On paper, hydrgen lks like a dream fuel. In practice, things are trickier. String meaningful quantities f hydrgen gas requires cmpressing (壓縮) it several hundred times. Transfrming it int liquid state is anther ptin, but ne that requires cling the stuff t -253℃. Either prcess requires rugged tanks. Over time, hydrgen gas can pass slwly int metals, weakening them and ptentially causing cracks. Tanks must be built frm special materials designed t resist this breakdwn.
Researchers at the Fraunhfer Institute led by Marcus Vgt, think that supplying hydrgen as gp (糊狀) ffers a way arund sme f its limitatins. They have been experimenting with a chemical cmpund that can be pumped int a cntainer and then persuaded t give ff its hydrgen n demand.
Their inventin, which they nickname “pwerpaste”, lks like tthpaste. Its main ingredient is magnesium hydride, a cmpund that when intrduced t water, reacts with it t frm hydrgen and magnesium hydrxide. The escaped hydrgen can then be redirected int a fuel cell, where it reacts with xygen frm the air t generate electric pwer. The magnesium hydrxide waste is emptied frm the reactr autmatically.
Dr Vgt’s scheme ffers several advantages ver batteries, petrl and mre cnventinal ways f handling hydrgen. One is the strage f energy than either batteries r petrl can manage. A secnd is ease f refilling, which is simply a matter f swapping an empty cntainer f paste fr a full ne, and tpping up the water, which is stred in a separate tank. A third advantage is that, unlike a battery, the paste des nt gradually lse its stred energy if it is left n the shelf. Mrever, the paste itself is harmless, as are the reactin’s by-prducts.
But there are still mre t wrk thrugh. Magnesium hydride reacts nly slwly with water. T vercme this, Dr Vgt and his team have fund a chemical additive that greatly accelerates the reactin. They have als fund a way t ensure that the reactin can be cntrlled precisely enugh t supply nly as much hydrgen as is needed at any given mment.

30.Hw is paragraph 4 mainly develped?
A.By prviding examples.B.By drawing cmparisns.
C.By quting sayings.D.By explaining a cncept.
31.What can be a suitable title fr the text?
