Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890), perhaps the most famous artist in the world, is perceived by many as the “mad” artist. His artistic genius is often overshadowed by those who see his paintings as only visual expressions of his troubled mind. While in part this may be true, in reality his innovative and unique artistic style was of enormous importance to a host of artists who followed in his wake. Even when openly influenced by his predecessors or contemporaries (前輩或同輩), his art remained identifiably his own, developing a distinctive style that failed to be accepted by the art-buying public in his own time. The career of Vincent van Gogh as a painter was short, but his extraordinary boldness of his technique created masterpieces that exercise a profound influence on the art of the twentieth century.
Although the artist’s first formal job after leaving school was art-related, he did not actually begin painting until years later. At 16, Vincent van Gogh entered an apprenticeship (學(xué)徒身份) at his uncle’s branch of Goupil & Cie, a Paris-based art dealership. The position involved travel and certainly exposure to the contemporary art of his day, but van Gogh would move on to religious work and a bookseller before producing the first Van Gogh painting.
His earliest works, completed from 1881 through 1883, reflect a new-comer’s attention to detail as well as hints of the new genius that would fully emerge in his later paintings. Although his sketches and watercolor drawings may, at first glance, seem two-dimensional and amateurish, they are fascinating in terms of their testament to the van Gogh’s early studies in Realism.
Vincent van Gogh produced his first drawings while staying at his parents’ home in Etten, the Netherlands, schooled chiefly by books on artistic technique. The artist restricted his first drawings to a black and white palette (調(diào)色板), believing mastery of this discipline to be essential before attempting works in color.
1. Why do many people think of van Gogh as a mad artist according to paragraph 1?
A. Because his artistic style failed to be accepted by the public.
B. Because his art was openly influenced by others and lacked his own style.
C. Because his paintings proved to be untrue from the perspective of reality.
D. Because his painting were often seen as confusing expressions of his mind.
2. What does paragraph 2 mainly want to tell us?
A. Vincent van Gogh was rarely exposed to art before producing paintings.
B. Vincent van Gogh lived a miserable life before becoming a painter.
C. Vincent van Gogh experienced many different jobs before painting.
D. Vincent van Gogh was also successful in many other fields besides art.
3. What can we infer from the last two paragraphs of the text?
A. Vincent van Gogh had difficulty in distinguishing different colors.
B. Vincent van Gogh had great abilities in teaching and training himself.
C. People thought highly of Vincent van Gogh’s earliest works at first sight.
D. Vincent van Gogh preferred staying at home to going to school while drawing.
4. What is probably the author’s attitude towards Vincent van Gogh?
A. Appreciative. B. Suspicious.
C. Objective. D. Confused.
根據(jù)第一段第二句“Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890), perhaps the most famous artist in the world, is perceived by many as the “mad” artist. His artistic genius is often overshadowed by those who see his paintings as only visual expressions of his troubled mind.
根據(jù)第二段“Although the artist’s first formal job after leaving school was art-related, he did not actually begin painting until years later.
根據(jù)最后一段“...schooled chiefly by books on artistic technique. The artist restricted his first drawings to a black and white palette (調(diào)色板), believing mastery of this discipline to be essential before attempting works in color.(……
根據(jù)第一段中“While in part this may be true, in reality his innovative and unique artistic style was of enormous importance to a host of artists who followed in his wake. ... but his extraordinary boldness of his technique created masterpieces that exercise a profound influence on the art of the twentieth century. 故選A項(xiàng)。

(2022·重慶市育才中學(xué)模擬預(yù)測(cè))Some of us love to buy a little treat every now and then. Others? They can’t help but order something nearly every day of the week. However, there was a different kind of package about to arrive at this door as this woman’s birthday meant one thing: a wonderful cake.
Emily and Mac have been together for the last 19 years and have been married for 12. Although Emily admitted the pair have a strong relationship, she said that Mac hasn’t always been the best at buying gifts. Apparently, he doesn’t usually plan any surprises.
Mac soon realized there were more and more parcels turning up at their door, and there was only one person to blame: Emily. It looks as though her online spending habits had gotten out of control. Little did Emily know, but this was the start of a grand idea.
Emily came home to find a new package on her doorstep. Only this time, it wasn’t an Amazon box, but a birthday cake! Emily was completely fooled by the cake thanks to the realistic packaging tape and posting note, but soon realized the truth when she cut into the side.
In fact, Emily was so impressed with the creation that she wanted to meet the bakery behind the cake. That was none other than the Sweet Dreams Bakery of Dunn. Amazingly, the cake cost only $50, but the thought behind the design meant everything to Emily.
Sometimes, it can feel as though our partners are never listening to what we have to say. However, they occasionally notice things about us that even we didn’t realize. Emily’s online shopping might have seemed normal, but it was the start of the greatest cake design she’d seen.
5. What does Emily usually think of Mac?
A. He doesn’t really love his wife very much.
B. He doesn’t buy her any surprising gift.
C. He doesn’t want to spend much on her gifts.
D. He doesn’t like any shopping on line.
6. What is the new package like?
A. It is a traditional birthday cake.
B. It is a common online shopping package.
C. It is a cake looking like a normal package.
D. It is an expensive cake with a special taste.
7. How would Emily feel after she received the gift?
A. Ashamed. B. Regretful.
C. Disappointed. D. Amazed.
8. What can we learn from the story?
A. Thoughtfulness and creativity makes wonder.
B. A good wife makes a good husband.
C. Actions really speak louder than words.
D. Love is just a kind of madness.

由第四段“Emily came home to find a new package on her doorstep. Only this time, it wasn't an Amazon box, but a birthday cake! Emily was completely fooled by the cake thanks to the realistic packaging tape and posting note, but soon realized the truth when she cut into the side.(艾米麗回到家,發(fā)現(xiàn)她的門階上有一個(gè)新的包裹。只是這一次,它不是一個(gè)亞馬遜盒子,而是一個(gè)生日蛋糕! 多虧了逼真的包裝膠帶和郵寄紙條,艾米麗完全被蛋糕所迷惑,但當(dāng)她切開蛋糕的側(cè)面時(shí),很快就明白了真相。)”可知,新包裝看起來像普通包裝的蛋糕。故選C項(xiàng)。
7. 推理判斷題。由第二段后半部分“she said that Mac hasn’t always been the best at buying gifts. Apparently, he doesn’t usually plan any surprises.(但她說,麥克并不總是最擅長(zhǎng)買禮物。顯然,他通常不計(jì)劃任何驚喜。)”根據(jù)倒數(shù)第二段“In fact, Emily was so impressed with the creation that she wanted to meet the bakery behind the cake.”(事實(shí)上,艾米麗對(duì)這個(gè)創(chuàng)意印象深刻,她想見見蛋糕背后的面包店。)根據(jù)最后一段“However, they occasionally notice things about us that even we didn’t realize.”(然而,他們偶爾會(huì)注意到一些連我們都沒有意識(shí)到的事情)可知,Emily認(rèn)為Mac不會(huì)制造驚奇,由此可以推斷,這次收到的蛋糕讓她意想不到,所以她會(huì)感到驚喜。故選D項(xiàng)。
從整個(gè)故事以及最后一段“Sometimes, it can feel as though our partners are never listening to what we have to say. However, they occasionally notice things about us that even we didn't realize.(有時(shí),我們會(huì)覺得我們的伴侶好像從來沒有聽過我們說什么。然而,他們偶爾會(huì)注意到一些連我們都沒有意識(shí)到的事情)”可知,Mac在妻子生日送蛋糕是體貼,注意到妻子喜歡網(wǎng)購(gòu),所以這件禮物外形像網(wǎng)購(gòu)包裹,內(nèi)容卻是生日蛋糕,這可有創(chuàng)意了。故通過這個(gè)故事學(xué)到了體貼和創(chuàng)意制造出了驚喜。故選A項(xiàng)。

(2022·新疆·二模)Saltwater crocodiles are the largest reptile in the world and can eat large prey(獵物). They hide at the edge of the water, waiting for prey. Then, without warning, they lunge. They grab their prey in their powerful jaws and drag it under water. Saltwater crocodiles don’t often miss their target.
One day, David George found himself in a swamp. It was the home of saltwater crocodiles. David knew they were there because he could see their tracks.
David thought his only chance of survival was to climb a tree and tie himself to a branch. Two big saltwater crocodiles, however, waited under the tree. He would have to come down sometime!

(2022·天津市新華中學(xué)模擬預(yù)測(cè))When Katie Stagliano grew a 40-pound cabbage, she didn’t know that she was beginning to develop a dream as well. When the 10-year-old girl from Summerville, South Carolina realized how much cabbage was in her garden, she decided to donate it to needy families by working with Fields to Families, a nonprofit organization based in South Carolina that gives the hungry access to nutritious fruits and vegetables.

Through a generous donation from Fields to Families, Katie’s school is receiving seeds and volunteer help, and Katie will get the chance to work there with a master gardener as her teacher!
Katie also designed her very own “No Hungry Children” T-shirt, which is available for purchase online. A part of the proceeds from her T-shirt sales economically supports Katie’s efforts, as well as the work of Amazing Kids, a nonprofit organization that focuses on the dreams of kids like Katie.
“I think it is important to have something to strive for,” says Katie. “By planting a garden or just some seeds in a pot you can make a difference. My cabbage alone fed 275 people. If more kids did the same, we all could be helping to make a long-time dream of no hungry people possible.”

(2022·江西九江·二模)Growing up on a farm in northeastern Brazil, I was the first and only person in my family to graduate from high school and pursue higher education. My parents worked on a small farm inherited (繼承) from my grandparents. I helped out when I was not in school.
My parents always had a close relationship with nature, so they knew the exact time of year to plant or pick certain fruits. I learned from my parents about the large bees that frequented one of our fruit crops—mangangava, we called them. This was the main reason I became interested in biology.
In college, as a black student, from a rural community, I did not see myself in my professors, most of whom were white and spoke with a different accent. Even if I studied for several hours per day, I fell behind peers who came from private schools. The feeling of not belonging circled in my head. I sometimes thought about giving up.
But one day, when I was asked to give a presentation about bees, I didn’t mention their familiar name; instead I used formal terms when describing their adaptations for pollinating (授粉). I was afraid of being judged for expressing my personal knowledge in a science class. But one of the instructors pressed me to tell the class whether I’d seen the bees myself and what I called them and said tapping into my personal experiences would help me grasp the scientific concepts. No other professors had shown that kind of sensitivity. The instructor made it clear that he valued what I’d learned from my family and from my personal experiences on the farm and that I didn’t need to hide who I truly am.
I’m now a master’s student in education, working on a project that explores the connection between science and traditional knowledge. I don’t think I’d be here today if I hadn’t crossed paths with that instructor. We need more educators and scientists like him, who serves as a role model and knows that the best way to allow students to be themselves.
18. What does “them” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A. The fruits. B. My parents.
C. The large bees. D. The fruit crops.
19. Why did the author want to give up at first?
A. He was not attached to his professors. B. He had difficulty fitting in.
C. He was always looked down upon. D. He was busy studying everyday.
20. Why did the author use formal terms in his presentation?
A. To express his personal knowledge. B. To avoid being criticized by others.
C. To grasp the scientific concepts. D. To show who he truly is.
21. Which of the following words can best describe the instructor?
A. Indifferent and selfish. B. Knowledgeable and ambitious.
C. Courageous and generous. D. Professional and kind.

To the untrained eye, a pingpong ball is just a pingpong ball. To a Beverly Cleary fan, it’s two motorcycle helmets for mice.
Ever since I read Cleary’s series about Ralph, the motorcycle—riding mouse, I’ve never looked at a pingpong ball—or the world—the same way. Amazing to think that it’s been more than forty years since I checked out The Mouse and the Motorcycle from my school library in Northport, and yet that one particular image is as clear to me as ever.
And why shouldn’t it be? It’s perfect.
How I wanted a mouse of my own to ride a toy motorcycle around my house! Thanks to Cleary’s genius, a talking mouse friend seemed not only possible but probable.
While much of children’s literature attempted to explain the world from the point of view of a wise and gentle adult, Cleary created characters who saw the world as only children can. With great interest, I read every book that bore Beverly Cleary’s name. She seemed like a friend who understood me in ways I didn’t yet understand myself.
I’ve written eight children’s books and have always kept Beverly’s sense of wonder in mind. I don’t remember at exactly what age I decided I wanted to write books, but I know that by second or third grade, my teacher assigned a project that allowed us to focus on whatever we wanted. My best friend picked dolphins; I chose children’s authors, with a large chunk of my project being about who else? Beverly Cleary!
I told that story recently to a school group. One of the students said, “That’s fantastic! You’re your project on children’s authors and then you became one!”
“Yes,” I said. “And my best friend who did her project on dolphins—became a dolphin!”
“Really?” the students said in chorus.
And that perfectly sums up why I love writing for children: the belief that fantastic, magical things can happen. Best friends can become dolphins; mice can ride toy motorcycles and become our friends.
That’s what Beverly Cleary taught me. In the hands of a gifted storyteller, anything is possible... and so very funny.

(2022·遼寧·模擬預(yù)測(cè))I opened the freezer and put in the cake—a sheet cake with my son's name in red and black frosting—the colors of the University of UGA, where Laughlin, my youngest, would graduate in May.
But now there would be no graduation because of the pandemic (流行病). I had been looking forward to Laughlin's graduation. I'm a UGA graduate, too, but I didn't attend my graduation ceremony because I received an Army commission (任命) as an air defense officer.
“No graduation!” I said, a bit annoyed that my son, finishing coursework at home, didn't seem bothered. “I need to focus on my classes and get a job, Mom,” he said. But Laughlin didn't know what he was missing. Years later, I still regretted skipping my UGA ceremony. I'd been planning the celebrations for Laughlin since January.
Every day the pandemic worsened. Then, one day, Laughlin's diploma arrived in a black-and-red tube by mail. I pulled the cake out of the freezer and served it halfheartedly. Laughlin found a job and moved to Atlanta to live alone.
One fall evening, a student called from the UGA. “Did your son participate in the graduation ceremony last week?” the young man asked. “What ceremony?” I screamed. “The one at the stadium,” the student said. “To make up for the cancellation in spring.”
I dialed the office of the dean of student affairs. “Why wasn't I notified?” “Mrs. Smith, we sent an announcement to your son's school email,” said the woman who took my call.
I called up Laughlin. “Why didn't you call me?” I asked. “Mom, I did hear about the ceremony and I knew you'd make me go, so I didn't say anything. Why would I risk my family's life for a ceremony? You and Dad are in a vulnerable age group. No way would I do that.”
Laughlin's diploma rested beside the phone. I felt tears in my eyes.
25. Why did the author expect her son's graduation ceremony so much?
A. To show off her son's excellence.
B. To pay a visit to the university once more.
C. To deliver a speech at the graduation ceremony.
D. To make up for her own missing graduation ceremony.
26. What was the author concerned about?
A. Her son would miss a good job. B. Her son would regret in the future.
C. Her son would skip the classes. D. Her son would move to another city.
27. Which words can best describe Laughlin?
A. Humorous and honest. B. Energetic and courageous.
C. Independent and caring. D. Responsible and sensitive.
28. What can be inferred from the passage?
A. Mrs. Smith was moved by her son's words.
B. Mrs. Smith was excited to see Laughlin's diploma at first.
C. Mrs. Smith abandoned her graduation ceremony sadly.
D. Mrs. Smith gave up holding the graduation party.

(2022·陜西安康·二模)Getting mixed families together isn’t always an easy task and some children can be left feeling hurt or angry when their parents remarry. But one woman has made sure her new stepson knows exactly how much she appreciates him, by dedicating part of her wedding vows (誓言) to him.
Vanessa Lynch, 30, became stepmum to nine-year-old Henry when she tied the knot with Craig Lynch and after making her vows to her new husband, she turned her attention to the young boy. Her vows said, “Henry, I know I wasn’t there for your first steps or your first words, but I promise I will be there for many more of your firsts. I promise to love you as if you were my own and lastly I promise I will be the best wife for your dad and I promise to be the best stepmum I can be for you.”
And Vanessa insisted she wanted to dedicate some of her vows to Henry because she didn’t want him to see her as just a “woman his dad was married to”. She explained, “I’m glad I decided to do it because Henry told me that they meant a lot to him and that he feels even closer to me than before.”
Vanessa also had a stepdad growing up and chose to walk down the aisle with both her biological dad and her stepdad to show that family doesn’t just mean blood relatives. She said, “I come from a mixed family, so I wanted to show how stepparents should treat stepchildren as though they were their own children. You don’t share blood with someone, but it does not mean you cannot be a family. It all comes from love you hold for a person and what you commit to one another.”

(2022·甘肅隴南·模擬預(yù)測(cè))On January 9, 2022, it was another cold morning. Temperatures reached lows of 17. 6 °F (-8℃). Dusti Talavera, a housewife in the south suburbs of Denver, was washing dishes in her kitchen when she witnessed a frightening scene outside her kitchen window. Glancing out her kitchen window, she noticed a group of young children playing on an icy pond. Moments later, the children fell through the ice.
Dusti’s heart raced as she saw the children fall through the ice, and she immediately grabbed her shoes to run outside. After hearing the loud screams for help, the young girl’s 16-year-old cousin suddenly arrived on scene. He threw Dusti a rope, which she used to drag herself and the young girl out of the water.
All three children were pulled out of the icy water as first responders arrived on scene. (2022·安徽·模擬預(yù)測(cè))From her lifeguard station at the end of the pool, Jessica noticed clouds forming, the wind picking up and the sky darkening. The pool manager announced over the loudspeaker that the pool is closing immediately, asking everyone to head to the safety of home before the storm hit.
All the swimmers had left by 3 :30 except Jessica's neighbor, eight-year-old Zack. Zack's mother had planned to pick him up after work, but the storm was coming fast. Jessica decided to drop Zack off on her way home, She taped a note for Ms Hill on the door of the pool office and headed out.
The minute Jessica and Zack left the parking lot, it was clear that this was no ordinary storm. Jessica said, “Zack, I'm going to take you to my house. We need to get inside right away, and your house is farther away than mine." She pressed the garage-door opener, but nothing happened. The electricity was out. The front door was only a few feet away, but the wind was so strong that Jessica and Zack had to fight their way into the house. Jessica held Zack's hand firmly. The door was heavy with the pressure of the wind. Finally, it opened, but it was blown out of Jessica's hand and hit the side of the house. The window broke into pieces. Jessica picked up Zack and threw the two of them inside; her only thought was to get to a safe place.
Remembering everything she could from her emergency training, Jessica took Zack to the completely dark basement. Jessica held Zack's trembling hand tightly. Feeling their way with great caution, they sat down in a corner finally. Outside, the lightning flashed, the thunder roared, and the furious wind howled, which threatened to put the world to an end. Feeling overwhelmingly scared, little Zack burst into tears, saying, “I miss my mom." Jessica held him in her arms, saying, “Honey, don't be afraid! Everything will be all right.”

(2022·河南洛陽·二模)Song Lam, or Waiata to some of her New Zealand Maori friends, argues that Mandarin and Maori have much in common, particularly the five vowels(元音) which sound the same in both languages. And the mythological(神話) figure Maui of Maori legend has a Chinese “twin brother”, the Monkey King. Both could turn themselves into any shape or figure at any time.
Some academics claim that one of the native tribes in Taiwan, China speaks a language similar to Maori, notably in the naming of numbers. Evidence gleaned by archaeologists(考古學(xué)家) shows an ancient link between the peoples of Australasia and Taiwan, with the native language of Taiwan having similarities to the prehistoric Australasian language.
Confused by Maori place names and customs when she first moved to New Zealand, Song Lam spent eight years researching and three years writing her book, The Maori of New Zealand, which is believed to be the first Chinese-language publication to include Maori words, values and customs. The 120-page book, including 10 pages of photos and maps, descbribes Maori legends, traditions, history and folk tales.
Song Lam was inspired to write the book in 1990 when she tried to sign up for an education course in New Zealand and was asked for her comments on a local historical event, which she knew nothing about. She involved her two sons in her project and research after explaining to them the stories behind Maori place names. The younger boy, aged 10, used his skill at drawing to contribute an historic map of Maori tribes in New Zealand.
“Both Chinese and Maori like to present a gift when visiting others or receiving warm reception,” Lam says. “My book will be a good gift when I visit a Maori community.”
41. According to Song Lam, what do Mandarin and Maori have in common?
A. Fairy tales of the same character. B. Confusing place names and customs.
C. Similar pronunciation of vowels. D. The magic power of the Monkey King.
42. What does the underlined word “gleaned” in Paragraph 2 probably mean?
A. Controlled. B. Gathered.
C. Grown. D. Switched.
43. Why is Song Lam’s younger son mentioned in Paragraph 4?
A. To tell his curiosity about Maori.
B. To prove his unique talent in painting.
C. To stress the importance of education.
D. To show his help with the publication.
44. What is the best title for the text?
A. Cultures Share Language Bond

根據(jù)第一段的“Song Lam, or Waiata to some of her New Zealand Maori friends, argues that Mandarin and Maori have much in common, particularly the five vowels(元音) which sound the same in both languages.(Song Lam,她的一些新西蘭毛利朋友也叫她Waiata,認(rèn)為普通話和毛利語有很多共同之處,尤其是這五個(gè)元音在兩種語言中發(fā)音相同)”可知, Song Lam認(rèn)為新西蘭語和普通話的共同之處是元音的發(fā)音相似。故選C。
根據(jù)第二段的“Evidence gleaned by archaeologists(考古學(xué)家) shows an ancient link between the peoples of Australasia and Taiwan(考古學(xué)家gleaned的證據(jù)顯示了澳大拉西亞人和臺(tái)灣人之間的古老聯(lián)系)”并結(jié)合常識(shí)可知,證據(jù)是需要收集的。
根據(jù)第三段的“The 120-page book, including 10 pages of photos and maps, descbribes Maori legends, traditions, history and folk tales.” 再結(jié)合第四段“The younger boy, aged 10, used his skill at drawing to contribute an historic map of Maori tribes in New Zealand.(這名10歲的小男孩用自己的繪畫技巧繪制了新西蘭毛利部落的歷史地圖)”可知,小男孩繪制了新西蘭毛利部落的歷史地圖。
根據(jù)文章的主要內(nèi)容,尤其第一段“Song Lam, or Waiata to some of her New Zealand Maori friends, argues that Mandarin and Maori have much in common, particularly the five vowels(元音) which sound the same in both languages. And the mythological(神話) figure Maui of Maori legend has a Chinese “twin brother”, the Monkey King. Both could turn themselves into any shape or figure at any time.(Song Lam,她的一些新西蘭毛利朋友也叫她Waiata,認(rèn)為普通話和毛利語有很多共同之處,尤其是這五個(gè)元音在兩種語言中發(fā)音相同。而毛利傳說中的神話人物毛伊有一個(gè)中國(guó)的“孿生兄弟”——美猴王。兩者都能在任何時(shí)候變成任何形狀)”可知,文章通過Song Lam的故事講述中國(guó)和新西蘭毛利部落在語言和文化上有很多相似之處。故A項(xiàng)“文化共享語言紐帶”可以作為本文的最佳標(biāo)題。故選A。

(2022·內(nèi)蒙古赤峰·模擬預(yù)測(cè))When Hal Donaldson was 23, fresh out of college and found himself in India, where he was writing a book for a couple feeding hungry children. He was told that there was someone he had to interview. It was Mother Teresa. After their interview, Mother Teresa had a question for him, “What are you doing to help the poor?” He told her the truth that he wasn’t focused on helping others. With a smile on her face, Mother Teresa said, “Everyone can do something.”
Donaldson returned home from India with a changed perspective. He knew he needed to do something to help others. He packed up his car and hit the road. He travelled to eight cities in America and stayed on the streets for three nights in each of them. He spent that time talking with the people he came across and he listened to their stories. “My heart broke,” he says. “I knew I could no longer just live for myself.”
Encouraged by Mother Teresa’s words and the stories he’d heard across America, Donaldson loaded a pick-up truck with $ 300 worth of groceries. He drove around Northern California handing them out to anyone in need. As word got around about his efforts, his operation grew bigger. Donaldson created the nonprofit organization, Convoy of Hope at the age of 27.
Their work is aimed at feeding children, women’s empowerment and helping farmers. Nowadays, their work has been vital. Donaldson says, “We’d set a goal of delivering 10 million meals. We were really astonished by the response. Now, we’ve passed out 200 million meals.”
The response from people helped by Convoy of Hope is powerful. But what means to Donaldson most is the response from people who joined their operation, driven by their need to help others. “People said they didn’t know what to do, but then they heard about us,”he says. “We underestimate what we can accomplish. It can transform lives.”
45. How did Donaldson feel after interviewing Mother Teresa?
A. Interested.
B. Bored.
C. Amazed.
D. Inspired.
46. What does the underlined phrase “a changed perspective” in paragraph 2 refer to?
A. His attitude towards helping people.
B. His courage to create an organization.
C. His desire to live a healthy life.
D. His doubt about his action.
47. What is the purpose of Convoy of Hope?
A. To call for attention to equal rights.
B. To help the disadvantaged in society.
C. To praise those who help others.
D. To raise employment of all walks of life.
48. What does Donaldson value most according to the text?
A. People’s ability to help others.
B. People’s attitude towards their own life.
C. People’s response after joining the organization.
D. People’s efforts to deliver the meals to the needy.
根據(jù)第一段的“With a smile on her face, Mother Teresa said, “Everyone can do something.”(特蕾莎修女面帶微笑地說:“每個(gè)人都可以做一些事情。”)”
根據(jù)第一段的“Everyone can do something(每個(gè)人都能做點(diǎn)什么)”和第二段的“He knew he needed to do something to help others.(他知道他需要做點(diǎn)什么來幫助別人。)” His attitude towards helping people,故選A。
根據(jù)第四段的“Their work is aimed at feeding children, women’s empowerment and helping farmers.(他們的工作旨在為兒童提供食物、婦女賦權(quán)和幫助農(nóng)民。)”
根據(jù)最后一段的“But what means to Donaldson most is the response from people who joined their operation, driven by their need to help others.(但對(duì)唐納森來說,最重要的是那些出于幫助他人的需要而加入他們的人的反應(yīng)。)”

Wang Fang, a Suzhou native, has given her heart and soul to Kunqu Opera. Wang, who has twice won the Plum Performance Award—China’s top award for theater and opera performances-started to learn the traditional art form in 1977.
Born with a melodic voice, Wang loved to sing and dance when she was little. She performed frequently, and was recruited by the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe (劇團(tuán)) when she was in middle school. However, her parents refused the troupe’s invitation, insisting that she should concentrate on her studies and not drop out of school. After members of the troupe visited the parents repeatedly and showed great sincerity,Wang’s parents finally agreed.
Learning the traditional art form was never easy. She started to learn how to pronounce words, sing them lyrically and make gestures gently. As an actress playing martial artists roles at first, she had to spend extra time practicing kung fu movements. Years later, Wang used the word “unimaginable” to describe how hard the days were when she first learned Kunqu. She was soaked in sweat when practicing movements in summer, while in winter she often had chilblains (凍瘡) on her hands when training in shabby classrooms with broken windows. “But I was young and determined at the time. No matter how difficult, I always got up early the next morning to practice,” Wang recalls.
Wang says she did not love Kunqu at first, but in her early 20s,when she watched the show Peony Pavilion performed by Zhang Jiqing, a master of the art form, it clicked. “I was shocked,” Wang says. “Her every movement was full of elegance and delicacy. Each of her lines and songs was perfect. I was overwhelmed by the beauty of Kunqu for the first time in my life, and it has stayed with me since.” Now, Wang has herself become a master of Kunqu. Her performances have impressed generations and helped to promote the art form among young people.
49. Why did Wang’s parents turn down the troupe’s invitation at first?
A. They didn’t think Wang had artistic talent.
B. They saw no future in learning Kunqu Opera.
C. They didn’t want Wang to ignore her studies.
D. They regarded members of the troupe as insincere.
50. What does paragraph 3 mainly tell us?
A. Wang has made great efforts to learn Kunqu well.
B. Artists should be given more attention and care.
C. Traditional culture needs to be further promoted.
D. Wang has played a key role in the development of Kunqu.
51. What changed Wang’s attitude towards Kunqu Opera?
A. Winning the Plum Performance Award.
B. Joining the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe.
C. Watching Zhang’s masterly performance.
D. Being greatly admired by the audience.
52. What does Wang’s story show us?
A. It is never too late to learn. B. Rome was not built in a day.
C. Doing is better than saying. D. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
第二段“She performed frequently, and was recruited by the Suzhou Kunqu Opera Troupe (劇團(tuán)) when she was in middle school. However, her parents refused the troupe’s invitation, insisting that she should concentrate on her studies and not drop out of school.”(在中學(xué)時(shí),她經(jīng)常參加表演,并被蘇州昆曲劇團(tuán)錄取。
根據(jù)第三段開頭“Learning the traditional art form was never easy.”(學(xué)習(xí)傳統(tǒng)藝術(shù)從來都不容易。)以及該段倒數(shù)第三句“She was soaked in sweat when practicing movements in summer, while in winter she often had chilblains (凍瘡) on her hands when training in shabby classrooms with broken windows.”(在練習(xí)動(dòng)作時(shí),她夏天練到衣服濕透,冬天凍得手上常長(zhǎng)凍瘡。 故選A項(xiàng)。

(2022·山東濟(jì)南·模擬預(yù)測(cè))Whether it be a person, an animal, or even an insect, a mother's instincts (本能)are never wrong. This idea rings true for a mother cat who acted fast and sought out help when her kittens were in trouble. This mother cat's quick thinking may have just saved her babies.
In the urban district of Izmir in western Turkey, a cat walked into a regular hospital holding a kitten in her mouth. As the mother cat moved through the hospital, people were surprised to see such a sight, but let her pass. The mother cat asked for help, crying for a???long time. She was familiar to the hospital staff, who had been leaving her food and water outside, but they were unaware that she had given birth to kittens.
The mother cat was concerned for her young because they weren't able to open their eyes. After the doctors looked at the kittens, they noticed that they were suffering from eye infections. One of the doctors recalls, “We consulted with vets (獸醫(yī))and gave medicine as described. When the kittens opened their eyes a short time later, we were excited." Later, they were sent to an animal hospital for further care. The cats are now up for adoption and will hopefully find loving forever homes.
When it comes to mother cats and kittens, kittens completely depend on mothers for the first few months of their lives. Because they are blind and almost deaf until about two or three weeks old, the mother cat must protect them from any threat or danger. Without the mother cat's help, the kittens may not make it to adulthood.
As shown by the mother cat in Turkey, a mother's love and protection knows no bounds. Whether the mom is a human or a cat, mothers will always look out for their babies and make sure they are safe and healthy.

C. To get her babies treated.
D. To give birth to her babies.
58. How did the doctors help the baby cat?
A. They built them a home.
B. They adopted all of them.
C. They gave them right medicine.
D. They operated on them immediately.
59. What makes newly-born cats dependent on their mothers?

The captain of the ship, the Beagle, wanted someone who would “profit by the opportunity of visiting distant countries yet little known”. The person who answered the call was not the captain’s first choice. It was a young man who had left medical school without completing his degree. What’s more, he had recently received a letter from his father predicting that he would be “a disgrace to yourself and all your family”. Despite all this, his adventures on this ship would lead to one of the most important scientific discoveries of all time.
The young man in question, Charles Darwin, was a geologist and naturalist, fascinated by rocks, plants and animals. The journey gave him the chance to study various living things in their natural environments. After Darwin had spent some time in South America, his room on the ship was crowded with samples of the plants and animals he had collected. As he studied these, he asked himself the question: how did different species come to exist?
At that time, people believed that all species had appeared on Earth at the same time, and had not changed since. But Darwin began to think differently. He noticed that some species of animals were very similar to each other. Maybe animals evolved as they adapted to their changing environments. It was just an idea, but enough to inspire Darwin to look for more evidence.
When the Beagle reached the Galapagos Islands in 1835, Darwin saw a variety of new species, but it was the birds that interested him the most. Darwin noticed that there was a difference between the finches(雀科小鳥) on each of the islands. It seemed their beaks(鳥喙) had evolved according to what food was available on that particular island.
Darwin suspected the finches had evolved from a common ancestor, which had arrived on the islands a long time before. Over time, it had slowly evolved into many new species. And that was the answer to how new species of plants and animals came to exist: they evolved from earlier ancestors.
It was a completely new idea—a theory of evolution. Darwin explained this theory in his book, On the Origin of Species. Many people refused to believe that living things, including humans, had evolved from lower forms of life. But Darwin’s scientific studies were so convincing that more and more people started to believe his theory.
Today, On the Origin of Species has changed ideas about life on Earth forever. And it all began with the journey on the Beagle.
61. Why did the captain of the Beagle choose Darwin to sail together?
A. Because he appreciated Darwin’s talent and wanted to offer some help.
B. Because he had recently received a letter asking for help from Darwin’s father.
C. Because he hoped this valuable expedition would also benefit someone who needed it.
D. Because he thought Darwin’s adventures might lead to an important scientific discovery.
62. Which of the following is the correct order to describe Darwin’s exploration?
①Darwin suspected that the finches had evolved from a common ancestor.
②Darwin proposed a theory that living things had evolved from lower forms of life.
③Darwin wanted to know how different species came to exist.
④Darwin noticed there was a difference between the finches on the Galapagos Islands.
⑤Darwin studied various living things in their natural environments.
A. ⑤③④①② B. ⑤④①③② C. ③④①⑤② D. ③⑤②④①
63. What was people’s original attitude towards Darwin’s book, On the Origin of Species?
A. Supportive. B. Critical. C. Neutral. D. Suspicious.
64. Which of the following would be the main idea of this text?
A. Darwin’s interest in various living things made him a great naturalist.
B. Darwin’s journey on the Beagle inspired his Theory of Evolution.
C. Darwin went on a journey to confirm his scientific discovery.
D. Darwin’s discovery has changed ideas about life on Earth.

(2022·四川·涼山彝族自治州教育科學(xué)研究所二模)“Your password has expired,” a message said on my screen, with instructions for changing it. Coming up with a new code doesn’t seem like a big deal, unless you work at my company, where we have to change it monthly, using at least one uppercase character, one lowercase character, one symbol, and one number. Oh, the whole password can’t be fewer than eight characters. And I can’t use any of the same passwords I’ve used in the past three months.
Suddenly I was very angry. What didn’t make it any better was that I was deeply depressed after my recent divorce. Disbelief about what she had done to me was all I thought about. Every day.
I remembered a tip I’d heard from my former boss. He’d said: “I’m going to use a password to change my life.” I couldn’t focus on getting things done in my current mood. There were clear signs of what I needed to do to get control of my life again.
My password became the sign. My password reminded me that I shouldn’t let myself be a victim of my recent breakup and that I was strong enough to do something about it.
I made my password Forgive@h3r. I had to type this several times a day. The simple action changed the way I looked at my ex-wife. That constant reminder led me to accept the way things had happened and find a new way of dealing with my depression. As the month wore on, I felt a slow healing begin to happen. By the time my server asked me to reset my password the following month, I felt free.
One month later, my dear Exchange server asked me yet again to reset my password. I thought about the next thing that I had to get done. My password became Quit@smoking4ever. I quit smoking overnight. This password was a painful one to type during that month, but doing it helped me to yell at myself in my mind as I typed that statement. It motivated me to follow my monthly goal. One month later, my password became Save4trip@thailand. Guess where I went three months later: Thailand.
Seeing how these reminders helped to achieve my goals kept me motivated and excited. While it’s something difficult to come up with your next goal, keeping at it brings great results.

(2022·廣東·汕頭市聿懷中學(xué)模擬預(yù)測(cè))My beautiful new watch had run eighteen months without losing or gaining. But at last, one night, I forgot to wind it up and it stopped running. The next day I stepped into the jeweler’s to set it by the exact time, and the head of the shop started to set it for me. Then he said, “She is four minutes slow —— regulator wants pushing up.” I tried to stop him —— tried to make him understand that the watch kept perfect time. But no; he calmly and cruelly did the shameful deed.
My watch began to gain. It gained faster and faster day by day. Finally I took it to the watchmaker to be regulated. He forced the watch open, and then said it wanted cleaning and oiling, besides regulating. After this, my watch slowed down to an unbearable degree. I began to miss trains and my dinner.
At last, I took this instrument to another watchmaker. He said the kingbolt was broken. To tell the truth, I had no conception what the kingbolt was. He repaired it, but what the watch gained in one way it lost in another. It would run awhile and then stop awhile, and so on.
So I went with a heavy heart to one more watchmaker. While I waited and looked around I presently recognized in this watchmaker an old acquaintance —— a steamboat engineer of older days, and not a good engineer, either.
“She makes too much steam and …” he said.
I gave him a heavy blow on the head and ran away.
My uncle William used to say that a good watch was a good watch until the repairers got a chance to look at it. And he used to wonder what became of all the unsuccessful repairmen, and shoemakers, and engineers, and blacksmiths, and governors, and school-principals; but nobody could ever tell him.
69. What did the author say about the jeweler?
A. He made a mistake. B. He had a quick mind.
C. He had a hearing problem. D. He was a quiet repairman.
70. After being cleaned, oiled and regulated, how was the author’s watch?
A. It kept perfect time. B. It gained faster and faster.
C. It was not a little slow. D. It ran awhile and stopped awhile.
71. Why did the author hit the watchmaker on the head?
A. He was a liar. B. He was talking nonsense.
C. He treated the watch cruelly. D. He was an old enemy of the author.
72. What did the author learn from his experience?
A. Never get a watch repaired.
B. He should listen to his uncle.
C. Repair work was a complicated job.
D. Unsuccessful people exist in all walks of life.
根據(jù)第一段的“But no; he calmly and cruelly did the shameful deed.(但沒有;他心平氣和地做了這件可恥的事。)” 故選A。
根據(jù)第二段的“After this, my watch slowed down to an unbearable degree. I began to miss trains and my dinner.(從那以后,我的表慢得讓人受不了。我開始錯(cuò)過火車和晚餐。)”可知,在清洗、上油和調(diào)整后,作者的手表走得相當(dāng)慢。故選C。
71. 推理判斷題。根據(jù)倒數(shù)第四段的“While I waited and looked around I presently recognized in this watchmaker an old acquaintance —— a steamboat engineer of older days, and not a good engineer, either.(當(dāng)我等待和環(huán)顧四周的時(shí)候,我立刻認(rèn)出這位鐘表匠是我的一個(gè)老朋友——他是以前的一個(gè)輪船工程師,但也不是一個(gè)好工程師。)”和倒數(shù)第三段的““She makes too much steam and …” he said.(他說:“她身上的蒸汽太多了,而且……”)”
根據(jù)最后一段的“My uncle William used to say that a good watch was a good watch until the repairers got a chance to look at it.(我叔叔威廉過去常說,一塊好表在修理工有機(jī)會(huì)看一看之前還是一塊好表。)” 故選A。

Nowadays mail delivery is a little different. I still get my mail from my mailbox. Nothing, but my neighbors’ mail. I thought that was curious.
I proceeded to take my neighbors’ mail to them. I was about to put the mail in their mailbox when a tall man came running out shouting about messing with his friend's mail. He snatched (奪過) the mail from my hand, opened the mailbox and pointed to the mail inside.“You were after this.
I shook my head, “No, believe me. I got this mail by mistake in my box today. I was just bringing it to them.” He gave me a funny look and went back into his house.
I got the knock on the door the next morning by two very polite officers. The annoyed tall man had phoned the police and told them I was a crazy old woman going around mixing up everyone's mail. Before I could finish telling them about what was going on, the officers had watched a dog approach my mailbox with mail in his mouth. He took out the mail that was in my box and put letters in. He pushed the door closed with his nose, picked up the new pile of mail he had gotten from my box, and repeated this all the way down the next street. We all started laughing.
The dog had belonged to a mail carrier who had died. No one thought to check (the carrier lived alone) on the man’s dog. The dog had been trained to put mail in and take mail out of the boxes. When he got loose, he assumed his duties.
I went by to talk to the annoyed tall man to fill him in on what had happened. He was very pleased when he realized I was not a mail thief. He did, however, adopt the little guy.
73. Why did the tall man give the author a funny look?
A. To show his disbelief. B. To express his curiosity.
C. To contain his annoyance. D. To hide his embarrassment.
74. How did the police officers discover the truth?
A. By analyzing the case. B. By witnessing the mix-up.
C. By questioning the author. D. By consulting the tall man.
75. According to the story, the dog
A. was well-trained and devoted B. used to live a lonely and busy life
C. was assigned to replace the carrier D. guarded the mail in the neighborhood
76. What’s the best title for the story?
A. A mail service B. A dog’s tale
C. Special delivery D. Noble duties
根據(jù)第三段第一句“I shook my head, ‘No, believe me. I got this mail by mistake in my box today. I was just bringing it to them.’(我搖搖頭,‘不,相信我。我今天不小心在郵箱里收到了這封郵件。我只是把它帶給他們’)”,以及第四段第一、二句“I got the knock on the door the next morning by two very polite officers. The annoyed tall man had phoned the police and told them I was a crazy old woman going around mixing up everyone's mail.(第二天早上,我被兩個(gè)非常有禮貌的警察敲了敲門。那個(gè)生氣的高個(gè)子男人打電話給警察,說我是個(gè)瘋婆)”,可知,那位男子不相信作者的解釋,選擇了報(bào)警。故選A項(xiàng)。
根據(jù)第四段第三句“Before I could finish telling them about what was going on, the officers had watched a dog approach my mailbox with mail in his mouth. He took out the mail that was in my box and put letters in. He pushed the door closed with his nose, picked up the new pile of mail he had gotten from my box, and repeated this all the way down the next street.
根據(jù)文章倒數(shù)第二段“The dog had belonged to a mail carrier who had died. No one thought to check (the carrier lived alone) on the man’s dog. The dog had been trained to put mail in and take mail out of the boxes. When he got loose, he assumed his duties.(這只狗的主人是一個(gè)已經(jīng)去世的郵遞員。沒有人想到要檢查一下這個(gè)人的狗。這條狗經(jīng)過訓(xùn)練,能把郵件放進(jìn)盒子里,把郵件取出來。當(dāng)它未拴住的時(shí)候,它就履行自己的職責(zé))”可知,這只狗受過訓(xùn)練會(huì)取放信件。在郵遞員去世后,它依舊履行職責(zé),可見它是一只訓(xùn)練有素且忠誠(chéng)的狗,故選A項(xiàng)。

(2022·江蘇南通·二模)When Narayanswami was invited to a dinner by a friend who worked at Nasa’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, she was excited. Many of the guests flew planes. “I must have expressed some yearning(渴望),”she says, because someone told her “You should join the flying club!” The next day Narayanswami, who was 57 at the time, arranged to meet an instructor. “I said ‘Aren’t I too old?” He said “We’ve got students in their 80s.”
Narayanswami grew up in Southwest London, and at grammar school suffered horrific racist bullying. The library provided shelter. New possibilities have arisen—Narayanswami chairs the board of the General Aviation Awards in the US—but she finds relaxing difficult. In light, she is part of a huge network of people who are communicating by radio frequency. There is no sense of skin colour. We are all tied together by our voices.

My favourite Books
—Posted by Catherine Chung.a great writer
Stories of Your Life and Others by Ted Chiang
This collection contains several maths stories. The one I recommend is Division By Zero, about Jane Parkinson,a brilliant German mathematician. To her great despair, she ends up proving that mathematics is inconsistent and is able to prove that any two numbers are equal.A beautiful,thought-provoking(發(fā)人深省的)story about belief, understanding, and faith.
The Housekeeper and the Professor by Yoko Ogawa
It's about a woman who comes to work for a once-great mathematician.Due to a brain injury,he has only 80 minutes of short-term memory available to him before he forgets everything. It is filled with beautiful maths, simply and clearly described alongside finely drawn relationships between the characters.

It is about a miner who thinks he's discovered the proof to the problem: construct a square, equal in area to a given circle. His wife, not knowing what has suddenly taken his attention and his time, fears he is being unfaithful. A moving exploration of the joys of entering a problem whole and the desire and impossibility of truly knowing those we love.

Though she grew up in New Jersey, she moved to San Francisco in her early twenties, met and married my dad out there. After I was born, they decided to return east, closer to their own parents. But she never let go of her love for the Bay Area.
California was always part of the conversation when I was a kid. I ate meals off a map-of-the-world placemat (餐墊), and Mom taught me to identify San Francisco before I learned where Hartford was. She told us stories of perfection on a single city, fantasizing about retiring out west. My dad would play along, but his heart wasn’t in the same place.
While my mother’s status in the nonprofit world advanced, her desire to move back to her favorite place grew strong. She applied for jobs in the Bay, underwent bicoastal Skype screenings, even traveled out for a couple of interviews on a whim Sometimes her cover letters disappeared, other times she made it down to the final two candidates. With each rejection, she promised to make her next job application even stronger.
This past May, I relocated from San Francisco to New York for a job. A few weeks later, Mom called me. Her pursuit had finally paid off. She’s been offered a vice president position at a public health nonprofit in Oakland. A few weeks later, she packed up her baggage and left Connecticut for good.
Our lives are more semblable than ever these days. We’re both discovering our new homes, making friends. We’re looking for a good yoga studio to join, reading the same books and chatting about the plots by text message. I emailed her photos from my trip to Burning Man and she replied with stories about her new coworkers who go every year. There’s even time for the occasional dating disaster.
Perhaps that’s the paradox (悖論) of growing older. Things will always change, and they can change immediately—my mother is proof. But an individual’s own power to create change always stays the same. Everything can change, and therefore nothing ever really changes.
Now when I’m out west for a visit, Mom meets me at a station with her big bag. We stop by the Grand Lake farmers market, picking out the freshest seasonal ingredients, before hiking up the hill to her new apartment. One of these days, I’ll actually cook her dinner.

(2022·浙江溫州·二模)Adnan, a 56-year-old father, wants to make it clear that it's not just mothers who can feel like failures in their home life. "I had the fairytale of what I'd be like as a dad," he says. "When our first child was born, I had images of all this stuff we'd do together. It didn't include pictures of sleepless nights, or every item of clothing being covered in snot and yoghurt."
He also says it doesn't get any easier with more children, because each child will have a different personality requiring different methods of parenting. "There's a fine line between child management, focusing on health and safety, and being a present dad, trying to listen to all their voices, "he says.
"No one explains that you're their protector as well as the person meeting their hygiene (衛(wèi)生) factors, feeding them, listening to playground politics and building their confidence. You're the person who is the narrative in their head about how great they are."
Adnan says that though he doesn't compare himself with other parents, he still finds it hard to shake the fairytale that is firmly in his head, compared with which he always comes up short. "The continuous refereeing (調(diào)解) and the delegate decision-making go beyond anything I've done in the workplace," he says,

(2022·湖北·一模)If the West has the apple, the East has the king of fruits: the mighty mango. Called “aam” in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi, this tropical fruit traces its origins to South Asia. Urdu and Hindi literature are filled with references to this fruit that once filled the kitchens and gardens of emperors.
Everyone is crazy about mangoes during the summer months in South Asia. City streets in India are lined with vendors(小販) selling all varieties of mangoes. Young and old bargain for better prices, mangoes are sent as gifts, restaurants have special mango menu items and the fruit becomes a gesture of goodwill between India and Pakistan, with the choicest varieties sent across the border to celebrate each country’s independence days.
South Asians all over the world await mango season. South Asian stores receive shipments of the fruit, though they are limited in quality and quantity. Each year, I savor(品嘗) my mangoes, though I’m saddened that popular varieties aren’t easily available in Vancouver.
Mango memories take me back to the city I was born in: Rourkela in the eastern part of India. In late March, just as the days would start to become hot, I remember mango trees blooming with their fresh fragrance in the breeze as we biked to school. Come April, the tees would start bearing fruit. I remember the thrill of sneaking out to collect raw mangoes, climbing onto the roof of our quarters and eating them with pink salt and powdered red chilies(紅辣椒粉) alongside my best friend.
Mango stories from my childhood are endless. But this summer in Vancouver, tired from the pandemic, I can’t help but remember my sweet mango memories. I realize that I need to wander the streets of my home country, to feel the intense heat of the summer months and soak in the country of my birth.
Instead, I am in a semi-lockdown state savoring mangoes, enjoying those I can find in Canada but missing the Indian varieties. This year, the mighty mango has become a symbol of the sense of loss that each one of us is feeling.

(2022·江西·南昌二中一模)In their letters to Santa Claus, most kids ask for toys, dolls or maybe a new Xbox. All Jonah Simons wanted was a coronavirus cure to save the world. That was last year. This holiday season, the 10-year-old Florida boy is back with a different request for Santa.
“Dear Santa, it’s Jonah. Do you remember me? I was the one who asked for a covid cure,” he wrote in a letter addressed to the North Pole and shared with CNN. “Thank you so much for the vaccine! You helped save lives. This year, can I please have a Santa costume to spread your joy around the world?”
With a relentless virus and threats of the Omicron variant still plaguing a weary nation, Jonah has big plans for the Santa suit. “I want to wear it and go around the neighborhood and spread Santa’s joy, asking people what they want for Christmas,” the fifth-grader said.
Jonah turned 10 in July, and instead of gifts he asked his family and friends to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. His birthday effort raised $1,000 in donations from family and friends all over—even his favorite employees at the local Publix store, his mother says.
He also marked his birthday by donating his hair to Locks of Love, the charity that makes wigs for kids with cancer or other medical conditions. During a year of lockdown, he teamed up with some friends and grew out his hair to nine inches.

(2022·河南·三模)Bees are a big part of the life cycle of plants, carrying pollen from one flower to another and allowing plants to produce their frequently yummy output. But with bee populations on the decline, what can take their place? How about soap bubbles(肥皂泡)?
It may sound fantastical. But Eijiro Miyako and his colleague at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology have used battery—powered bubble makers to pollinate(授粉)a pear orchard. The details of their magical approach to agriculture are in the journal Science.
A few years back, Miyako and his team tried to copy the pollinating of honeybees by adopting a two—inch-long toy drone with brushes made of horsehair. But the tiny flyer was tough to control. And its hairy little brushes ended up damaging the delicate targets.
After spending some time blowing bubbles with his son, Miyako started thinking more seriously about these soapy little wonders. He figured bubbles would be sticky enough to carry and deliver a pollen load but soft and flexible, so they shouldn’t hurt a blossom when they land. The researchers chemically bettered their soapy solution to make bubbles that were mechanically stable and actually enhanced the pollination process. Out in the orchard, they aimed their soap bubbles at row after row of pear trees. And they found the bubble system worked just as well as the more labor—intensive pollination by hand: pear trees pollinated by bubble eventually yielded fruit—a sweet sign of success. Miyako has also upgraded the drone—this time using a larger model—equipped with a machine that lets out a huge number of bubbles in a short time. And it has a big advantage over the hand—held model. Because it’s fully autonomously controllable by GPS with Google Map. So the drones can make a beeline to where farmers need them, you know, to be.
104. Why do people try other ways to help pollinate plants?
A. Because raising bees needs much labor.
B. Because the number of bees is decreasing.
C. Because bees work inefficiently.
D. Because bees produce less honey now.
105. What was the problem with the toy drone?
A. It was hard to operate. B. It couldn’t work from a distance.
C. It produced few bubbles. D. It needed to be recharged often.
106. What can we learn about the upgraded drone?
A. It is a hand—held model. B. It is much more efficient.
C. It hurts blossoms sometimes. D. It is too large to be controllable.
107. What is the best title of the passage?
A. Pear trees bear less fruit recently B. The population of bees is decreasing
C. Drones benefit modern agriculture D. Soap bubbles help pollinate plants

(2022·江西贛州·一模)“I’ll be back later, Lily. I know you can manage the store on your own.” Lily’s father said reassuringly as he walked towards the front door. Lily saw his eyes beaming with pride. She was thankful that her father continued to shower her with love after all the trouble she had caused him.
Lily loved climbing trees. She could not remember the countless times she ended up with a broken arm. She was scolded occasionally by her teachers for being late for school. Once, just to make herself feel good, she challenged a few boys in her class to a race, which landed her in trouble with the discipline master for coming up with the idea and not thinking of their safety in the school.
Lily was well-known among the neighbours. Surprisingly, it was not for her troubles. There were instances in which she gave items in their store for free to the needy in the neighbourhood. As she did not think it was necessary to inform her father, she did the kind act quietly. However, she forgot one thing—the cameras in the store.
No sooner had her father left than Lily saw an elderly lady coming into the store, looking tired. Slowly the woman went to a corner and took a small packet of rice. She took some cash from her purse and spoke softly, “This is all I have. Is it enough?” Lily smiled. She was short of two dollars.Lily did not want to disappoint her and thought of something. Then she said, “I think it is enough since we are having a discount today on this packet of rice.” The woman gazed at Lily, relieved.
One hour later, Lily’s father came back and looked at Lily, expressionless. Oh no, Lily thought. Did he know what I just did? Lily wondered what her father would say to her for giving a discount without his approval. Unexpectedly, he gave her a hug and said. “That’s my girl! I know you’ll make me proud one day.” His words really meant a lot to her. She was determined to mend her ways and make her parents proud.

(2022·四川·石室中學(xué)模擬預(yù)測(cè))There were many institutions in the city where he could find lodging and food in the name of charity. But Soapy was too proud to receive the gifts of charity. He did not enjoy having to discuss his situation and private affairs with strangers. In Soapy’s mind, being a guest of the law was a much better option.
Soapy, having decided to go to the Island, set about accomplishing his goal immediately. There were many easy ways of moving toward his desire.
At a corner of Sixth Avenue was a shop with a wide glass window. Soapy took a stone and threw it through a show window. People came running around the corner. A cop was the first among them. Soapy stood still, with his hands in his pockets and smiled at the cop. “It was me,” said Soapy, still smiling.
The cop ignored Soapy completely. Men who break windows do not stay around to turn themselves in. They run as fast as they can. The cop saw a man further along the street, running. He ran after him. Soapy failed, sick at heart.
When he noticed a cop standing in front of a theater, Soapy decided to show the cop some “disorderly behaviors”. On the sidewalk, Soapy began to scream at the top of his lungs. To his surprise, the cop turned his back and said to a passerby, “noisy, but no harm!” The wind was gettingcold. Soapy buttoned up his thin coat and walked away with a sad face.
Soapy walked slowly away. He had failed two times.
At last Soapy stepped before an old church on a quiet corner, where the organist played a Sunday anthem. Through the window a soft light glowed. The moon was above; vehicles and pedestrians were few; sparrows twittered sleepily under the roof. The influences of the music and the old church aroused a sudden and wonderful impulse in Soapy’s soul, driving him to battle with his desperate fate. He would make a man of himself again.
Soapy felt a hand on his arm.
“What are you doing here?” A cop asked.
“Nothing.”
“Then come along!” said the policeman.
“Three months on the island,” said the Judge the next morning.
112. What did Soapy attempt to do to go through the winter?
A. To receive the gifts of charity. B. To live in an old church.
C. To be a guest of an island. D. To stay in jail on the island.
113. What do Paragraph 3-5 mainly talk about?
A. The wisdom of the cops. B. Unsuccessful attempts of Soapy.
C. The determination of Soapy. D. The kindness of the cops.
114. What can we infer from Paragraph 7 about Soapy?
A. It was the anthem from the old church that led to the change in Soapy’s mind.
B. The old church was on a quiet corner with a soft light through its windows.
C. Everything seemed peaceful and quiet in Soapy’s life.
D. Soapy would fight with the cop to make a difference.
115. What is the author’s attitude towards the final end of Soapy?
A. Concerned. B. Satisfied.
C. Ironic. D. Indifferent.
根據(jù)第一段最后一句話“In Soapy’s mind, being a guest of the law was a much better option.(在索比看來,當(dāng)個(gè)法律的客人是一個(gè)更好的選擇。)”
通讀第三、四、五段,尤其是第三段的“Soapy took a stone and threw it through a show window. People came running around the corner. A cop was the first among them. Soapy stood still, with his hands in his pockets and smiled at the cop.(索比撿起一塊石頭,通過櫥窗扔了出去。人們從拐角處跑過來。第一個(gè)是警察。索比站著不動(dòng),雙手插在口袋里,對(duì)警察笑了笑。)”和第五段的“When he noticed a cop standing in front of a theater, Soapy decided to show the cop some “disorderly behaviors”.(當(dāng)他注意到一個(gè)警察站在一家劇院前時(shí),索比決定讓那個(gè)警察看看他的一些“擾亂治安行為”。)”
根據(jù)第七段中“The influences of the music and the old church aroused a sudden and wonderful impulse in Soapy’s soul, driving him to battle with his desperate fate.(音樂和老教堂的影響在索比的靈魂里激起了一種突然而奇妙的沖動(dòng),驅(qū)使他同絕望的命運(yùn)作斗爭(zhēng)。)” It was the anthem from the old church that led to the change in Soapy’s mind,故選A。
根據(jù)第七段的“The influences of the music and the old church aroused a sudden and wonderful impulse in Soapy’s soul, driving him to battle with his desperate fate. He would make a man of himself again.(音樂和老教堂的影響在索比的靈魂里激起了一種突然而奇妙的沖動(dòng),驅(qū)使他同絕望的命運(yùn)作斗爭(zhēng)。他會(huì)重新成為一個(gè)男子漢。)”和文章最后一句““Three months on the island,” said the Judge the next morning.(“在島上三個(gè)月?!钡诙煸缟戏ü僬f。)”可知,Sopy兩次嘗試想被逮捕入獄過冬都失敗了,最后在教堂和贊美詩(shī)的感召之下想重新做人的時(shí)候,卻被逮捕入獄了。因此推斷作者通過前后的對(duì)比來諷刺這個(gè)社會(huì)的冷漠,因此作者對(duì)索比的最后結(jié)局持諷刺態(tài)度,即Ironic,故選C。

(2022·寧夏·銀川一中一模)Max Hidalgo, a biologist and inventor, was honored as one of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Young Champions of the Earth for 2020. His most praised invention thus far turns the wind into water.
The technology, called Yawa, is much needed in Peru, one of the countries in Latin America most at risk of a water crisis due to the changing climate. “There are communities that have been waiting for water for 20 years and rely on trucks that come in with expensive water of questionable quality,” he said. “We went to one town in southern Peru and the cost of piped water for this community of 100 people was about $ 1m!”
The Yawa technology is an example of best practice in the circular economy. Materials used to build the machine are recyclable. The technology is even being adjusted to local air quality, a response to the challenges caused by air pollution. But most importantly, the technology can be used, owned and repaired by the communities it serves, even if they are not clear on the science behind it.
“When I was first testing this technology in different rural communities, I spent a lot of time explaining the technical aspects of it,” Hidalgo said. “At one point a woman stopped me and looked me in the eye and said, ‘Young man, I just want water.’ And that changed something inside of me, and I knew that I had to keep things simple.”
Hidalgo finds that getting out of the lab and into communities is vital for anyone seeking to produce environmental change. “We have to listen to what communities want and respond to their needs. That is where the winds of creation take us.” he said.
116. What does Hidalgo stress in paragraph 2?
A. The condition of water quality.
B. The consequence of climate change.
C. The popularity of the Yawa technology.
D. The necessity of solving water shortage.
117. What can be learned about the Yawa technology?
A. It is a little expensive. B. It is green.
C. It is hard to operate. D. It has great flexibility.
118. What does the underlined sentence in paragraph 4 imply?
A. The woman didn’t trust Yawa.
B. The woman badly needed water.
C. The science behind Yawa was complex.
D. The test on Yawa was disappointing.
119. Which is especially important for creators according to Hidalgo?
A. Satisfying the communities’ demands.
B. Taking every creative idea seriously.
C. Using science to make life much easier.
D. Doing experiments indoors and outdoors.
由第二段“The technology, called Yawa, is much needed in Peru, one of the countries in Latin America most at risk of a water crisis due to the changing climate. “There are communities that have been waiting for water for 20 years and rely on trucks that come in with expensive water of questionable quality,” he said. “We went to one town in southern Peru and the cost of piped water for this community of 100 people was about $ 1m!”(秘魯是拉丁美洲因氣候變化而面臨水危機(jī)風(fēng)險(xiǎn)最大的國(guó)家之一,急需這種名為“Yawa”技術(shù)。
由第三段中的“The Yawa technology is an example of best practice in the circular economy. Materials used to build the machine are recyclable. (Yawa技術(shù)是循環(huán)經(jīng)濟(jì)最佳實(shí)踐的一個(gè)例子。用于制造機(jī)器的材料是可回收的)”可得出,Yawa技術(shù)很環(huán)保。故選B項(xiàng)。
118. 詞句猜測(cè)題。由第四段中的““When I was first testing this technology in different rural communities, I spent a lot of time explaining the technical aspects of it,” Hidalgo said. (“當(dāng)我第一次在不同的農(nóng)村社區(qū)測(cè)試這項(xiàng)技術(shù)時(shí),我花了很多時(shí)間解釋它的技術(shù)方面,”伊達(dá)爾戈說)”可知,Max Hidalgo花了很多時(shí)間向村民解釋這項(xiàng)技術(shù)的原理;畫線句后“And that changed something inside of me, and I knew that I had to keep things simple. (這改變了我的內(nèi)心,我知道我必須保持簡(jiǎn)單)”可知,那位女士的話“Young man, I just want water.(年輕人,我只想要水)”表明之前Yawa技術(shù)背后的科學(xué)原理很復(fù)雜,人們很難理解,所以Max Hidalgo才決定讓事情變得簡(jiǎn)單。故選C項(xiàng)。
由最后一段“Hidalgo finds that getting out of the lab and into communities is vital for anyone seeking to produce environmental change. “We have to listen to what communities want and respond to their needs. That is where the winds of creation take us.” he said. 故選A項(xiàng)。
