When researchers lked int this tmat matter, they uncvered a fascinating genetic cause fr the fruit's dullness. What t blame is a gene mutatin （基因突變） discvered accidentally arund 70 years ag, nt which tmat grwers quickly relied. In fact, nw the mutatin has been deliberately grwn int nearly all mdern tmates.
Why? It makes them a unifrm and attractively red when ripe.
