Club meetings are going to start next week. 俱樂(lè)部會(huì)議將在下周開(kāi)始。(1) meeting是可數(shù)名詞，意為“會(huì)議，聚會(huì)”。常用短語(yǔ)：hold/have a meeting“開(kāi)會(huì)”；sports meeting“運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)”。(2)【辨析】 start與begin二者都意為“開(kāi)始”，一般情況下可以互換使用，且后面都跟名詞、代詞、不定式或動(dòng)名詞。The sports meeting starts/begins at 8 o’clock.運(yùn)動(dòng)會(huì)八點(diǎn)鐘開(kāi)始。I started/began to play the piano at the age of five.我5歲時(shí)開(kāi)始彈鋼琴。6. Acting is fun and useful. 表演既有趣又有用。(1) acting 在此句中作主語(yǔ)。當(dāng)單個(gè)動(dòng)名詞 (短語(yǔ)) 作主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要用單數(shù)形式；但是如果多個(gè)動(dòng)名詞(短語(yǔ))并列作主語(yǔ)，則表示復(fù)數(shù)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞要用復(fù)數(shù)形式。Seeing is believing. 眼見(jiàn)為實(shí)。Reading books is really helpful for students. 對(duì)于學(xué)生來(lái)說(shuō)，讀書(shū)很有用。 (2) useful形容詞，意為“有用的”。該詞是由use 加形容詞后綴-ful構(gòu)成的形容詞，其反義詞為 useless（無(wú)用的）。This dictionary is very useful. 這本詞典非常有用。It can be useful to write a short summary after a lesson. 一節(jié)課結(jié)束后，寫(xiě)一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)短的總結(jié)很有用。Don’t just sit watching TV! You can stay in shape and have a good time.你可以保持體形并且玩得高興。stay in shape保持體形。其中shape是名詞，意為“樣子，形狀”。She eats little to stay in shape.她吃得很少以保持體形。9. Join us today or stop by the pool to learn more.今天加入我們或者在游泳池旁停留一會(huì)兒來(lái)了解更多情況。 stop by 停在……旁邊，也可譯為“順便拜訪”，相當(dāng)于drop in at，其后接地點(diǎn)名詞。I can stop by the shop to buy some fruit for you.我可以順便去商店為你買些水果。Step 8　Homework1.
