Researchers in the psychlgy department at the University f Califrnia at Ls Angeles (UCLA) have discvered a majr difference in the way men and wmen respnd t stress. This difference may explain why men are mre likely t suffer frm stress-related disrders.
Until nw, psychlgical research has maintained that bth men and wmen have the same “fight-r-flight" reactin t stress. In ther wrds, individuals either react with aggressive behavir, such as verbal r physical cnflict (“fight”), r they react by withdrawing frm the stressful situatin (“flight”). Hwever, the UCLA research team fund that men and wmen have quite different bilgical and behaviral respnses t stress. While men ften react t stress in the fight-r-fight respnse, wmen ften have anther kind f reactin which culd be called “tend and befriend. " That is, they ften react t stressful cnditins by prtecting and nurturing their yung (“tend”), and by lking fr scial cntact and supprt frm thers—especially ther females (“befriend”).
Scientists have lng knwn that in the fight-r-flight reactin t stress, an imprtant rle is played by certain hrmnes (激素) released by the bdy. The UCLA research team suggests that the female tend-r-befriend respnse is als based n a hrmne. This hrmne, called xytcin (催產(chǎn)素), has been studied in the cntext f childbirth, but nw it is being studied fr its rle in the respnse f bth men and wmen t stress. The principal investigatr, Dr. Shelley E. Taylr, explained that “animals and peple with high levels f xytcin are calmer, mre relaxed, mre scial, and less anxius.” While men als secrete (分泌) xytcin, its effects are reduced by male hrmnes.
In terms f everyday behavir, the UCLA study fund that wmen are far mre likely than men t seek scial cntact when they are feeling stressed. They may phne relatives r friends, r ask directins if they are lst.
The study als shwed hw fathers and mthers respnded differently when they came hme t their family after a stressful day at wrk. The typical father wanted t be left alne t enjy sme peace and quiet. Fr a typical mther, tackling a bad day at wrk meant fcusing her attentin n her children and their needs.
The differences in respnding t stress may explain the fact that wmen have lwer frequency f stress-related disrders such as high bld pressure r aggressive behavir. The tend-and-befriend regulatry (調(diào)節(jié)的) system may prtect wmen against stress, and this may explain why wmen n average live lnger than men.
61. The UCLA study shws that in respnse t stress, men are mre likely than wmen t ____________.
A. turn t friends fr helpB. slve a cnflict calmly
C. seek cmfrt frm childrenD. find an escape frm reality
62. Which f the fllwing is true abut xytcin accrding t the passage?
A. Men have the same level f xytcin as wmen d.
B. Oxytcin used t be studied in bth men and wmen.
C. Oxytcin has mre f an effect n wmen than n men.
D. Bth animals and peple have high levels f xytcin.
63. What can be learned frm the passage?
A. Bilgical differences lead t different behaviral respnses t stress.
B. In a family a mther cares mre abut children than a father des.
C. Male hrmnes help build up the bdy's resistance t stress.
D. The UCLA study was designed t cnfirm previus research findings.

The phrase “digital nmads (游民)” suggests jyful peple wh escape their daily wrk t travel the wrld, wrking with laptps n beaches. Relevant statistics regularly made the headline “There will be ne billin digital nmads by 2035”.
I started researching digital nmads in 2015, and it tk me three years t develp an understanding f what might be ging n. I've met hundreds f peple wh think f themselves as digital nmads and many mre wh have dreamed abut becming ne. The first thing I learned is that hw peple feel abut the label “digital nmad” changes ver time. Peple starting ut ften assume it's a permanent lifestyle, but that's rarely the case. One f my respndents explained, “I dn't g arund calling myself a digital nmad nw. It's a bit silly.” Indeed, there's still debate abut whether it’s a buzzwrd (時髦用語) r a real phenmenn. Sme have even tried t figure ut hw “authentic” a digital nmad is, by hw much they mve frm place t place. And there has been heated debate nline abut wh's a real digital nmad, and wh is merely self-prmting.
Mst f the digital nmads I spke t, wh nce had well-paid jbs, tld me that they were escaping frm deeply-rted prblems in the cntemprary Western wrkplace. One f my respndents, Lisette, a skilled translatr frm Hamburg, Germany, is able t prduce high-quality wrk quickly. She is sn tired f the culture f presenteeism (出勤主義) at her wrkplace. She explained, “I’m efficient and I like t get the wrk dne and leave n time. Others were bviusly scared t leave first, s they wuld sit at their desks and play with their cmputers.”
Nearly 40% f British adults believe their jbs dn't make sense. Their husing is f pr quality and t expensive, and the ecnmies dn't prvide yung peple with wages they can live n. With these challenges, it's hardly surprising that thse new t the wrld are already desperate t escape. Yet there are certain cmplexities that cme with living as a citizen f the wrld. As Lisette said, “Digital nmads can quickly becme islated.” Digital nmads have t shulder respnsibility fr almst every aspect f mdern life: their mental health, daily rutine, incme, safety and shelter. Mst digital nmads travel n turist visas, which requires them t mve regularly--an experience my participants have described as disrienting (使人迷失方向的).
Being a digital nmad can be rewarding and ffers an escape frm the bring ffice hur. But it's imprtant that digital nmads think deeply abut the imprtance f cmmunity and mental health in their lives. Freedm des nt mean the same thing fr everyne.
66. What des the authr think f digital nmads?
A. Easy t get n with. B. Extremely hard t be accepted.
C. Difficult t define. D. Abut t disappear.
67. What led Lisette t escape frm her wrkplace?
A. Fierce cmpetitin. B. Inflexible wrking system.
C. Ecnmic pressure. D. Vilatin f persnal space.
68. What is an attractive aspect f being a digital nmad accrding t paragraph 4?
A. Travelling the wrld. B. Enjying mre free time.
C. Receiving steady incmes. D. Being free frm real-life pressures.
69. What des the authr advise us t d in the last paragraph?
A. Think twice befre becming a digital nmad.
B. Share yur real life and jb n the Internet.
C. Have a much mre cmfrtable lifestyle.
D. Resign frm a dead-end jb as sn as pssible.
70. What wuld be the best title f the passage?
A. Digital nmads: what future jbs will be like
B. Digital nmads: a trend that will take ver the wrld
C. Digital nmads: an effective way t escape yur everyday wrk
D. Digital nmads: what it's really like t wrk while traveling the wrld
