Their new AI tl can tell playful barks frm aggressive (挑釁的) nes, as well as identifying a dg’s age, sex and s n, based n their sunds.
One f the biggest prblems in develping AI mdels fr animal sunds is the lack f publicly available data. Unlike human speech, which can be easily recrded, cllecting sunds frm animals is quite an effrt. “Animal sunds are much harder t get and recrd,” explained Artem Abzaliev, an expert in cmputer science and engineering. “They must be passively recrded in the wild r, fr huse pets, with the wner’s permissin.”
T slve this prblem, the researchers adapted an existing mdel designed fr human speech analysis. The AI mdel, called Wav2Vec2, was riginally designed t recgnize human speech patterns. This mdel is excellent at identifying tnes, pitches, and accents in human vices, s the researchers made use f it t analyze dg barks. Surprisingly, it culd tell different types f barks with up t 70% accuracy (準確度)! It was even better than mdels specifically designed fr dg barks, which researchers fund ttally interesting.
