Ted’s Dream t Fly
Ted Brwn’s dream as a child was an unusual ne: he wanted t fly. What was mre unusual was the way in which he made his dream cme true.
After high schl, he wanted t jin the U. S. Air Frce but he failed because f his pr eyesight. Hwever, his dream remained.
At the age f 33, Ted was a truck driver in Ls Angeles. One day, while sitting utside in his garden, he watched planes fly verhead and an idea came t him: t use ballns t fly.
A few weeks later, Ted bught 42 huge ballns. He tied them t a chair and then he sat dwn in the chair with sme beer, sandwiches and a gun. His plan was t fly t 10 meters abve his garden, enjy a few hurs in the air, and then sht sme ballns with his gun t get back dwn. But things did nt g as he planned.
Once his friends cut the rpes under Ted’s chair, the 42 ballns flew int the sky at an astnishing speed until abut 4000 meters abve the grund with Ted and his chair. He didn’t sht any f the ballns because he was afraid he might break the balance f his “plane”. Ted stayed in the sky with his beer and sandwiches fr 14 hurs, cld and frightened.
