We talk every day. When we have good news, we like to share it with our good friends and when something terrible happens, we will let others know soon. But do you know that a tree can talk and share news? It sounds strange, but it’s true that some trees can also communicate with each other. Of course, no tree moves lips and says words just as people do.
Willow trees (柳樹(shù)) are the best--known of these trees. When insects (昆蟲(chóng)) begin eating a willow tree, the tree gives out a special smell at once. This smell tells the other willow trees that insects are coming near. All of them quickly make a chemical (化學(xué)物質(zhì)) in their leaves. This chemical is bad for the insects. The insects do not like it and they fly away soon. In this way, the willow trees keep themselves away from the insects.
Next time when you take a walk near the trees, maybe the trees are “talking” to each other quietly. And when someone says that trees cannot “talk”, please tell them that even trees can “talk” to each other, too.
44. Willow trees communicate with each other through ________.
A. smells B. sounds C. words
45. The underlined word “l(fā)ips” in the first paragraph means “________” in Chinese.
A. 枝條 B. 嘴唇 C. 手勢(shì)
46. Which of the following is TRUE?
A. The leaves on the willow trees makes the insects fly away.
B. The special smell that willow trees give out makes the insects fly away.
C. The chemical that willow trees make in their leaves makes the insects fly away.
47. What can we know from the passage?
A. Some of the trees can speak just as people do.
B. Some of the trees can communicate with each other.
C.Some of the trees can tell stories to others.

When I was in Grade 8, I had a heated argument with my classmate, Tony. I have forgotten what the argument was about, but I have never forgotten the lesson I learned that day.
I believed that I was right and he was wrong, and Tony believed that I was wrong and he was right. Our teacher, a kind and smart lady, decided to teach us a lesson. She brought us to the front of the class and placed him on one side of her desk and me on the other. In the middle of her desk was a large and round object. I could clearly see that it was black. The teacher asked us what color the object was. “White,” Tony answered. I couldn’t believe he said the object was white! “Clearly, it was black!” Another argument started between Tony and me, this time about the color of the object.
The teacher told me to go and stand where Tony was standing and told him to go and stand where I was standing. We changed places, and now she asked me what color the object was. I had to answer, “White.” It was an object with two differently colored sides from his side it was white, while from my side it was black. “Boys, now, what do you say?” The teacher smiled at us. Tony has been my best friend ever since.
My teacher taught me a very important lesson that day: When you disagree with others, you’d better be in their shoes. That will help you look at the situation through their eyes, and truly understand their ideas and ways of thinking.
48. What did the teacher do at first?
A. She called the boys’ parents.
B. She brought boys to the front of the class.
C. She shouted at the boys.
49. How did the writer feel when Tony answered “white” in paragraph 2?
A. Surprised. B. Pleased. C. Afraid.
50. Why did the writer give two different answers?
A. Because he turned around the object.
B. Because he changed his place with Tony.
C. Because he wanted to have another argument.
51. What has the writer learned from this lesson?
A. He would forget the arguments.
B. He would sit in the front of the class.
C. He would stand in other people’s shoes.

Start of Winter is one of the 24 solar terms (節(jié)氣) in China. It is the start of winter. Chinese people usually have a big meal on that day. In the north, people love eating dumplings very much. So, around the Start of Winter people put lots of cabbages in a cellar, a room under a house, often used for storing things. They also make fresh tomatoes into tomato sauce (醬). B. Winter begins from this day on.
C. We should eat a lot from this day on.

B. there were not many fresh vegetables to buy

第二節(jié) 閱讀表達(dá) (共5小題;每小題2分,滿分10分)
閱讀下面的短文,然后根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問(wèn)題。
I sold my house and left my job. There was one thing that I just could not leave behind (留下): my cat Willow. There was a simple way to solve it—I went on a journey with my best animal friend!
In the past 3 years, we have travelled over 70,000 kilometers around Australia. We have seen forests and beaches together. This year, we spent three months in the desert. I’m happy to go back to the beautiful beach, but I’m not sure what Willow thinks.
Some people were surprised to find that I was travelling with a cat. I remember that once a backpacker (背包客) at a campsite (營(yíng)地)shouted, “Excuse me, there is a cat trying to get into your van!”
I know. The van, a tiny house on wheels, is our home. I built it by myself with a bed, cupboards, a kitchen—and plenty of places for a little cat to hide! It might be small, but the whole Australia is our garden.
Willow enjoys exploring the places she has never visited, but she doesn’t like to go too far from our van. She loves to sit on the dashboard (儀表盤(pán)) to enjoy a great view. I put our photos on the Internet and look forward to hearing from people all over the world who are following our adventures.
We are lucky. We always have each other and the whole Australia to see. I will treasure the memory for a lifetime. If Willow has taught me anything, it is that happiness doesn’t need much. A bit of food, shelter and a whole lot of love will be well enough.
56.Who did the writer go on a journey with?
57. Has the writer travelled 70,00 kilometers around Australia in the past 3 years?
58. How did the backpacker feel when he saw Willow at a campsite?
59. Why does Willow love sitting on the dashboard?
60. What has the writer learned from his cat Willow?
