Starting t run at 60 has certainly turned my life upside dwn. I made a bucket list and managed t tick ff a few things already. And then I started running.
I heard abut a running prgram in Delhi. It targeted wmen wh had never run befre, with the aim f getting nn-runners fit enugh t run 6 kilmeters in 10 weeks.
Despite the painful slwness and my cnstant ut-f-breath state, what emerged frm the early mrning runs was a definite sense f happiness. At the end f a run, I felt better, happier, and energized. I’d started running because, at my age, I felt I needed t be active, and here I was bursting with energy and getting strnger by the week.
In February this year, I ran my secnd full marathn and wn a gld medal in my categry. There was als the silver in my first full marathn and my first half marathn. It’s been a jurney f nthing but fun. I run. And I was hked.
There have been mments f aches and pains, tripping and falling dwn, but these are nthing cmpared t the thrill f taking part in yur first ever race, at 60. The aches are nthing cmpared t the energizing rush yu get at the end f a run. In the early days, there were als many mments f self-dubt. Thse mments were far wrse than the ccasinal aches, but the jy f running quickly utweighed the bad.
