any time.
C. They are deeply attracted by the background music.
D. They will design their own comic-like art in the game.
33. How does the developer of the game make profit according to the article?
A. By charging the users for playing the game.
B. By adding advertisements to the game.
C. By selling more powerful tools to the users.
D. By calling for more people to participate in the game.
34. What conclusion can we draw from the last but one paragraph?
A. Sheep A Sheep spoils the appetite of consumers.
B. The harder the game, the more fun it is.
C. The desire to win results in the popularity of the game.
D. Consumers become addicted to the game due to its style.
35. Which word can best describe the future of the game?
A. Promising. B. Definite. C. Hopeless. D. Uncertain.
【答案】32. A 33. B 34. C 35. D

How the 2022 World Cup Works
The World Cup is nearly here. The schedule is complete. The leagues have stopped. The players have arrived. Yet even as the teams know where they are meant to be and who they are meant to play, there are still plenty of questions about how things will unfold as soccer moves center stage over the month in Qatar. ____36____
Where is it being held?
This year’s host is Qatar, which in 2010 beat the United States and Japan to win the right to hold the tournament. Whether that was an honest competition remains in dispute. ____37____ The World Cup has never been held on the Arabian Peninsula before.
When is it?
The tournament will open on Nov.20, when Qatar plays Ecuador. That counts as a slow day; over the two weeks that follow, four games will be played on most days. ____38____ when the winner gets a very heavy (and surprisingly small) gold trophy.
____39____
No. The World Cup usually takes place in July or it did, until Qatar won the right to host it. Considering the fact that its temperatures can reach 120 degrees (48.8℃), FIFA, soccer’s world governing body, agreed to move the tournament to the relatively bearable months of November and December.
Qatar is so small. How can it accommodate all these matches?
____40____ At 4,416 square miles, it is 0.12 percent of the size of the United States and by far the smallest nation ever to host the World Cup. All the games will take place in a tight circle of eight stadiums in and around the capital, Doha, making it the smallest-sized World Cup in history.
A. That is unusual.
B. Here’s a primer (入門指南).
C. It is true that Qatar is tiny.
D. Why is it being held in winter?
E. Is a winter World Cup normal?
F. The tournament ends with the final on Dec.18,
G. It can accommodate 31 teams and an audience of 60,000.

Anybody passing by the school’s football grounds wouldn’t miss noticing Jake Harvey and his teammates talking about soccer. They always made sure they only selected skilled players to join their team. One day, Jake was talking with his friends about choosing a new goalkeeper as the previous one had moved to another city with his parents. At that moment, a newcomer in their class Sam Thompson, walked over with a big smile on his face, saying he was ready to play. Jake’s team paused and turned in disbelief, staring at the boy’s artificial leg.
“We only need the best of the best... you get what I mean?” Jake said.
Sam’s smile faded away (逐漸消失) while his eyes filled with tears, but he didn’t want his tears to weaken him in front of the boys. “It’s your team, and you know who fits... I respect your decision.” Sam turned around and left, wiping away his tears.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jones, the school, s physical trainer, saw what happened from his office window.
After the practice session, he walked over to Jake and took him aside. “Well, I saw what happened, and if I’m not wrong, you sent away that newcomer, right?” Mr. Jones asked Jake. “Do you have any idea who he is?” Jake was shocked as Mr. Jones revealed Sam’s background.
As it turned out, Sam was captain of the soccer team in his previous school. He was also an excellent goalkeeper who had won several gold medals for his team. Unfortunately, one day, Sam’s family met with a car accident on their way home from a vacation. The car was set ablaze (著火), and though Sam got out safely, he realized his little sister was still in the car. He risked his own life and rushed to save her. As a result, his left leg was severely injured and had to be cut off later. Jack was shocked by Sam’s bravery.

Moved by what Sam had done, they soon reached an agreement. When learning their decision, Mr. Jones spoke highly of them and promised he would keep it a secret to give Sam a big surprise.
The next morning, Jake came into the class and made an announcement. He walked over to the front with a big smile. “Meet our new goalkeeper, Sam Thompson!” Jake announced. The class cheered loudly when hearing the news. Jake came up to Sam and said, “Welcome, you’re our new goalkeeper!” Sam could hardly believe his ears and he just cried and laughed, saying “Thank you, Jake.” Jake hugged the boy while the team gathered in front of the class for a group hug.
