I began t recgnize thers there: wrkers taking breaks by the dr, a mther and her baby, and even sme delivery drivers. But Sandy was the center f my cmmunity. During the winter, I fllwed its ftprints far acrss the fields. Suddenly I was alarmed by the hwling f wlves near me. I ran away frightened, stumbled and hurt my ankle. It healed very slwly, s that I had t stay at hme during the winter, reading a bk abut animals f the frest and fxes.
When spring arrived, I was free again. I lked fr fx kennels and waited fr my fx. T my amazement, it had gt yung nes but kept mving because f my bservatins; therefre I decided t bserve the fx frm a lnger distance.
Finally, it wuld let me get clse. Finally, it wuld let me get clse.
But befre that, several days had seen my distant and patient bservatin, during which time the fx gradually gt accustmed t my presence and finally quit mving. Delighted t see its attitude transfrmatin, I started t bring sme fd, put it utside the kennel and sn returned t my distant bservatin site t avid disturbing and frightening the fx. Every time, it carried the fd back t the kennel after cautiusly sniffing. Several times later, I attempted t get clse and was astnished t find that it didn`t get away. What thrilled me further was that it wuld even initiatively walk t me and lie beside me fr a while. S thrilled was I that ne day I impulsively tk it hme, imaging t tame it with tips frm my bk.
T my surprise, the day after I tk it hme, it fled. _________________________________________________

T my surprise, the day after I tk it hme, it fled. A mixture f grief and disappintment verwhelming me, I rushed twards the kennel, expecting t take it back again. Hwever, what came int my sight when I arrived deeply shcked and tuched me. The fx was surrunded by its yung nes, sme f whm were lying in its warm belly peacefully and leisurely, with its eyes narrwing under warm sunshine and sft frest breeze. It was at this mment that I realized why the fx fled and what I shuld d. Since then, my selfish desire t ccupy and tame it has cmpletely vanished. Instead, I just regularly brught sme fd and bserved quietly and cntentedly frm the distance as I did befre, because I have been cnvinced that fascinatin and affectin mean respecting and giving freedm instead f ccupatin.
