My jb is t train rats t find landmines (地雷) s the dangers can be cleared t save lives. I wrk fr a Belgian nn-gvernmental rganizatin called App that perates frm Mrgr, in my hme cuntry f Tanzania. The rats I train are used in mine-clearing prgrams arund the wrld, including in Angla, Azerbaijan and Cambdia.
The animals we use are a species f African giant rat called Cricetmys ansrgei They are brn in sub-Saharan Africa and are the size f a small cat, which makes them easy t catch. They als live lnger than ther rats, which is helpful fr the prgram, because it takes between nine mnths and a year t train ne fully.
My clleagues and I use a methd called clicker training: we teach the rats t relate a click with a fd reward, and then use clicks t gradually reward their behaviur. Rats are naturally curius, s they will explre, and their great sense f smell means they can find buried landmines.
T teach the rats what t lk fr, we place small amunts f TNT explsives in sme tea eggs and mix them with nes filled with ther things. We reward the rats fr tuching these, then mve n t reward them nly when they tuch a tea egg filled with explsives, rather than nes filled with ther things, such as hair, flwers and s n. The rats need t perfrm perfectly at each stage f training befre they mve t the next stage. In the final stage, we use real landmines in a training field.
As trainers, we build a cnnectin with the rats we train. Sme are slw learners; thers knw the prcess very quickly. Mst f the rats make it thrugh, eventually. I wrk with ur resident scientists t cntinually fllw and imprve ur training prgram, because the rats are s clever that they can be smarter than trainers!

A.Mst rats are quick learners.
B.The training wn’t stay the same.
C.Real landmines aren’t used in training.
D.Rats can find ut all the explsives accurately.
27.What is the main idea f the text?

A revlutin in weather frecasting culd sn see warnings f cming heatwaves, strms r ther extreme events accmpanied by specific infrmatin n the rle climate change has played in fuelling them. The shift wuld help bring the reality f ur warming planet t the general public.
Key t this idea is the grwing field f attributin science(歸因科學(xué)), which invlves examining extreme weather events after the fact t detail the impact f climate change. It invlves simulating an event twice, under real-wrld cnditins and in a fictinal wrld with n human-caused climate change. The difference between thse tw situatins reveals the extent t which rising emissins(排放)made matters wrse. Nw, researchers want t g further and apply attributin science t events befre they even happen.
At the UK weather service, the Met Office, Peter Sttt and his clleagues are ding this with weather frecasting mdels, cmparing real-wrld frecasts with nes based n a fictinal wrld unaffected by human influence. The gal is t prvide the public with weather and climate infrmatin at the same time. “S, the frecast shws hw the weather infrmatin relates t climate change, and the impacts it will mean fr them lcally.”
Bernat at the Institute f GeSciences in Spain has experimented with a different apprach, using artificial intelligence-pwered weather frecasts. Tgether with clleagues, he ran the AI-enabled apprach n three past extreme events: the 2018 Iberian heatwave, Hurricane Flrence in the US in2018, and Strm Ciaran in the UK and ther parts f nrthern Eurpe in 2023. The AI mdels crrectly predicted that all three extreme events wuld ccur, but underestimated their size. Bernat says the AI apprach is currently mst accurate when cnsidering heatwaves but mre limited fr cmplex systems such as a trpical strm.
But Bernat says AI weather frecasts are rapidly imprving. He says this AI-based apprach wuld allw attributin analysis t be much mre widely used, helping t expand peple’s understanding f hw extreme events are changing.
28.What will be added t weather frecasting after the revlutin?

B.The effect f climate change n extreme weather events.
C.Specific ways fr the public t fight against climate change.
D.The damage extreme weather events cause t the envirnment.
29.What’s the purpse f the wrk f Peter’s team?
A.T cnnect lcal weather with climate change.
B.T predict the degree f lcal carbn emissins.
C.T apply AI t the predictin f extreme events.
D.T build a mdel t prduce climate infrmatin.
30.What is Bernat’s attitude tward AI weather frecasts?
A.Unclear.B.Dismissive.C.Dubtful.D.Apprving.
31.Which f the fllwing can be the best title fr the text?
A.Weather Frecasts Enjy a Great Change Fuelled by AI
B.Emissins Are Predicted t Fuel Extreme Weather Events
C.Climate Infrmatin Will Be Added t Weather Frecasts

Mre digital devices equal less time t cncentrate and t think. The negative effects f this n researchers are settled by cmputer scientist Cal Newprt in his latest bk, Slw Prductivity.
The bk’s title challenges the idea that prductivity must always increase, which is cmmn in many wrkplaces. A study has shwn that science is becming less disruptive (引起混亂的), even thugh there are nw mre papers being published than ever befre. Newprt, wh studies technlgy in the wrkplace at Gergetwn University in Washingtn DC, says that researchers and ther knwledge wrkers need t slw dwn and spend mre time thinking t fcus n imprving quality in their wrk.
Newer cmmunicatins technlgies have enrmus benefits, including speeding up research. But they are als cmpressing thinking time. Cmmunicatins technlgies are sure t evlve further and t cntinue distracting researchers frm their wrk.
Newprt’s paper raises a much mre fundamental questin: what is the impact f lst cncentratin time n science — nt just n the structure and prcess f science, but als n the cntent and quality f research? Newprt used many examples t explain the questin. These examples will help researchers and institutinal leaders t make better decisins abut the technlgies’ arrangement and time t think.
Newprt als refers t sme studies n hw thinking time can be prtected in a wrld f instant cmmunicatin and gives suggestins n increasing thinking time, including limiting the number f items n t-d lists and aviding individual members sending e-mails t each ther. Fr institutins, Newprt recmmends a clear wrklad management system — a way fr managers t see everything that a clleague is expected t d — and then t adjust the wrklad if there are mre tasks than there is available time.
32.What’s the general thught in many wrkplaces?

根據(jù)文章第二段第二句“They are brn in sub-Saharan Africa and are the size f a small cat, which makes them easy t catch.(它們出生在撒哈拉以南的非洲,體型和小貓差不多大,這使得它們很容易被抓到。)”
根據(jù)文章第三段“My clleagues and I use a methd called clicker training: we teach the rats t relate a click with a fd reward, and then use clicks t gradually reward their behaviur. Rats are naturally curius, s they will explre, and their great sense f smell means they can find buried landmines.(我和我的同事們使用了一種叫做“點(diǎn)擊訓(xùn)練”的方法:我們教老鼠把點(diǎn)擊和食物獎勵聯(lián)系起來,然后用點(diǎn)擊來逐漸獎勵它們的行為。
根據(jù)文章最后一段“I wrk with ur resident scientists t cntinually fllw and imprve ur training prgram, because the rats are s clever that they can be smarter than trainers!(我和我們的常駐科學(xué)家一起不斷跟進(jìn)和改進(jìn)我們的訓(xùn)練計(jì)劃,因?yàn)槔鲜蠓浅B斆?,有時甚至可能比訓(xùn)練師還聰明!)”
