Sharon, Aged 22
The most important thing to keep in mind when going into high school is to be yourself. Besides, I don’t know what your middle school was like, but high school teachers will not care about things such as how much homework you already have in one night. It’s best to just learn to deal with things and manage your time wisely so you can achieve everything you need.
Frank, Aged 21
I think almost every kid feels both nervous and excited before their first day. You will probably love it. I know I did. You should join in some sports or activities that will make your high school experience more enjoyable. Good luck!
Eddie, Aged 20
When I started high school I was really nervous too, especially since I had been home-schooled all through middle school and didn’t really know anyone, I suppose the best advice would be to just relax. The first couple of days can be a little bit hard, but things will become easier after you know it.
David, Aged 19
I’m not going to lie. The first day is kind of frightening. But you’ll get used to it. Don’t be afraid of anyone; upperclassmen will pick on you more if you let them know you’re afraid. Just take it easy. Making some friends and staying with them will greatly help you get used to high school quickly. After the first week it’s really not bad at all. Don’t worry.
1. What can we infer from Sharon about high school?
A. Teachers are quite strict.
B. Students often stay up at night.
C. Teachers provide little care for students.
D. Students should make good use of their time.
2. How did Eddie feel on his first day of high school?

My wife’s birthday falls at the beginning of spring when the winter chill still hangs over the approaching warmth.
On that day, I came home from work, stopped her from entering the kitchen and asked her to dine out. “Has Lily called?” she asked. I shook my head. The atmosphere at the dinner was oppressive. My wife kept glancing at her phone, showing no signs of appetite.
Early the next morning, my wife got up, dark rings encircling her eyes. We only have one child. When Lily still lived at home, every year when her birthday approached, we would start the grand preparations days in advance. And after she left for college, my wife would call her countless times from morning till night. How could she ignore all our love and utterly forget her mum’s birthday? On the way to work, I texted Lily, “Your mum didn’t sleep well last night.”
Another day concluding, we were about to go to bed when there was a sound of a key rattling in the lock. In came our daughter, face red with cold, birthday cake in hand. “Sorry, Mum. Happy birthday!” she said, tears welling up. Immediately, my wife pulled Lily into a hug, complaining, “You silly girl, why do you come all the way back at such a time? Don’t you know it is cold outside?”
Lily just stayed two hours in case of missing her classes. Seeing Lily boarding the train, my wife started blaming me for that message, yet in a better mood. I did feel I handled this matter perfectly both for my wife and my child’s growth.
Later, I called my parents and told them about it. I never thought they would respond with a long silence, and then said: “How many times have you forgotten our birthdays? Has either of us ever complained?”
4. What does the underlined word “oppressive” mean in paragraph 2?
A. Relaxing. B. Funny. C. Unique. D. Heavy.
5. What can be inferred about the woman in paragraph 3?
A. Watching TV is her daily routine. B. She set her phone in silent mode.
C. Some anxiety is felt of the woman. D. She wasn’t satisfied with her dinner.
6. Why did Lily burst into tears on seeing her mother?
A. She was overjoyed to see her mother.
B. She felt sorry about forgetting her mother’s birthday.
C. She feared to be scolded for ignoring her parents’ love.
D. She pitied herself for being half-frozen all the way back.
7. What message is conveyed from the words of the author’s parents?
A. Love is a two-way street. B. Birthday party is a must.
C. Parental love is for a return. D. It is never too late to say sorry.
D 5. C 6. B 7. A

根據(jù)上一句“On that day, I came home from work, stopped her from entering the kitchen and asked her to dine out. “Has Lily called?” she asked. I shook my head.(那天,我下班回家,不讓她進(jìn)廚房,請(qǐng)她出去吃飯?! 我搖了搖頭)”和下一句“My wife kept glancing at her phone, showing no signs of appetite.(我妻子一直在看她的手機(jī),沒(méi)有任何食欲)”可知,妻子在生日那天,在等女兒的祝福電話,中午了女兒還沒(méi)打電話,應(yīng)該是忘記了媽媽的生日,妻子應(yīng)該是心情不好,氣氛比較沉悶。
根據(jù)第三段“Early the next morning, my wife got up, dark rings encircling her eyes. We only have one child. When Lily still lived at home, every year when her birthday approached, we would start the grand preparations days in advance. And after she left for college, my wife would call her countless times from morning till night. How could she ignore all our love and utterly forget her mum’s birthday?”(第二天一大早,我妻子起床了,黑眼圈圍繞著她的眼睛。
Happy birthday!’ she said, tears welling up.(‘對(duì)不起,媽媽。
根據(jù)最后一段“Later, I called my parents and told them about it. I never thought they would respond with a long silence, and then said: ‘How many times have you forgotten our birthdays? Has either of us ever complained?’(后來(lái),我打電話給我的父母,告訴他們這件事。 故選A項(xiàng)。

A recent study from a team of South Korean researchers suggests that eating alone often may lead to poor eating habits and poor food choices. Specifically, the study found that men who ate alone more than twice a week had a greater risk of developing high blood pressure and other diseases.
For children, eating with their families is not only about preventing bad results—it is also about developing good ones.
In 2014, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) looked at data from nearly three-quarters of the world’s countries. Among its findings was the fact that students who shared a main meal with families were less likely to skip school(逃學(xué)). Children who eat a main meal with their families are also less likely to use drugs and alcohol(吸毒酗酒).
In the report, named “The Importance of Family Dinners”, researchers say that “teens who have frequent family dinners are more likely to say their parents know a lot about what’s going on in their lives”. They also say that when teens say they feel closer to their parents, they are less likely to use drugs and alcohol.
Another study from the University of Montreal found that children who ate with their families experience long-term physical and mental health benefits(好處). These children were physically in better shape and drank fewer sugary soft drinks. These children also seemed to have better social skills and they were less aggressive(好斗的).
Professor Linda Pagani says that mealtimes shared with parents “l(fā)ikely provide young children with first-hand social communication, discussions of social events and day-to-day matters”. She adds that they may likely help the child have better communication skills with others.
8. What is the main idea of the text?
A. Advantages of eating with parents. B. Benefits of eating alone.
C. Ways of developing social skills. D. Dangers of using drugs and alcohol.
9. Which is the benefit of eating with the families?
A. Abuse drugs and alcohol. B. Drinking more sugary soft drinks.
C. Get on well with their parents. D. Be more socially active and aggressive.
10. Why is Professor Pagani mentioned in the last paragraph?
A. To introduce a famous person.
B. To offer background information.
C. To further explain the benefits of eating with parents.
D. To show the disadvantage of eating with parents.
11. Where does the passage most probably come from?
A. A popular novel. B. A travel magazine.
C. A science report. D. A biology book.

get used to doing是固定短語(yǔ),意為“習(xí)慣于做某事”,因此空格1應(yīng)用動(dòng)名詞形式作賓語(yǔ),根據(jù)漢語(yǔ)提示“對(duì)……負(fù)責(zé)”是固定短語(yǔ)be responsible for。
64. But spending too much time online is unhealthy and makes it very difficult to f________(集中,特別關(guān)注)other things in life.
【答案】focus on##ocus on
根據(jù)空格前“difficult to”可知,空格處應(yīng)填動(dòng)詞原形,結(jié)合所給漢語(yǔ)意思可知,應(yīng)填focus on。故填focus on。
65. Some students even become ______ ______ (上癮) the Internet.
【答案】 ①. addicted ②. to
故填①addicted ②to。
A thousand-mile journey begins with the first step.
A thousand-mile journey begins with the first step.
I found most of my classmates and teachers friendly and helpful.
分析句意可知,此處應(yīng)為“find+賓語(yǔ)+賓補(bǔ)”結(jié)構(gòu),結(jié)合句意可知,該句描述的為過(guò)去的事情,所以表示“覺(jué)得”應(yīng)為find的過(guò)去式found,表示“我的大多數(shù)同學(xué)和老師”應(yīng)為most of my classmates and teachers作賓語(yǔ),表示“很友好,而且樂(lè)于助人”應(yīng)為friendly and helpful作賓語(yǔ)補(bǔ)足語(yǔ)。 I found most of my classmates and teachers friendly and helpful。
You’ll never see me without a book or a pen.
結(jié)構(gòu),結(jié)合句意,該句描述的是將來(lái)的動(dòng)作,所以該句應(yīng)使用一般將來(lái)時(shí),表示“你不會(huì)見(jiàn)到我”應(yīng)為you’ll never see me,位于句首,you的首字母需大寫(xiě),“沒(méi)有書(shū)或筆”表示全部否定時(shí),應(yīng)使用連詞并列連詞or,即without a book or a pen。 You’ll never see me without a book or a pen.
If I’m not in class, I’m either in the library or in the computer lab.
根據(jù)句意,該句描述的為經(jīng)常性發(fā)生的動(dòng)作,所以使用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí),表示“如果我不是在上課”應(yīng)為if I’m not in class作條件狀語(yǔ)從句,位于句首時(shí),if的首字母需大寫(xiě),所以從句譯為If I’m not in class;表示“在圖書(shū)館”應(yīng)為in the library,表示“在計(jì)算機(jī)實(shí)驗(yàn)室”應(yīng)為in the computer lab,結(jié)合句意,表示“就一定在圖書(shū)館或計(jì)算機(jī)實(shí)驗(yàn)室”可知,此處指的是兩個(gè)地點(diǎn)中的一個(gè),所以應(yīng)使用either…or… 或……”,主句中的主語(yǔ)與從句的主語(yǔ)一致,均為I,介詞短語(yǔ)前應(yīng)使用系動(dòng)詞be作謂語(yǔ),使用一般現(xiàn)在時(shí),所以be動(dòng)詞為am。 If I’m not in class, I’m either in the library or in the computer lab。
