The mre abstract the claims, the less likely participants were t agree that they were cmmn sense ("all human beings are created equal";“perceptin is the nly surce f knwledge"). When they split the claims by subject, the researchers fund that thse cncerning technlgy and science were the mst likely t be rated as cmmnsensical, while matters f histry and philsphy were the least likely.
A respndent's age, sex, incme and persnal plitics had little effect n what they thught cunted as cmmn sense, althugh psychlgical measures f scial perceptiveness and the ability t reflect n ne's pinins did.
Having investigated individual pinins, the researchers lked at hw cmmn sense wrks acrss big grups. Here, they fund much less agreement than might have been expected: Only arund 44%f claims in the language database were rated as cmmnsensical by at least 75%f respndents
