香港觀鳥會成立于1957年，是唯一一個旨在欣賞及保育香港鳥類及其自然生態(tài)的本地民間組織。2002年，香港觀鳥會更被認(rèn)可成為一個公共性質(zhì)的慈善機(jī)構(gòu)。目前香港觀鳥會有十一位全職工作人員，而觀鳥會的義工在帶領(lǐng)觀鳥活動、圖書管理及郵寄刊物等方面給予重要的支持。另外，會員人數(shù)正不斷增加中，目前已有超過1,900位本地及海外會員。
除了定期出版會訊和《香港鳥類年報》外，香港觀鳥會還舉辦野外觀鳥活動及室內(nèi)講座。過去曾協(xié)助修建米埔浮橋新觀鳥亭、更新《香港鳥類名錄》以及于1999年設(shè)立 “香港觀鳥會香港中國自然保育基金”， 支持國內(nèi)觀鳥者及鳥類學(xué)專家進(jìn)行觀鳥推廣或鳥類研究的工作。為了推動香港市民賞鳥愛鳥，香港觀鳥會多年來與超過二十多個團(tuán)體舉辦活動和定期舉辦不同程度的觀鳥班。除此之外, 該會還進(jìn)行鳥類調(diào)查及研究、管理重要鳥類生境、協(xié)助成立及發(fā)展內(nèi)地觀鳥會等。

If we want t learn mre abut hw t identify birds, their behavir and their life histries, r if we want t talk t thers with similar interests, then we culd jin the sciety. Birdwatching Sciety als supprts natinal and lcal rganizatins t prtect birds and cnserve bird habitats.
