No one really knows exactly how, when, or where fortune cookies(簽餅) were invented.
One thing is for sure, fortune cookies were not from China. They were created in America. However, they may have been inspired by Chinese or Japanese treats. Some people think that fortune cookies may be created because of mooncakes, or some small Chinese cakes with messages inside. Some believe that fortune cookies are similar to traditional Japanese rice crackers(薄脆餅干). They once had a note inside.
Fortune cookies are so popular that two American cities, San Francisco and Los Angeles, once fought for the right to be the home of fortune cookies.
In 1983,a trial(審判)was held to decide where fortune cookies came from. One side, David Jung, is the founder(創(chuàng)立者)of the Hong Kong Noodle Company in Los Angeles. He said he invented the fortune cookies in 1918. The other side argued that the fortune cookies were invented by a man named Makoto Hagiwara, who ran the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco in the 1890s. The judge sided with Hagiwara. It was not surprising, because the trial was held in San Francisco. People in Los Angeles later held their own trial and decided that their city was the home of fortune cookies.
No matter where fortune cookies were from, it is hard to imagine finishing a Chinese meal without opening this sweet, crispy treat and reading the message in it.

第三節(jié) (共5小題;每小題2分,滿分10分)
閱讀下面短文,根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容回答問題。
My name is Susie Thompson, and I’m fifteen. I’ve been at River School, London since I was eleven. If I pass my exams next year, I’ll stay here until I’m eighteen.
River School is a secondary school, about twenty minutes from my home by bike. Before I came here, I went to the primary school near my home. I started primary school when I was five and stayed there for six years.
We go to school every weekday from 8:45 am to 3:15 pm. Before class, our teacher checks which pupils are present or absent. Then everyone goes to the main hall. There, our head teacher tells us news about the school. At 9:05 am the bell rings, and lessons start. Each lesson lasts (持續(xù)) for an hour. We have a break from 11:05 am until 11:15 am, then another lesson, and then lunch for an hour. In the afternoon, we have two more lessons before school finishes.
This year I have ten subjects: math, English, physics, chemistry, French, history, geography, music, IT and PE. Some people learn German instead of French. It’s lucky we don’t have exams in every subject.
We have a large sports ground for football and tennis, where we can play both during and after school hours. After-school activities such as sports clubs and language societies are popular too. During the school year there are usually visits to museums and to camps for activities such as climbing and walking in the country. Last year a group of us even went to Japan. There are parties and a sports day, and school plays are really popular. Once a term, there is a parents’ meeting, so our parents and teachers can talk about our progress.
What do I like best about school? English, chemistry, music, sports clubs, school plays … and above all, my friends!

Nowadays, more and more schools are introducing intangible cultural heritage to their students.
參考答案:
Nowadays, more and more schools are introducing intangible cultural heritage to their students. I think it’s a great idea to encourage students to learn intangible cultural heritage at school.
The intangible cultural heritage is the wealth of our country. By learning those skills, students can learn more about China’s rich culture. At the same time, learning it can help students develop a sense of national pride. What’s more, after learning it, students will have a chance to become inheritors and help pass down intangible cultural heritage.
I hope that paper cutting lessons will be offered in our school. It is one of the most well-known traditional folk arts in China. And its patterns have a special beauty. I really expect that the inheritor will guide us to the colorful world of traditional culture.
