Jules Verne was brn n 8 February 1828 in the French city f Nantes. Frm an early age, he had a fascinatin with explratin and discvery. When he was six, his teacher, Madame Sambin, tld him stries abut her husband, wh disappeared while travelling the wrld n a ship 30 years befre. This had never been dne befre, but Verne was sure that it wuld be a success. His first stry, Five Weeks in a Balln, was published in September 1862. His career lasted fr mre than 40 years, during which time he wrte mre than 60 gripping (扣人心弦的) stries.
T begin with, Verne wrte psitive and ptimistic bks. Many f these were t be his mst ppular creatins. Althugh sme included fantastical elements, they were usually based n scientific facts, making them believable. These happy stries weren’t t last. As he gt lder, Verne became less cnfident in the idea that science and technlgy were always gd fr the planet.
