“Pllinatrs(傳粉昆蟲), such as insects and hummingbirds，are knwn t be electrically charged, and it is believed that pllen(花粉) is attracted by the electric field frmed by the pllinatr and the plant,” says Takuma Sugi, a c-senir authr n the study. “Hwever, it was nt cmpletely clear whether electric fields are used fr cmmunicatins between different land animals.”
The researchers first began studying this prject when they nticed that the wrms they develped ften ended up n the lids f Petri dishes. When the team attached a camera t bserve this behaviur, they fund that it was nt just because wrms were climbing up the walls f the dish. Instead, they were jumping frm the flr f the plate t the tp.
