Lve them r hate them, emjis have becme an imprtant part f ur 21st-century culture. Over 90 percent f the wrld's 4.6 billin internet users send them. In 2015, Oxfrd Dictinaries chse Face With Tears f Jy () as its Wrd f the Year. Tw years later, Hllywd tried t fllw the fad(短暫的狂熱) with The Emji Mvie, thugh the reviews fr the film were pr.
Hwever, sme language experts are against this frm f cmmunicatin. They cnsider it a step back int the dark ages f illiteracy(沒(méi)文化). Emjis, they say, are making us dumb____cmmunicatrs. Peple are depending n these "picture characters", rather than wrds, t express their feelings.
I want t challenge this pint f view. I'm afraid these experts have misunderstd hw cmmunicatin wrks.
Emjis aren't replacing language. Instead, they are making ur message mre understandable by filling in the emtinal signals(感情符號(hào)). Here is an example. Withut an emji, what I mean by the fllwing message wuld be puzzling: "Hey, I fell dwn and banged(磕) my head n the kitchen wall." My addressee(收信人) might have difficulty wrking ut my true feelings. Shuld he laugh ("Ha-ha! Yu're-s-silly!") r take pity n me ("Oh, hpe it desn't hurt t badly.")? The additin f an emji (r) will spell ut the meaning behind my wrds. Emjis are t text messages what bdy language is t spken cmmunicatin. They allw us t cmmunicate mre effectively.
S we prbably dn't have t wrry abut this fad as lng as we dn't veruse emjis. These lvely characters, n the whle, are helpful.
8. What's the main idea f the first paragraph?
A . The advantages f emjis. B . The ppularity f emjis. C . The characteristics f emjis.
9. What des the underlined wrd "dumb cmmunicatrs" in paragraph 2 mean?
A . 智慧的溝通者 B . 高效的溝通者 C . 寡言的溝通者
10. Why des the writer use the example in paragraph 4?
A . T shw emjis are helpful. B . T prve emjis are harmful. C . T present emjis are fearful.
11. What's the main idea f this text?
A . Emjis enrich ur language. B . Emjis hurt peple's feelings. C . Emjis make peple puzzled.

●Dn't argue with yur parents.
Dn't cnfrnt(和對(duì)峙) yur parents with anger. Yur parents prbably wn't cnsider yur ideas if yu are shuting at them. Neither can yu express yurself well if yu are angry. G smewhere t cl ff. Make sure yu understand why yu are unhappy. 13 If yu dn't think yu can speak t them at that mment, try writing it dwn.
●Try t reach a cmprmise(和解).
Perhaps yu and yur parents disagree n smething. Yu can still disagree but try yur best t find a slutin that's favrable(有利的) t each f yu. Michael's mther didn't agree with him abut buying a car. They argued ver it, but finally, they came t a cmprmise. Michael bught the car, but he nly drve it n certain days.
Of curse, yur parents might refuse t cmprmise n smething. 14 Shwing respect will keep yur relatinship strng.
