I used to overeat. I’ve never been significantly overweight, so people are surprised to hear this. When you think of overeating, you think of someone who is above their natural weight range, right? Well, I used to purposefully undereat as well. I was able to keep my weight within some control, but only through a lot of physical and mental pain.
    Here’s a glimpse(一瞥)into my life as a first-year university student:
Friday: Go to a party and eat a lot of chips. Feel guilty and regretful. Vow(發(fā)誓)to wake up and run an extra mile.
Saturday: Run 6 miles, come home and only eat a tiny breakfast. Eat like a bird for the rest of the day. Feel proud of myself.
Sunday: Study and snack on chocolate chips all day. Feel sick.
Monday: Head to class with no snack and no money so that I can’t buy any food. Feel hungry but full of willpower. Go home and overeat at dinner. Feel out of control.
My feelings were changing regularly. I was proud and in control one moment, and then full of regret and out of control the next. It was exhausting.
As I studied nutrition and human anatomy(人體解剖學)in university, I started to learn just how amazing the human body is! The human body is an amazing, self-regulatory system. It knows exactly how much food it needs. When I learned this, my whole world changed. I stopped trying to manage my eating with willpower. Instead of trying to power through my hunger, I would provide my body with healthy foods, so I would feel hungry less often.
This process definitely took some work and reflection, but after a while it became second nature. Eating has become a joyful experience, instead of a source of stress and worry in my life. All my eating is now guilt-free! I shamelessly eat unhealthy snacks without regret. Of course, the majority of my food intake does come from whole, healthy foods that are close to nature.

    C
The livestreaming and fast delivery industry have attracted so many young people that the manufacturing sector(制造業(yè))is short of manpower. “My advice is to encourage more young people to work in the factories and less in the express delivery industry,” Zhang Xinghai, a deputy to the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature, said during the ongoing NPC annual session.
Zhang wants more young people to work in the factories so that China’s manufacturing sector continues to develop well.
Whatever job young people do is a matter of choice, but the manufacturing sector is facing a labor shortage, for too many people prefer jobs in other areas.
A survey conducted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in the third quarter of 2021 found that of 100 jobs that were facing a manpower shortage, 58 were in the manufacturing sector. By 2025, the shortage in 10 key manufacturing industries could be as high as 30 million.
It is time some strong measures were taken to attract people back to the factories. This can be done by raising the salaries(薪水)of factory workers.
According to a survey in Guangzhou, capital of Guangdong province, the yearly income of express delivery workers in the city is more than 100,000 yuan($15,831). In contrast, the average monthly salary of those doing blue-collar jobs in Guangdong in 2020 was just 7,108 yuan, or about 84,000 yuan a year. That gap surely needs to be reduced.
Besides, the legal rights and interests of those doing blue-collar jobs need to be better protected. Express delivery workers can decide when they want to work, but factory workers have to work whenever the factory demands.
Therefore, the authorities should protect factory workers’ rights to weekends, 8-hour working schedules and paid leave.
Also, the promotion(晉升)and salary growth structure of factory workers must be clearly planned. In a word, to attract young people back to the factories, it is necessary to make blue-collar jobs more attractive.
    8. What can we infer from Zhang Xinghai’s words?
    A. The future of the express delivery sector is hopeless.
    B. Working in factories in China are attractive to young people.
    C. Most young people are unwilling to work in the manufacturing sector.
    D. Working as a delivery man is quite easy for young people.
    9. What does Paragraph 4 mainly tell us?
    A. A lot of jobs in China are facing a manpower shortage.
    B. Employment rate(雇傭率)in China could be dramatically increased by 2025.
    C. There are 10 manufacturing sector facing manpower shortage in total.
    D. The manufacturing sector is facing a serious manpower shortage.
    10. Which is NOT the reason for manpower shortage in factories?
    A. Flexible working hours.
    B. Lower incomes.
    C. Unclear promotion structure.
    D. Unprotected legal rights.
    11. What is the author’s attitude towards the current situation of manufacturing industry?
    A. Indifferent.
    B. Concerned.
    C. Unclear.
    D. Neutral.
C 9. D 10. A 11. B
根據(jù)第一段中““My advice is to encourage more young people to work in the factories and less in the express delivery industry,” Zhang Xinghai, a deputy to the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature, said during the ongoing NPC annual session.(“我的建議是鼓勵更多的年輕人在工廠工作,而不是在快遞行業(yè),”中國最高立法機構全國人民代表大會代表張星海在正在進行的全國人民代表大會年度會議上說。)”
根據(jù)第四段“A survey conducted by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in the third quarter of 2021 found that of 100 jobs that were facing a manpower shortage, 58 were in the manufacturing sector. By 2025, the shortage in 10 key manufacturing industries could be as high as 30 million.(人力資源和社會保障部在2021年第三季度進行的一項調查發(fā)現(xiàn),在面臨人力短缺的100個就業(yè)崗位中,有58個在制造業(yè)部門。到2025年,10個主要制造業(yè)的短缺可能高達3000萬。)”可知,第四段主要介紹了制造業(yè)正面臨嚴重的人力短缺。故選D。
    【10題詳解】
細節(jié)理解題。根據(jù)倒數(shù)第三段中“Express delivery workers can decide when they want to work, but factory workers have to work whenever the factory demands.(快遞員可以決定他們什么時候想工作,但是工廠工人必須在工廠需要的時候工作。)”和倒數(shù)第二段“Therefore, the authorities should protect factory workers’ rights to weekends, 8-hour working schedules and paid leave.(因此,當局應該保護工廠工人周末、8小時工作制和帶薪休假的權利。)”以及最后一段“Also, the promotion(晉升)and salary growth structure of factory workers must be clearly planned. (此外,工廠工人的晉升和薪資增長結構必須有明確的規(guī)劃。)”可知,工廠工人沒有靈活的工作時間,收入低,且沒有明確的晉升結構,以及他們的合法權利不受保護,這導致工廠缺乏勞動力,故A項“靈活的工作時間”不符,因為工人沒有靈活的工作時間,故選A。
    【11題詳解】
推理判斷題。根據(jù)最后一段中“In a word, to attract young people back to the factories, it is necessary to make blue-collar jobs more attractive.(總之,為了吸引年輕人回到工廠,有必要使藍領工作更具吸引力。)”
    D
Life as an astronaut has various unique attractions. This can include experiencing weightlessness and looking back at Earth as a pale blue dot. Food is not among them. Space travelers over the years have become used to certain foods such as freeze-dried ice cream and liquid salt and pepper. Now, the menu is set to be augmented, with the first space-grown lettuce (生菜) found to be as safe, nutritious and fresh as the Earth-grown variety.
Gioia Massa of NASA Kennedy Space Center is the lead scientist on the lettuce-growing project. She said that growing food in space could be wonderful for astronauts on missions lasting more than one month. “If you store packaged food for a long time, not only will the flavour and nutritional quality decrease, but the vitamins will degrade. After eating such food, astronauts’ intake of nutrition is not ensured,” she said. “Besides, for them, there may also be psychological benefits of growing and looking after plants.
Lettuce has been grown in batches (分批) onboard the International Space Station (ISS). The vegetable production system is known as Veggie. It is composed of plant pillows (sealed units containing ceramic soil), LED lighting and a watering system that allows astronauts to inject water through a tube. The lettuce crops grow undisturbed for 33 to 56 days before being harvested and eaten, or deep-frozen and returned to Earth for chemical and biological analysis.
The space-grown lettuces are similar in make-up to Earth-grown ones but they have higher levels of bacteria (細菌), possibly due to their growth in a warmer, more humid (潮濕的) and closed-air system. But they are not found to carry any harmful bacteria.
NASA is now enlarging the range of produce grown onboard the ISS. It will be quite some time before any vegetables can be transformed into a dish, however. “While we have nowhere to cook up there now, we can look forward to more things that taste fresh,” Massa explained.
    12. What does the underlined word “augmented” probably mean in Paragraph 1?
    A. Enlarged.
    B. Engaged.
    C. Reduced.
    D. Measured.
    13. What do we know about growing space-grown lettuce?
    A. It’s flavor and nutritional quality decline.
    B. It is terrible for astronauts on missions.
    C. It can contribute to astronauts’ mental health.
    D. It will make sure the astronauts’ intake of nutrition.
    14. What can we infer from the text?
    A. Lettuces will be grown in batches onboard.
    B. The vegetable production system consists of three parts.
    C. It will take at least 56 days to harvest the space-grown lettuce crop.
    D. Thanks to growing environment, the space-grown lettuces don’t contain any harmful bacteria.
    15. What does Massa mainly intend to explain in the last paragraph?
    A. The difficulty in growing produce onboard.
    B. The necessity to enlarge the space onboard.
    C. The desire to enjoy cooked vegetables onboard.
    D. The expectation to enrich the variety of produce grown onboard.
A 13. C 14. B 15. D
根據(jù)劃線單詞上文“Space travelers over the years have become used to certain foods such as freeze-dried ice cream and liquid salt and pepper.(多年來,宇航員已經(jīng)習慣了某些食物,比如凍干冰淇淋、液體鹽和胡椒)”可知,多年來,宇航員已經(jīng)習慣了某些食物,結合劃線單詞下文“with the first space-grown lettuce (生菜)found to be as safe, nutritious and fresh as the Earth-grown variety.(第一個太空種植的生菜,人們發(fā)現(xiàn)這是安全的,營養(yǎng)和新鮮的地球種植品種)”可知,現(xiàn)在宇航員的菜單上有了新的食物——生菜。
根據(jù)第二段中““Besides, for them, there may also be psychological benefits of growing and looking after plants.(此外,對他們來說,種植和照顧植物可能也有心理上的好處)”可知,在太空種植生菜可以促進宇航員的心理健康。故選C。

Many people were never taught how to express their emotions. Because they do not know how to express them, they end up repressing(壓抑) their emotions instead. For people who have gone through painful life situations, they can end up engaging in unhealthy behaviours to avoid expressing their emotions, such as performing self-injuries or developing eating disorders.____16____Here is how to express emotions.
●Recognize the importance of expressing emotions.
____17____For example, many people who struggle with ongoing depression or anxiety are often actually angry. Because the unexpressed anger has nowhere to go, the person experiences the emotion as depression or anxiety. If you want to take control over your emotional life, you need to first recognize that it is important to express your emotions.
    ●Label your emotions appropriately.
Many people who have never learned how to express their emotions have a difficult time even labeling what those emotions are. Some people might feel anger when the emotion that they are actually dealing with is pain. Others might cry and feel sad in situations in which anger is really the more appropriate(合適的) emotion.____18____
    ●Express your anger physically.
Anger can be a frightening emotion for many people to express. An Act of Neighborliness
The skies were dark. A strong wind was blowing hard, cutting my face like a sharp knife. Rain fell in big drops and thunder and lightning flashed across the skies. I shook with cold and fear as I walked home, through the streams of muddy water. Some people were rushing by, completely wet in the heavy rain.
Along the way, I saw some schoolchildren holding their heavy schoolbags tightly and rushing home, I also saw that some road repair work had been abandoned by workers. Obviously, the workers had left in a hurry because of the storm. There were few signs and it was hard to see what was on the road. There were pieces of wood and metal and it looked like a hole had been dug and hurriedly covered with boards.
I moved on but suddenly stopped as I heard some sounds. It sounded like children crying. I quickly turned back and went back to the place from where the sounds came. I was frightened! To my sadness, I found that two small children had fallen into the hole on the road. The boards had moved away with the force of the rushing water. I could hardly see the children as it was dark all around me. I told them that I was going to look for help. I knew the neighbors well, and they all shared a sense of neighborliness, willing to give a hand.

Para 1:
I rushed to the nearest house, Mr. Lee’s, and told him about the problem. He readily said that he would get a torch and some rope. He also called his good friends to come along with him. A few other neighbors also quickly joined the rescue party and together went to the road. They managed to get the children out of the watery hole safely. The children were scared silly and they shook all over with cold, daring not to make a movement.
    Para 2:
Hearing of what had happened, the children’s parents were in relief. They were very grateful to the neighbors who had helped to rescue the children and thanked them repeatedly. A flood of happiness welled up in me because I had been part of this act of neighborliness. It was a wonderful moment, one I would never forget. The neighbors had been great. They had helped people in need without hesitation. Bathed in much warmth, I headed for home.
