The Company Store Pillow ★★★★★5
If you have trouble deciding between support and comfort when pillow shopping, look no further than The Company Store Pillow. It offers the best of both worlds with its two-in-one design. One side is constructed with a memory foam that adjusts to your head. The other side is made of a gel fiber and offers tons of comfort throughout the night.
Qutool Cooling Bed Pillow ★★★★★☆ 4.7
For those who are in the market for a more affordable pillow that matches pricier options, the QuTool Cooling Bed Pillows deliver on that and more. The pillow's cooling capabilities definitely impressed our tester. However, she did find that she had to adjust the filling a few times throughout the night to maintain comfort.

Twenty years ago, I received an offer for a minor role in a small independent film called Scorpion Spring. I got the script and I didn’t read one page of it, not a word. Why? Because I wanted to lubricate(潤滑)my creative juices and rid myself of all the theoretical tension I’d been carrying since those acting classes in university. I wanted go back to how I acted when I first started, when I played this guy named David Wooderson, when reading just one line of the script completely unlocked the character for me.I wanted to be back when I was a natural, a free actor.
Two weeks later, I was on the set for the film. I knew my man. I was a cruel drug dealer from Mexico, willing to kill for money. I even looked the part: unshaven, greasy hair, black boots, leather jacket. Time to shoot the scene. No problem. I arrived in character. I didn't introduce myself to the other actors because my man didn't care about them and my man was going to kill them in this scene anyway. Just before we took our marks a production assistant came up to me, “Some script, Mr. McConaughey?” I took them and just shoved them in my pocket without looking at them. All the actors settled onto their marks and prepared for “action.” Well, I guess I lost my nerve a little bit because I decided it would be a good idea, right at this moment, just before we rolled the camera, to have a quick glance at the scene and the dialogue. My thinking at the time? If it was written well, I would immediately remember the written lines because obviously that's what my man
would say, and if it's not written well, then, I would just be my man and do and say what he would do and say anyway. I unfolded the script-my heart was racing and my mind went blank. One page. Two pages. Three pages... Of a long dialogue...In Spanish!
That director never cooperated with me again even after I acquired an Oscars in Hollywood.
Knowing your man doesn't mean knowing Spanish.
24.How did the author play the character David Wooderson?
A. By taking advantage of his creativity.
B. By imitating the best man in Hollywood.
C. By learning acting theories in university.
D.By following the instructions of the director.
25. Why did the author have no interaction with other actors on the set?
A.He was not welcome on the set.
B. He didn't care about them at all.
C. He barely knew them on his arrival.
D.He did what the character would do.
26.What can we learn about Mr.McConaughey?
A.He has a good command of Spanish.
B. He made great achievements in acting.
C. He played a leading role in Scorpion Spring.
D. He became famous for he played Wooderson.
27.Which statement was the author most likely to agree with?
A.Acting theories matter the most.
B.An actor needs strong mental strength.
C.A minor role is less worth great efforts.
D. Preparation speaks louder than creativity.
C
The musician Moby once said, “Music has no form whatsoever-all it is is air moving just a little bit differently. It's the only art form that you can't touch.” It is true that we cannot touch music, but that does not mean that music is invisible. There is, in fact, a way to “see”music.
How can we see music? Neuroscientists(神經(jīng)科學家)use MRI machines to look inside the brain. These tools let them see the neurons, or brain cells, which are in use when people are listening to music. Computer screens linked to MRIs show that when people listen to music, neurons light up in many parts of the brain.
Neuroscientists have discovered that it isn't necessary to hear music for the neurons to light up. Even when you just think about a song, these neurons light up. In addition, the same neural activity in the same part of the brain happens when people experience other pleasurable activities. For example, some of the same neurons light up when we eat something delicious or hug a loved one. Negative feelings such as fear or anxiety make neurons in a different area light up. However, when an anxious or frightened person listens to pleasurable music, these neurons stop lighting up.
Why does music have so many benefits? The answer may be because it uses so many different parts of the brain. According to neuroscientists, using many parts of the brain at one time gives your brain a good “workout.” Reading music while playing a musical instrument uses more parts of the brain simultaneously(同時地)than most other activities. It
involves both physical movement and mental activity,
much like playing a sport such as soccer.
So, although Moby is completely correct that we cannot touch music, it is possible to “see” music. There is still a lot to learn about the effects of music on our brain. However, there is no doubt that scientists have shown that music is an extremely powerful art form with many positive effects.
28. Why does the author mention Moby's word?
A. To define what music is.
B.To call people's attention to music.
C. To introduce the study of seeing music.
D. To confirm the invisible feature of music.
29. In what situation will the neurons linking to happiness probably light up?
A.When you are worried about your exam.
B. When you are busy with your presentation.
C. When you enjoy your favorte brand of coffee.
D. When you miss the deadline of your homework.
30. What is paragraph 4 mainly about?
A.The advantages of music over sports.
B. The reasons for the benefits of music.
C.The causes of the neurons lighting up.
D.The various healing functions of music.
31. What is the author's attitude towards effects of music?
A.Positive.
B.Critical.
C.Neutral.
D.Dismissive.

China's first offshore carbon storage project was put into operation on June 1 in the South China Sea.
With an annual capacity of 300,000 tons, the project is designed to store a total of more than 1.5 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is equal to planting nearly 14 million trees.
The operation of the project means China's achievement in acquiring a complete set of technologies and equipment for capturing, processing, injecting, storing and monitoring CO2 at sea.
The project, serving the Enping 15-1 oil platform 200km southwest of Shenzhen, captures and processes CO2 from oilfields and then injects CO2 into a dome geological structure at a depth of around 800 meters under the seabed.
What needs to be done to inject CO2 into the seabed?
Firstly, a location appropriate for storage shall be found. The "dome” geological structure discovered by Chinese experts, which resembles a massive bowl, is a natural “can” that is able to hold CO2 stably.
After the location is decided, a 900-meter-deep well with a displacement(位移)of over 3,000 meters needs to be drilled so that CO2 can be sent to the “dome” geological structure.
Given such a huge displacement, the friction(摩擦力)on the sidewall of the well is expected to multiply, so the drill would probably stick inside the well. In addition, the well is likely to suffer from collapse and drilling fluid loss because of the loose soil under the seabed.
To cope with these challenges, drilling experts tailored anti-corrosion(耐腐蝕) drilling fluid that's able to support the sidewall, which makes the injection of CO2 smooth.
Besides, a monitoring system has been fixed to the CO2 injection tube to see if the tube is leaked.
China's sea area creates a sound environment for the storage of CO2. Its potential CO2 storage capacity is estimated to be 2.58 trillion tons, offering important support for the country to reach its goal of peaking carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060.
32. What is the purpose of the project?
A.To store CO2 at sea.
C.To process oil in a new way.
B.To build an offshore structure.
D. To capture carbon from the air.
33. How many steps are taken during the operation of the project?
A.Three.
B.Four.
C.Five.
D. Six.
34.What may the friction on the sidewall of the well lead to?
A.The drill getting stuck.
C. The seabed getting looser.
B.The loss of drilling fluid.
D.The collapse of the well.
35.What is the best title for the passage?
A. Realization of China's carbon goals
B. Advantageous geology of South China Sea
C. New stage in China's carbon storage capacity
D. Breakthrough in China's oilfield construction

Whenever we make a choice, whether it's as big as getting married or as small as an argument with a friend, we are driven by our values. Values tend to be single-word concepts like freedom, equality, selflessness, honesty. 36 They're a kind of moral GPS we can use to navigate through life. If you know your values, you have directions that point you toward the people and actions and habits that are best for you.
One way to recognize the values by which you live is look at how you spend your money. 37 Do you really spend your money wisely? We often have a strange perspective on what's “worth it”,which doesn't quite make sense if you reflect on it later.
Pay attention to who you talk to, what you watch, and what you do with your time. 38If you're just going from one day to the next without questioning your values, you’ll be swayed(搖擺)by what everyone else--from your family to marketing professionals---wants you to think. A thought comes into my mind and I ask myself: Does this fit my chosen values or those that others have selected for me?
39 If you're an overworked parent who wants to make your kids your priority, make friends with other parents who hold the same idea, so you can exchange support and advice.
Values make it easier for you to surround yourself with the right people, make tough career choices, use your time more wisely, and focus your attention where it really matters to you. 40
A.All of these push values and beliefs.
B.Is your precious time wasted or well spent?
C. Your bills actually reflect what matters most to you.
D.That might sound rather abstract, but these values are really practical.
E.Who you surround yourself with helps you stick to your values and achieve your goals.
F. Without them we are swept away by outside voice instead of following our inner voice.
G.When we drive through a new area, we wander aimlessly if we don't know the directions.

Sticking together was always important to my family - especially after my dad left us. I didn't always talk to my mom about my feelings, because she was busy tending our farm. I talked to my sister, Alana, and I talked to Sister Belle-that's what we called our cow. She was definitely part of my family, and we loved her very much.
Later on, as we needed to move, we had to sell our farm and all the animals, including Sister Belle. We wanted her to go to someone who would love her like we did, and we thought it was an answer to our hope when a man called. He told he could only pay 300 dollars, but that he had lots of pasture(牧場) and a large barn(畜棚).That afternoon, we went to his place. It looked really nice, and we were happy that we had found the right home for Sister Belle.
The next day we delivered Sister Belle to her new owner. I could feel tears stinging my eyes, but I convinced myself that Sister Belle would be better off in her new home.
A week later, while we were having our moving sale, a neighbor came up telling us she had seen our cow before the cow went to auction(拍賣會). My mom couldn’t believe it and asked who was selling the cow. When knowing who it was, I felt sick. We had trusted him, and just a week later he was selling Sister Belle away to make a profit!
We drove to his house. When he answered the door, mom told him what the neighbor had said and he shut the door right in our faces. Alana was crying, and my mom was begging him to sell Sister Belle back to us. But he wouldn't open the door.
Back home, my mother started calling a lot of auctions and finally found one that had a record of our cow, and told us the cow would be auctioned off the next morning.
