Fr years, we’ve been teaching a class n music and the mind. At the start f each semester, we’ve asked the students t cmplete a survey n their favrite sngs and artists. Students’ favrite sngs and artists get lnger and mre varied each year and their playlists barely verlap(重疊).
Indeed, listening t music is a deeply private and persnal experience nwadays and even mre s with the intrductin f the iPd and smartphnes. When teenagers listen t music via streaming, artificial intelligence and scial media platfrms team up t suggest persnalized playlists fr them.
Sme yung peple feel that AI generated playlists make them expsed t smething dull. Their playlists are ppulated with sngs and artists they’ve never heard f befre, yet they all sund similar. In the past, they might nt have nticed such a situatin. Their musical cnsumptin was narrwly dminated by the“Tp-40” artists. Hwever, AI generated playlists have changed this, since a wider range f music is available. If they think their AI influenced playlists are unappealing, they still have the ability t search fr new music. Just because AI can suggest sngs, it desn’t prevent them researching and discvering music n their wn, r sharing playlists. Anything that exists, they can find. The stre is always pen.
Music listening and preferences play an imprtant rle in yung peple’s transitin(過(guò)渡) frm childhd t adulthd, tw seemingly ppsing but vital prcesses: frming a unique identity, while at the same time becming part f a cmmunity. Hwever, AI generated playlists have the ptential t challenge this transitin. S des AI make it easier t differentiate the self, but harder t bnd with thers?
Fears f new technlgies are cmmnplace. Fr example, the decline f scheduled netwrk TV erased lts f cmmn grund fr discussin, s will 50 millin Americans ever again tune in t watch the series ending fa TV shw, as they did fr Friends in 2004?
If AI is, indeed, cntributing t the transfrmatin f teenagers’ shared listening experiences, then AI playlists are mre than a cnvenient way t discver their next favrites. They are a revlutin wrth paying attentin t.

C. The easy access t musical instruments.D. The extensive use f electrnic devices.
29. What is Paragraph 3 mainly abut cncerning AI generated playlists?

C. They make identifying neself impssible.D. They prvide less fr teens t cmmunicate.
31. Why des the authr mentin Friends in Paragraph 5?
A. T shw the ptential scial influence f AI.
B. T tell us the predictability f new technlgy.
C. T explain peple’s willingness t accept AI.

When Mammla and Ficetla went t an eclgy cnference in 2021, they met a scientist with an unusual cmplaint. Struck by their cnversatin with Andersn and alarmed at hw unusual species were ignred, the Italian scientists set ut t find ut hw well species were represented in the emji library. The answer wasn’t satisfactry at all: animals were well represented by available emjis but plants, fungi and micrrganisms(微生物) were nt. “Our findings cnfirm a typical prejudice in bidiversity research and a feature f human psychlgy,” said Mammla. “We usually feel mre caring and sympathetic twards living things that are genetically clser t us.”
“A gd representatin f species n scial media can aruse interest in unfamiliar rganisms, greatly help publicize the message that bidiversity is much mre than just cats, dgs, lins and pandas, and indirectly help cnservatin effrts,” said Mammla. “There are an impressive number f rganisms, and all f them play a fundamental rle n ur planet, even the nes we knw less abut.”
Sme scientists have taken steps t describe their research n their phne keybards with images instead f wrds. Hwever, accrding t Mammla, the number f animal species represented rse frm 45 in 2015 t 92 in 2022, yet the number f plants, fungi and micrrganisms represented barely increased.

D. Helping peple grasp cmplex cncepts f science.
35. What is Mammla’s attitude tward the prgress f emji bidiversity?
A. Unclear.B. Unsatisfied.C. Dubtful.D. Hpeful.

Wildlife dcumentaries are knwn fr ffering breathtaking images f animals in their natural habitats. 37 Usually, dcumentary filmmakers can film their subjects frm a great distance, but they typically can’t get clse enugh t capture clear sunds withut disturbing the animals. 38 There will prbably be backgrund nises such as crew members chatting r walking arund if sunds are recrded n lcatin. In ther cases, the animals might make sunds f a frequency r vlume that mst micrphnes simply can’t capture clearly.
“Fley artists” will use a variety f tls t simulate(模擬) the sunds made by animals. And mst f them will create the clse-up sunds f animals chewing r yawning with their wn muths. These sunds are created as the artist watches the vides, making sure they perfectly match the actins they’re paired with. 39 Animal cries-which are far t cmplex t be simulated-will have t be taken frm library recrdings.
Watching “Fley artists” at wrk n wildlife prjects gives me a thrill like the ne we get when we see hw a magic trick is dne. 40 Sunds have the ability t affect hw we understand a given species. The way certain animals are prtrayed in ppular media may affect supprt fr cnservatin effrts.
